-Venus POV-
We are in the trailer as Temp sits on the bed and I take the seat as she says, "So, one of the girls had a boyfriend." Booth then tries to sit down on the bed as she then says, "Booth, you're sitting on my clothes." "I'm sorry, but it's kind of tight in here. Which is why you shouldn't throw your underwear on the floor." "They fell." I sigh shaking my head as Cam and Hodgins watch us in amusement from the computer. Temp then says to him, "No, don't blame gravity for a lack of tidiness." Cam then asks, "Is there only one bed there?" I nod, "Yeah.... I sleep outside on the trailers roof." Hodgins then says, 'Uh, can we please hit rewind? One of the girls had a boyfriend?" I nod, "Yes." "Only one of them?" Hodgins chuckles, "I mean, how did they, you know, when they were... I just don't see physically how they..." Booth then says, "Okay, look, that's not the issue." Temp then adds, "Just take that image out of your mind. and pretend that they are separate individuals, and ask yourself if you found anything that suggested a relationship." We see Hodgins in deep thought as Booth calls him out, "Hodgins." "Huh? Yeah, sorry. Still working on the mind picture eradication thing." I chuckle a bit then ask, "Did you find anything on one of the sisters that you didn't find present on the other?" "Uh, yeah, actually. Yeah, I did. Uh, residue of polyelectrolyte polymers under the fingernails of Julie, and not Jenny. It was polyvinylpyrrolidone." Temp asks, "What is that, makeup?" I shake my head, "No, it isn't makeup; it's hair gel." Hodgins nods, "Seems that Julie was running her fingers through someone's hair."
Booth then says, "Julie was the one with a boyfriend?" I then ask, " Could you identify a brand?" "No, but it would smell a lot like sandalwood." Booth then says, "Oh. Smoothsure Power Hold." Hodgins nods, "Uh, it's definitely on the list of possible products, yeah." "Dr. Muir was wearing a ton of hair gel that smelled just like sandalwood." I nod impressed as Temp gives him a weird look as Booth says, "What? Son of a barber, okay? I know my traditional hair products." Temp then says, "So Julie was having an affair with Dr. Muir?" I nod as Booth then says, "Tell you what, if we leave now, we can question them and be back in a couple of hours." Temp shakes her head, "No, not in this thing. And we have a show. We can't be late." I nod agreeing as Booth says, "You know, we're not circus performers, okay? We solve murders." I then add, "Yeah. We're undercover murder solvers, and if we don't make it back in time, we'll blow our cover." Booth then says, "Tell you both what, I will search for a faster vehicle. All right? Oh, but first, I got to go scavenge, you know, some Russian costumes because somebody said we did a Russian act." Temp then says, "It was a great idea." Booth leaves to find the stuff we need as Cam then says, "Dr. Brennan, Venus, if you do have to perform, any chance that you could set up a Webcam so we could watch? You know, to see if we might be of any help with the case, I mean." I nod "Yeah, absolutely. Anything to help."
Booth has found us two motorcycle as one has a passenger seat attached to the side. Booth and I looked at each other wanting the other one as we did rock, paper, and scissors. Now we are on the road as I won riding the motorcycle that doesn't have the attached seat on the side where Temp is sitting as I ride along next to Booth and Temp. Booth then asks Temp, "You bring our real clothes?" I hear Temp yell, "Yes, they're in the bag. Where did you two learn to drive these things?" Booth speaks first, "Your kidding me, right? I'm a cop." Temp then looks at me a I smile, "I was bored so I decided to take some classes and now I have a license for it. " Temp nods then says, "We should really talk about our act." I laugh, "We should. I never been more excited and my first time at a circus I actually get to be apart of it."
