TWO HEARTS IN ONE HOME-093
FIVE MONTH LATER
Five months past since the war with Negan had ended and the new lives of Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom had started. Alexandria was being rebuilt with the help of a lot of people, houses and the church were in the process of being fixed and repaired.
The Grimes sisters, their father, Michonne, and Max had moved into one of the large houses at the opposite side of the safe-zone. Daryl was staying at the sanctuary, helping the remaining Saviors get on their feet.
Matilda and Max had gone between living in Alexandria and the Sanctuary, traveling back and fourth until she couldn't anymore.
Once she hit eight months (34 weeks) in her pregnancy, it was extremely difficult doing back and fourth between the two places. Her body was exhausted, the baby was sitting on her bladder, which made her pee constantly, and they were kicking up a storm.
She had spoken to Daryl over the walkie talkie that she wasn't coming to the Sanctuary anymore and that she was going to stay in Alexandria for the rest of the pregnancy, which he had agreed to.
Kelly had came back to Alexandria with Aaron so they could raise Gracie together, the same goes with Violet, Rosie, and Edith.
Currently, Matilda was now nine months (39 weeks) pregnant—due any day—, she was laying in bed feeling extremely reckless. It was too uncomfortable to sleep, and she felt as though as she could ran a marathon.
Getting out of bed—with great difficulty, she put of her clothes and boots, grabbed her weapons and slipped in a coat. Tilly placed her gun in her waistline, stepping out her room, heading towards the stairs—not trying to wake up her family, but she wasn't lucky as a squeak over a door opened.
Matilda looked towards the sound and saw her baby sister, peeking her head out of her door. The woman waved Judith over, picking her up and headed downstairs.
She got her sister in her winter cloths before the two Grimes girls headed out the door. The cold air of January hit their in the face as Tilly closed the door behind her, walking down the steps and headed down the street.
As they walked, Matilda held her sister's hand, swinging it back and fourth as their boots crunched the snow. The pair got to the pavilion, their brother use to sit on, sitting on the new seats.
Michonne and their father had rebuilt the pavilion, dedicating it to their sons and named it. Carl and Lee's pavilion. It was were Matilda and Judith spent a lot of their days together, painting with each other or just watching as everyone rebuilt their home.
With Max and Daryl at the Sanctuary and Michonne and her father focused on rebuilding Alexandria, she only had Judith.
Her little butterfly. Her Papillon.
Her last Papillon.
"Judy, do you want to feel something?" She asked as the baby stated to kick.
Judith turned her body towards her big sister with a smile. "Yes, Til."
Matilda smiled, taking her sister's tiny hand and placed it on the area the baby was kicking. "Do you feel it?"
The toddler's scrunched up with concentration before it morphed into a bright smile. The baby had kicked her hand making Judith bounce with excitement.
"Feel it?" She inquiries and received a nod. "That the baby kicking."
"Baby in Til's tummy?" Judith titled her head as she looked up at her sister.
"Yeah, Jude, the baby in my tummy. They move a lot when you are around. They must really like you." Tilly said, fixing the toddler's hat.
"Wikes me. Baby wikes me." The three year old grinned, as she leant her face towards her sister's belly. "Hi, baby."
Matilda played with Judith's hair with a soft smile, watching as her sister interacted with her baby. The baby seemed to really move when either Daryl, Max, or Judith was around, especially when they talk.
She internally cooed when Judith planted a kiss on her stomach making the baby kick. Her sister giggles, poking the area which made the baby kick again.
The Grimes sisters had sat under the pavilion what seemed like hours, she started to feel a bit of pain a little while back, which she ignored. But now it more frequent and intense, she took a sharp breath and leant forwards slightly.
Matilda sit up, helping her sister off the branch and headed back towards the house. As they walked, another intense pain hit making her stop and grunt. Judith looked at her with concern as she realized something was wrong with her sister.
"What's wrong, Til?" The toddler asked as her sister doubled over in pain. "Til?!"
"Judy, y-you gotta go get daddy and Michonne. C-can you do that for me?" Matilda said with clutched teeth.
Judith nodded before running back to the house. She raised on her tippy toes, opening the door and climbed up the stairs to her parents's bedroom.
"Daddy! Daddy!" The toddler screamed as she pushed out the door of her father's room. "Daddy!"
Rick and Michonne shot up, stumbling out of bed and looked at the little girl and her father shouted. "Judith!"
"Til! Baby coming!" Judith yelled, pointing outside.
