Kongpob

He wakes up before dawn. Arthit is snuggled close to him with an arm thrown around him and his head on Kongpob's shoulder. Unable to stop himself Kongpob reached out his hand to run his fingers through Arthit's silky dark hair. He looked so peaceful.

"This is all our fault." Kongpob says to Moon.

"I know... It's always our fault..." Sadness lingers in the air between both of them.

"We should have never dragged him here... and forced him to come to us..."

"I don't regret it anymore."

"I thought you were against it?" Kongpob questioned Moon.

"I was. But leaving him with them... that would have been the worst thing. That I don't  regret it for a second." Arthit's face was so angelic. He was so innocent, it was hard for Kongpob to believe that he was real. Yet, there was a sadness in having such an angel in their presence. He felt otherworldly. Kongpob was afraid. Arthit was in danger of being taken away. Someone like Arthit didn't deserve what life he'd lived so far.

Arthit's eyes began to flutter open and when they did they looked back at Kongpob with a look of innocence. A thought came to him then as he looked at the Omega's soft lips. What if he kissed him? The idea came as fast as it went and Kongpob chalked it up to Moon desiring the Omega. He did not want to admit that the voice inside his head was not Moon's but his own inner voice wanting and wishing. At this point this was not what Arthit wanted nor needed from him.

"Not that he would ever give me a chance." That thought in itself brought a strange feeling to his heart that he did not want to describe or think about.

"Is something wrong?" Came Arthit's soft voice as he looked back at him in question. He was still in his arms and it seemed as though Arthit was yet to become aware as he was still quite sleepy. The moment he did however a soft hue spread across his cheeks and he seemed to want to stand.

"How are you feeling?" Kongpob questioned.

"Sore," Arthit answered after a few minutes. Kongpob smiled.

"That's good. It means that the herbs have worked." Curiously Arthit removed the herbs that were wrapped around his shoulder and gasped as he realized that not only had his wound healed overnight but the scar was gone. He began removing more and more along his arms and old scars were fading.

"Because they weren't open wounds the scars will take longer to disappear. Each night I will do this for you until-"

"There's no need." Arthit quickly spoke up.

"They're ugly scars... but no one will see them." Arthit's voice had gone quiet.

"But you don't like them. You see them." Arthit was quiet for a moment. There was a knock on the door and Arthit blushed realizing that his back was the only thing covered. Kongpob felt his own cheeks redden and he quickly looked away trying to ignore the sight of the porcelain skin of the Omega.

Another knock was heard and Arthit quickly covered his body with the silk sheets as it opened.

"Mother!" Kongpob spoke up. The Queen for a moment was surprised but she smiled.

"You've used the leaves."  She walked over to Arthit and then touched his forehead.

"How are you feeling? No fever?" His mother then turned to look at him.

"Xia Yu Ping isn't getting any better. His fever's not leaving and even with the herbs he's healing quite slowly."

"Is he going to be okay?" Arthit questioned. Despite how grateful Kongpob was to the other man he could not help the anger that surged through him the moment Arthit seemed concerned for him.

"I don't know."

"I want to see him."

"You can't. Not now. Healer Achara has asked that he stay isolated. There are some things that she has prepared for him. He must remain in isolation for the upcoming days. She has him hidden somewhere in the woods. But you, You must also go see her. She wishes to talk to you about what happened in the woods." Despite his confusion, Arthit turned to look at him.

"Can't he rest for a couple more days? I don't want to risk"

"She has prepared a barrier that will take that person a few weeks to break."

"Weeks? He will still try to-"

"I want to go." Kongpob knew more than wanting to have an explanation he realized that what Arthit wanted was to see that mongrel. Arthit turned to look at him those damn eyes pleaded and before he could say no Moon had agreed for him. Arthit smiled warmly and then headed towards the bathroom with the silk sheets wrapped around him.

"I'll call someone to prepare your bath," Kongpob says. Arthit turns and offers a smile maybe it's the way the light hits his face or the way time seems to stop and his smile, the way his eyes crinkle in the perfect way that made him catch his breath as Arthit closed the door behind him. He was about to follow Arthit as though hypnotized only for his mother to clear her throat.

"Nothing happened." He found himself saying his mother smirked at him.

"I know. Arthit would never allow such a thing to happen between the two of you."

"I'll call a few maids." His mother said to him.

"Unless you want-"

"Call the maids!" A flustered Kongpob spoke. His mother laughed as she left the room.

Arthit

He felt ridiculous. The Queen had someone make a hooded coat for him with Clouds wool. It was long white, and warm. Woven into it were markings and patterns in gold that belonged solely to the Suthiluck Clan. When Arthit had asked the queen what a single patch meant that was on his heart she had smiled. It is Kongpob's personal crest. You as his mate shall wear it. Arthit thought back to his brother. Never had he seen anything like this on him. Somehow... that gave him a strange feeling inside his heart.