We are in Dr. Muir's office as he says, "Well, I already sent off the girls' medical records. I'm not sure how else I can help you." Temp then says, "I want to run my fingers through your hair." "Uh, why?" I then say, "To prove you were in a sexual relationship with Julie Van Owen." "And running her fingers through my hair will prove that?" Temp nods, "Yep." Booth then speaks, "I'll tell you what, look Dr. Brennan up on the Internet. She's getting very famous for this kind of stuff." "You're not gonna understand this." Booth then asks, "You had a threesome?" "Absolutely not. I dated Jenny first, and then I fell in love with Julie. Jenny didn't really like that." I nod as Temp adds, "That's why he recommended separating the twins." "That's not true. My recommendation was totally objective." Booth then suggests, "Maybe their mother found out and sued his whole life away." "Which is the only reason we kept the relationship a secret."
I then say, "Relationship. Sexual relationship?" Booth asks, "How? Well, when you were... I'm trying to understand. When, uh, you and Julie..." "The girls had separate genitalia. A fair amount of privacy could be achieved by an eye mask and an MP3 player turned up very loud. Julie liked the Kings of Leon. Jenny like Maroon 5." Temp then says, "The American Medical Association is going to take away your license." I nod as Booth adds, "Yeah, that's a motive for murder." I then add, "We should arrest him." Mr. Muir then says, "Wait. On what charges?" Booth then goes behind his desk over to him, "Defiantly positive, for the whole suspicion of murder thing, but you know the, uh, other thing, it's a little confusing." I nod, "Very confusing."
We had changed back to our disguise as we ride back to the circus as Temp say to Booth, "Can you go faster? We'll miss the show." "Oh, we're making great time, Bones. All right, relax." Booth's phone rings as he tells her, "All right, a little help there. Phone's ringing. I'm kind of busy." "Oh, okay. Should we talk about our act? We need costumes." "We don't need the Russian costumes, all right? We're dropping the act." I then ask, "What?" Temp adds, "You both could throw knives. I saw it." "Yeah, I know we can, but we caught the bad guy, all right? We don't need to go undercover. What are you doing? Digging for loose change?" Temp had finally found his phone, "Oh. Oh! Got it. Special Agent Seeley Booth's phone, Dr. Temperance Brennan speaking. Dallas field office. It's for you." "Yeah, of course it is. It's my phone. Then ask 'em what they want." "Okay. What is this about, please?... They say that all of Dr. Muir's alibies checked out and they can't hold him for murder." Booth asks, "He didn't kill the twins?" "He couldn't have driven all the way to the Texas/Oklahoma border during that time." I then ask, "So, now can we talk about our act? As you can see I know how to speak Russian." Temp adds, "I also know a few words in Russian." Booth then says, "Oh, no."
Temp and I finish changing as Booth was outside as we come out. Temp comes out first as Booth says looking at her, "Wow, Wanda. You, you look- wow." "Uh, you too, uh, Boris." "You make beautiful Natasha." I then add, "And I am Anna." Lavalle laughs at the two, "Man, you, you act like it's the first time you've done this." Booth then says, "Yeah, well, we like to keep things fresh." "So, I've seen." I snicker as Lavalle leaves. Temp then whispers to us, "Okay, so, um, I stand against a board, right, with balloons all around me and then you both Pop them with your razor-sharp knives?" I nod getting excited as Booth says, "Right. Unless we do our actual job and find the murder weapon." We start to walk around as Temp asks, "What's with the moustache?" "What? I thought it'd add a nice Russian flair." "It looks like a small animal." I laugh as Booth gives me a look as I raise my arms up in defense, "I didn't say it. Wanda did."
We are now looking through the clown props as Temp says, "There's a giant plastic ice cream cone, giant plastic shoe, giant plastic phone, giant plastic..." We then get stopped as some clowns say behind us, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mind telling me what you're doing here?" Booth then says, "Or what, you're going to play tough? You're clowns, right? I throw knives." Another clown laughs, "Let's kick his ass." "Bring it on, Bozo." I get in front of Booth pushing him back a little as Temp says to the clowns, "Uh, we're just looking for a prop, that's all. Buck here is going to knock this nose off my face with a knife." I just smile a bit and nod as a clown says, "Why does everyone think the clown stuff is there for everyone? This is our stuff!"