Rick's eyes widen as he told Michonne to stay with Judith before he ran out of the house with just a t-shirt and pajama pant on. He looked around frantically and saw his daughter hunched over on the ground in the middle of the street.
"Tilly!"
He sprinted towards her, stopping next to her and swung her arm around his shoulder. Helping her up, she grunted in pain as they walked towards the house.
Once inside, they made their way up the stairs into her bedroom and helped her on the bed. Michonne came into the room, her face filled with concern.
"Michonne, go get Kelly!" Rick shouted as he tried to get his daughter comfortable. His girlfriend rushed out of the room. "It's okay, baby. Breathe for me."
Matilda groan as a sharp pain hit. "Dad, it hurts."
"I know, Til. Just breathe, you can do it." Rick smoothed back some of her hair that started to stick to her face.
Loud footsteps came up stairs and Kelly and Violet appeared with Michonne behind them. Kelly took one look at her best friend and immediately got into action, she ordered her sister to get the supplies and materials.
"I need to check how dilated you are. Rick, help me move her closer to the bottom of the bed." She ordered.
Her and Rick carefully shifted the heavily pregnant woman down. The blonde covered her best friend's lower half with a sheet before pulling off Matilda's pants and undergarments.
Kelly asked Matilda to bent her knees so that she can check her. As she checked her best friend, Violet came back with the supplies and Rosie in tow.
"You're fully dilated. Violet, Rosie, hurry." Kelly said, as her sisters got everything in their place. She looked up at her best friend. "It's time, Matilda. You need to push."
Matilda shook her head. "No. I can't push. Daryl, he's not here. He needs to be here."
Kelly glanced between Rick and Michonne before looking back to her best friend. "There's no time. You gotta push, Matilda."
"No!" The woman cried. "I can't."
Michonne brushed some hair of her face before planting a kiss on her head. "I'll call him. Push, Tilly, push."
The dark woman hurried out of the room, grabbing the walkie talkie and pushed down the button. "I need to speak to Daryl Dixon. It's urgent!"
The walkie crackled with static before Daryl's voice came though. "What's goin' on?"
"You need to get to Alexandria right now. You and Max." Michonne said, hastily as a scream from Matilda's room echoed. "Matilda, she's in labor."
In was silent for a hot minute before he spoke. "Shit! I'm coming!"
The walkie went silent again as she tossed the thing on the bed and hurried back to Tilly. She climbed on the bed on other side of Rick, took the woman's hand.
Rick held her other hand, padded a cool wet cloth against his daughter's sweat covered face as she gave another push. A grunt escaped her mouth, squeezing her father's and Michonne's hands as pain shot though her.
"Okay, Matilda, I see the head." Kelly said, seeing the baby's head crowning. "One more big push."
Matilda looked up at her father with tears in her eyes. "I can't do it, daddy."
"You can, baby. You've gotta." Rick cupped her left cheek, his thumb caressed it, softly. "One more push and we get to see the little firefly. Ready?"
"Ready." She said, strained.
Matilda lunched forwards, screaming as pain shot through her body. She squeezed her father's and Michonne's hands as she gave one more push before falling back against the bed.
A cry echoed though the room, making Matilda cry. She watched as Kelly gave her the baby after patting its back.
Her baby against the bare skin of her chest as they cried. Matilda looked down at them, wiping their face.
"Hi, Luciole."
An hour later, Matilda and the baby was cleaned up and settled in the bed. The woman was asleep with Judith on the best next to her also sleep. Rick was sitting on the chair next to her bed with a smile as he hold his grandchild.
Footsteps came up the stairs and Daryl and Max appeared at the door. The redneck's and the boy's eyes instantly locked on the woman, who was resting before turning to Rick.
Rick smiled as he stood up. "Brother..."
Daryl and Rick meet in the middle, the leader of Alexandria gave his best friend the baby with a smile.
"Congratulations, brother."
Daryl looked down at his child, who was blinking up at him. Rick picked up Judith, ruffled Max's hair before leaving the family alone. The eleven year old carefully climbed on the bed, watching as his father seemed to be in shock.
"She's beautiful, isn't she?"
Daryl snapped his head towards his wife, who was smiling at him tiredly. "She?"
Matilda chuckled at her husband as she wrapped arm around her son. "Our daughter."
The redneck looked back down at his daughter and admired her appearance. She had a head of brown hair, her tiny face was pale with barely visible freckles across her nose and identical blue eyes.
"What's her name?" He asked, lightly running a fighter across her cheek.
"Cassidy Lee Dixon."