The air itself was cold and Kongpob had even suggested wrapping a blanket around him before they left to see Achara. It made Arthit feel as though he was pitied and as though he would break any second. Kongpob wasn't even in his wolf form. He'd brought his horse out so that the two could comfortably ride together. The hold Kongpob had on him made Arthit feel strange. Around them were Bright, Wad, Prem, and Aim. Byul was now being considered a future Queen of Prince Korn's kingdom and therefore had stayed back.

Arthit looked back at Kongpob as they rode. The man had a stoic look on his face but Arthit wondered just how annoyed the other man must have been as he had clearly tightened security. Around them, Arthit could feel there was something protecting them. It was a very thin veil of it that could be seen by the naked eye white mist surrounded them and it had gotten colder due to this.

A shiver ran up Arthit's spine the moment Kongpob's eyes met his own.

"Are you cold?" Kongpob squeezed his body closer to his and pulled the coat closer. There was a very soft scent that surrounded him. It was warm and comforting. He was startled for a moment when Kongpob rested his chin on his head softly.

"Sunshine..."

Thinking of the wolf that lay somewhat dormant inside him he didn't know if he should tell the other man about her.

"Sunshine." This time he called out to her. It was a moment but he felt something deep within his chest that told him she was there.

They continued to ride in silence. Arthit found comfort in it as he and Kongpob were not even at the stage where they could comfortably talk. At least, he didn't feel that way. By the time they arrived, Seer Achara was already waiting for them. Kongpob got off the horse first jumping off it effortlessly before he signals the horse to go down. Arthit was taken aback as the horse lowered itself. He could feel himself falling but was immediately caught in Kongpob's arms.

"I got you."

"I can walk..." Arthit whispered once he realized that they were being watched by everyone else. Kongpob didn't let him go however instead he took hold of his hand and guided him toward Seer Achara's small home within the tree while everyone else waited outside.

Already, she was brewing a large pot of herbs.

"Is this for him?" Kongpob questioned.

"Yes. But it's not quite ready yet. It needs some more time. Right now, I want to ask Arthit what he saw. What did you experience?" Seer Achara questioned. For a moment, Arthit was quiet. He was unsure if he should tell her everything that he had experienced. Would she think he was crazy?

"It's okay Arthit." Kongpob comforted while taking his hand.

"Mist. It was dark. That wolf when he was chasing us... I've never seen anything like it." Arthit spoke.

"Did it say anything?" Arthit nodded.

"Why is it after me? I've never..."

"We come from reincarnation. I've said it before if your life was at one point ended at an earlier time or if your death was unjust, maybe your love was lost. The goddess always grants those deserving souls a second chance."

"But he isn't here." Arthit found himself saying. Tears began to blur his eyes and the more he thought of the fact that he would no doubt have to retry once more caused him great fear.

"I can't remember the past. But what I do know is that I don't want to repeat another life again." He spoke up. Seer Achara was quiet for a moment. Something flickered in her eyes that was too quick for him to catch. Kongpob who was beside him squeezed his hand. Part of him felt guilty for saying what he had but Kongpob was not his love. He was not his mate. Kongpob didn't even like him as a friend let alone a human. The Prince had no genuine affection for him other than pity.

"Has she come to you? Your wolf?" For a second he was stunned unsure of what to say. While looking at both people in front of him he wondered if he should speak.

"Tell them" Came the inner voice to whom he had once thought lost.

"Yes. I can't quite... understand all that she says to me but she's there. I can feel her. But she-"

"She never left you." Seer Achara explained.

"When your mate was killed she merely took her energy and saved you. Many people believe that a human and a wolf are the same soul. But our wolves in fact have their own soul. They think, they feel, and sometimes do different things than we do. But both the human soul and wolf soul share this one human vessel. Eventually, with time we become one almost merging into one another. For some, it's harder than others to do so. But one cannot live without the other. Aside from mates, no one else can match more to you than your wolf. You are one and even in death you shall remain interlocked to one another."

Arthit couldn't help but smile and feel grateful to his wolf. Now it was as though whenever he thought of her he could feel her. And when he did, it was this strange feeling of warmth and love. Something that he had never truly felt so genuinely from anyone. Somehow he felt that he was complete, and felt that even if he could not have his mate at least he would have someone at his side that loved him forever.

"Arthit. You need to become stronger from now on." Seer Achara spoke.

"You need to work on making her stronger. And in order for you to do that you must make your own body, mind, and soul grow so that she may grow with you."

"What do you have in mind?" Kongpob questioned.

"From now on I will be visiting you myself. The tea that I have brewed for you will no longer work. You will need something stronger because now that she is starting to emerge she burns through what heels you. It needs to be brewed three times a day and eventually, with her strength you will no longer need it. The purpose of these teas is to make you grow stronger." Seer Achara explained.

"But you must also start training your body."

"I can train him myself," Kongpob spoke.

"No, have Wad do it. Their bodies are much alike Wad will know how far to push and what he won't be able to do." Seer Achara spoke.

"So he will come for me." Arthit realized.