Another clown says, "Let's kick his ass, you guys!" I then say whispering to Temp and Booth, "I imagined my first interaction with a clown to be much nicer and fun." Temp then says to them, "Traditionally, clowns are fun loving and anarchistic. You are rigid and humorless." The same clown then says, "Let's kick both their asses!" I give them a glare taking out a knife from my thigh pointing it at them, "Don't even try clown boy. Touch her and your going to be dealing with me and I will make sure your clown career is permanently done forever." He then says, "Then we'll make sure you go done first." Booth then picks up a foam hammer, "You better have your biggest ass-kicking shoes on." Then we hear a bang sound looking to see the owner with a fake gun shooting out the actual word bang making us all stop in our places. "Stop! Y'all want to have a clem, that's your business, but after the show." A clown and Booth stare down at each other as the owner says, "Tumbles, I'm serious." "All right, let's go, guys." Booth then says, "Not so funny now, hey, Tumbles?" The owner then comes up to us, "That's enough, Moosejaw. We're lining up. You two damn well better be ready." Temp then says looking at us, "I'm ready. How about you two?" I nod as Booth says, "Yeah, I'm ready." He lifts the hammer behind him hitting Temp in the eye as she groans in pain. I wince and check on her as Booth says, "Oh, God! Bones!" "My eye." "You okay?" "I'm okay." "Well, we can't do the show now." "What? No! The show must go on!" "Says who?"
Before the show I had to sneak my way around and climb a wooden pole to set up a secret camera. I don't even know how I pulled that off without anyone seeing me, but I did it." We are in the back waiting for us to be start as the owner does the introductions, "Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages, welcome to Bingham's Circus of Wonders, the most sensational, death-defying, one-ring spectacular on Earth!" We all start coming out from the back waving at everyone. Temp and I are waving as I show them my knives as Temp says to us, "They're clapping for us! Smile Boris. And wave." I then say waving my knife around throwing them around in nice tricks, "Show them your knifes!" Booth just waves as Temp says going to him, "Come on. Where's the Buck Moosejaw I married?" She takes out his knives as I bow towards him as a way to introduce him as well as everyone starts yelling louder in excitement. Booth looks at us for a second then decides to join in taking out his knives enjoying the applause from people.
Booth and I are watching other acts as ours were about to start as Temp comes back from where ever she came from and says, "Hey! I got props." Booth then asks, "Props? For what?" "Props. Objects for you two to throw knives at." Booth then says, "No, no. You are going to stand against the board still. We are going to throw knives around you, but not too close." I then say, "That does not sound like a very good act." Temp nods adding, "I'm sure the crowd is expecting a lot more than that." "There is no act. Remember? There's just us not trying not to kill you." Temp then says, "What- you said you were very good- trained in knife skills by the military." "Oh, I am very good. But it's you I am concerned for." "Well, if you say you're skilled then I have no reason to doubt you, do I?" Magnum then comes back inside from his performance looking at the three of us chuckling, "You know it's not good for the barbers to fight before a show. Those things are sharp." Booth then says, "Let's just go through this, all right, Mrs. Moosejaw and little Moosejaw?" I nod scoffing a bit doing my act as a rebellion young sister as Temp says, "Okay."
We look through the curtain as Booth says, "Look at that. The clowns are using those fake barbells. One of them could've clocked the twins and smashed their heads together." I shake my head, "The bar joining the foam weights together is too short. The fulcrum wouldn't give any of them sufficient force to cause the kissing fractures." "But they're clowns. They have their ways." The clowns go past us inside as Lavalle goes over to us, "You're up." The owner then anounces us, "And now, direct from their triumphant tour of Europe and the Far East, Bingham's Circus of Wonders is proud to present the razor sharp skills of the most thrilling, the most breathtaking, the most dangerous knife-throwing act in the world... Boris, Natasha, and Anna and their Russian Knives of Death!" We go out presenting ourselves bowing and waving. Booth and I escort Temp to the board with balloons covering around it.
Booth then says, "Bone, just keep your arms outstretched like this. Okay? Be very, very still. Okay." "Okay. Shouldn't the balloons be closer to my body?" "Not if you want to live." We make our way back away from her as a clown has his hands out ready to give him our stuff as I hand him my hat and Booth throws him is coat. The clown stumbles back from the throw making everyone laugh as we then present him our knives. I let Booth do the first act of popping half of the balloons as he prepares. He pops the first balloon making everyone clap. He pops the second and then the third." Everyone is clapping as I chuckle shaking my head at him as part of our act as he looks at me as I push him back taking my knives standing sideways. I take two knives throwing showing the crowd and then throwing them popping the fourth balloon as everyone applauds as I go faster popping the fifth and sixth balloon with eases. Everyone yells in excitement as Booth and I bow and Temp also moves away from the board bowing as well. Booth then says in a Russian accent, "Natasha balloons are no match for Boris's and Anna's Knives of Death!" We bow without noticing Temp taking out a prop from a bag as everyone starts awing in excitement.
Booth and I turn around confused as she places the prop apple on her head. Booth and I look at each other as Temp says in her accent, "Anna, spare the life of your zolovka." I just smile nodding, "Da! Definitely." I prepare myself with my knife as I take a deep breath as I throw the knife hitting the apple. I smile even wider hitting the intended target as everyone applause as I bow. Booth and I were ready to go back inside as Temp takes out another prop as we turn around seeing her with a fake red rubber nose as I smile nervously whispering towards Booth, "I am not doing this one... This one is on you Ranger..." Temp prepares herself by the board as Booth get's ready as a man yell from the audience, "Be careful! She's only got one eye left!" Everyone laughs as Booth says "Ah! Da!"
Booth prepares as I just smile and gulp a bit scared for Temp as Booth throws the knife hitting the nose missing her as I sigh in relief as everyone start cheering as go by Temp grabbing her hand and bowing while whispering, "That was fun.. But I think that is enough for today." She nods as we kept on bowing with Booth along our side. The owner then says, "Well, how about that? Let's hear it for them, folks. Boris and lovely Anna the Brave and the Knee-knocking lovely Natasha!" We bow then made our way back inside. We crossed the curtains as Temp and I jump in excitement holding hands as she says "They loved us. You both were great. Superb hand-eye coordination there, Buckie."
Booth then says, "We could have killed you." I nod, "True. But there in lies the excitement for the spectators." We then pay back attention to the following acts as the owner says, "Mighty Magnum!" We watch him carrying a hammer as Booth then says, "Oh, my god. Magnum, look!" We then see Magnum hit a board sending a person into the air landing onto a seat as I nod, "He definitely has the upper body strength to swing the foam barbell hard enough to cause those fractures." The owner then speaks, "Check out those arms of steel!" We all looked at each other and nod. The performance was over as we go out and see Magnum as Booth says, "Hey there, big guy, you got a minute?" "For what?" I was walked ahead behind where Magnum was sitting a bit away from him as Booth says as Temp and him go walking closer, "I want to ask you a question about my friends, Julie and Jenny." Magnum slams his hands on the table standing up, "No, this is getting old. I told you, they were here, they left, that's all I know. Okay, now check with some other circuses maybe." Temp then says, "They're dead but you knew that, didn't you?" "Dead? What are you talking about?" I then speak, "Their heads were smashed together." Booth nods, "Weren't they, Magnum?" Magnum shakes his head real quick but then starts running over to where a wooden pole. He pushes it grunting a bit as it breaks making a net fall onto Temp and Booth.
Magnum then starts to run as I also getting right in front of his path, "Running is not going to help you Magnum." I am not sure why I chose this way to stop him or what he thought as he ran towards me and not stopping lifts me up and throws me over his shoulder with ease as I yelp. I couldn't move since he was moving to much and had a great grip on me as I hear Booth and Temp yell out my name. I then feel my phone slipping out of my shirt as I catch it to see it was ringing. I answer it as I hear Wendell on the other line, Hey, Doll. How's the case going?" "Hey bub... uh, I am a bit in a pickle right now. I am currently being kidnapped I think, but I don't think he will harm me." "Wait what? Kidnapped?! Where's Agent Booth or Dr. Brennan!" "They are currently caught in a net, but I will need to call you back later when things settle down... I don't think Magnum could hear anything right now because of his freaked out state." "I will call Booth and I will also come..." Before I could hear what he had to say, I didn't see Magnum jump over something making the movement a bit more erratic as I yelp and drop the phone. But the last thing I did hear was Wendall calling out my name asking I was there before completely out of hearing. I sigh thinking that I needed to find another way out of this situation.
After a few minutes I felt Magnum finally stop running as he carefully puts me down onto a crate. We were still in the circus area, but in a good hidden unknown area. I see him freaking out as he walks back and forth talking to himself as he then looks over at me then looks around finding some rope as he comes back to me and tying my hands and legs to make sure I don't run away. I just sigh, "Please don't put some sort of tape on my mouth. I won't yell, plus I am already getting uncomfortable with you tying me up..." He then moves a crate over in front of me and sits facing me, "Who are you people? Are you cops?" I sit and think for a bit thinking that Booth would have already blown our cover as I then nod, "Yes and no. I or the other woman you know as Wanda are not. But Buck is with the FBI. Let me introduce myself better... or as much as I can, my name is Dr. Venus Brennan. I am the Director of the Jeffersonian Institution in D.C. and help with the FBI Agent Booth Seeley solve cases alongside my sister Dr. Temperance Brennan who you know as Wanda." I then see Magnum freaking out even more as he holds his head in his hands, "Aw man, I kidnapped someone working with the FBI... I didn't kill the girls."
He looks at me as I look at his eyes as he continues, "I loved those girls... we all do. It was an accident..." I could see that he wasn't lying as I nod, "I believe you... but you are the one who buried the girls right?" He nods as I then say, "That is covering up evidence and you will be spending time on that." He sighs as I start feeling the rope a bit more tightly as I shift around uncomfortable. Magnum then looks up seeing me jittery as I say, "Sorry, but could you remove the rope off me... I have PTSD, not as sever as others... but I do get occasional episodes if something triggers it and being bounded is one of them." I see Magnum hesitating as to believe if I am lying or not, but decides to unbind me as my jitters are getting a bit worse. Once fully loose I massage my wrists sighing in relief as Magnum asks, "Why do you believe me so easily?" I look at him, "Because if you were actually a bad person, then you would've never untie me and let my episode occur. Plus, it's your eyes that tells me that you are not lying. My sister only believes in facts, I do as well but I think it's important to have a balance between facts and instincts." He nods as I look around and then sigh, "You know... I would never think I would be having this experience as my first time coming and seeing a circus." Magnum looks shocked, "This is your first time seeing a circus?!" I nod, "Yes, I had some pretty traumatic past that prevented me from seeing a circus or doing what other kids got to do during that time. But I do must say, I am still having a blast... even though you kidnapped me."
For another few hours Magnum had decided to tell me stories about everything about what happened in the circus and all it's fun. I listened to everything and coming with a conclusion that he and everyone here really loves the circus and would do anything to keep it running. I then started talking to him about the twins on how they died. He then decides to tell them everything on how they died, as I realize it was just an accident. After talking for a few more minutes, I had convince him that we should go back and tell Booth and Temp what happened and we could figure out something that won't put the circus in jeopardy. We were walking back to the main camping site as we see Temp and Booth walking back to the trailer as we go up to them as Magnum says, "I didn't kill them." They turn around seeing both of us as Temp sighs in relief as she opens her arms for me to hug her as I smile running to her giving her a big hug as I then say, "He didn't kill them. He loved them." Magnum nods "I would never hurt them." I look at Temp and Booth as they looked at me as well as Temp says, "We know." "I buried them. They needed a proper burial." Madam Nina then comes over to us, "Don't say anything, Magnum."
Temp then says, "You asked them not to go on the high wire, but that's exactly what they wanted to do." Booth adds, "It's probably the only thing Julie and Jenny ever agreed on." I nod, "When they dropped to the net, the force of the fall snapped their heads together." Booth adds, "An accident like that, their mother definitely would've sued. The circus would never have survived. You know, I'm going to have to arrest you for interference with a dead body." I then say, "We're sorry. Aren't we?" I look at Temp and Booth as they both nod as I then add, "I will provide you with a good lawyer." Magnum nods then adds pointing over to his circus family, "Just don't bring them into this. I don't want to see the circus die because of me."
Booth then says, "What you're going to have to explain, is why you wrapped them in a sheet because that's something a woman would do out of respect." Temp adds, "You'll also have to explain how you forged their handwriting on a note." Magnum nods, "Yeah. I will. Thanks." I wave Magnum bye, "Thank you for your amazing stories about the circus life... I really enjoy them." He smiles a bit nodding as he leaves with the rest of the circus crew supporting him as Booth says, "I will call up the Dallas field office, and have them pick him up." Temp then asks, "Think he'll run again?" I shake my head, "No, he won't run. He loves his family to do that to them." Booth then ruffle my hair as I chuckle, "Good to have you back Blueberry." "Glad to be back Ranger." He then takes out my phone, "We found this dropped onto the ground. You had a lot of messages and few missed calls, but I couldn't open your phone to see who it was." I nod grabbing it, "Thanks." Temp and Booth head back inside the trailer as I check my phone to see that it was Wendell who was trying to contact me again. I smile a bit and decided to call him. I waited a few seconds as he picks up, "Venus! That's you right?!" "It's me Bub." "Thank goodness. Are you alright? You're not hurt?" "I am fine. I got no scratches on me. It turns out that this was a accident and everything was just a sad tragedy and now Magnum is taking the blame to not get the circus to close." "That's tough. But I am glad you are alright." I smile, "Thanks. Next time if I go to another circus, I want to just view it and not be apart of it. Having a circus life is a tough job." I hear him laugh a bit, "How about when you come back, I take you to a circus for fun." "I will like that very much." We talk for the rest of the night about different things until we had to go to sleep.
The next morning I wake up to someone opening the trailer door. I sit up seeing an umbrella shading me from the sun as I slept on the roof as I look down seeing Booth was the one outside. I then look around seeing that the place was deserted and everyone was gone. I then see Temp coming out with three cups of coffee as I climbed down the roof as she hands me my coffee as we walk next to Booth as Temp says, "They're gone." I nod as Booth says, "Yeah." I add, "We slept through it." Booth then reads the flyer, "Boris, Anna, and Natasha and their Russian Knives of Death.' I guess we all got it in us, huh? The desire to run off and join the circus." I nod as Temp says, "We did it." I nod as Booth adds, "Buck, Wanda, and Lilith were damn good." I nod, "Yes they were." Temp then says, "Buck was more dashing than you. I mean, Buck drove a motorcycle." "Wanda was funner than you." "How?" "Well, she let me knock off a rubber nose from her face with her knife. You would never let me do that. You're way too rational." We all chuckle as I then say, "I think Lilith and I are one of the same... we both share the same problems and excitement." They nod, "Where do you think they are now?" Booth then says, "Over the horizon." We then just enjoyed the silence around us enjoying our fun adventure.