"Yes." Seer Achara explained.

"Why?"

"You are the reincarnation of the Moon Goddess's child." For a moment Arthit laughed. He could not believe the joke that was said but when neither Kongpob nor Seer Achara laughed there was a huge feeling of dread.

"No... That's not possible. How could I be..." Achara smiled at him.

"You might not remember it but you were."

"How? Why?"

"It's a tale from a long time ago. One that the stars have only told me."

"It was said that the goddess was a creation of the constellations. The first to greet her into this world was the Moon. Therefore she took his name in order to honor him. Beside her was a wolf. They created humans and watched over them. But The Moon Goddess yearned for something humans had that she could not."

"What is that?" Arthit questioned softly.

"Love," Achara spoke with a warm smile.

"The Sun, who has always watched her from afar came down and became her partner. They had children together, ones that were like them. But, the Moon Goddess was so enamored with The Sun that she forgot about everything and everyone. Not the Earth, or the stars that had created her, or even the moon or the wolf at her side. The Humans were suffering, and many of them became angry and violent. Her wolf tried to warn her, but instead, she ran off only with the sun."

"And her children?" Kongpob questioned appalled. Achara smiled bitterly.

"She forgot about them completely and left to create a new universe where she could be with him. She had to let go of her children. One would be the new guardian the other the new sun. They were each given a wolf. By the Moon himself."

"And her wolf?" Arthit questioned in concern.

"He must have felt so lonely and abandoned." Achara nodded sadly.

"He was given the task to look for another companion. One worthy of becoming like us."

"And did he? Find another?" Kongpob questioned. Achara smiled.

"Yes. One worthy of everything. He came from nothing, had no family, or friends, he was marred from his face. Everyone treated him poorly. But he always smiled, kept his head up, and worked quite hard."

"What was his name?" Arthit questioned. Seer Achara said nothing for a moment she looked off into the distance but smiled to herself.

"The stars aren't that talkative." She spoke with a smile.

"So the moon Goddess abandoned us?" Kongpob questioned. Seer Achara nodded.

"Yes. She was so enamored with the sun and his brightness that she was blinded by love and only loving him."

"What about the children?" Arthit questioned. His own mother had not loved him and as he thought about the Moon Goddess a sudden burst of anger struck him.

"Is that why my life is like this?" He was unable to stop himself from asking the question. Kongpob turned to look at him confused and Arthit couldn't help but look back at him bitterly.

"Am I being punished? The mother I have now, she never loved me. Was I that much of a burden to the Moon Goddess? Did she curse me?"

"No." Seer Achara quickly spoke.

"This is not your fault and she did not curse you...."

"Then why is this happening? What am I paying for?"

"Love," Achara spoke sadly.

"I don't understand." Kongpob began.

"When The Moon Goddess left it was both her children that were chosen to take over for her. But just as she did, they too fell in love. Their loves, however, were human. For her eldest, son it seemed much more possible. His lover was kind, nurturing, and well-accepted amongst the humans. But her youngest's son's lover."

"Who was he?" Arthit finds himself asking.

"He was an orphan, he lived on his own, he was badly scarred and the village where he lived shunned him. But, he was kind, brave, and pure. The Moon Goddesses' child saw something in him; you saw something in him."

"So this is his fault? That person? Did he do something to Arthit?" Kongpob questioned.

"Of course not. He loved him." Seer Achara spoke. When she turned to look back at Arthit she smiled and took his hand.

"He was gentle, kind, loving. He is the boy the Moon Goddess's wolf chose. A human that was worthy." Arthit smiled yet he could not help the sadness and bitterness he felt in his heart.

"Then what happened? How did I end up like this?" Seer Achara looked at him sadly.

"Acheron."

"When the Moon Goddess and the sun created a world all for themselves they opened something up. A black hole that consumed all evil. It fed on the hate and abandonment felt by the human world. He wanted to have you. Because you were the Moon Goddess's child. He killed your brother and his mate without any remorse. He wanted to blame your mate but you saw through his lies. That angered him. You almost killed him in your past life. He killed your mate and you left him badly wounded." Fear was felt throughout Arthit's body at seer Achara's words.

"The Moon Goddess had been so far away that she had not felt her firstborn's death. But the Moon finally went down to see her after the chaos that Acheron had caused. He'd killed all the humans, all animals, all living things, and you had been left practically on your deathbed. Your mate had sacrificed himself for you." Tears were falling down Arthit's eyes and Kongpob remained frozen in his spot.

"When she finally came she was too late. She tried to apologize to her son. After seeing the destruction around her she had finally come to her senses. She didn't want to lose her other child. The world needed to be recreated once more. Without hesitation, her son used what was left of his energy to go. The sun after losing everything regretted but the sky itself was furious. Her child had done what the moon goddess could not, he had given everything for the sake of everyone else."

"What happened then?" Came Arthit's soft whisper.

"The moon goddess was able to gather what little energy was left behind by her children and their lovers and along with her own power and the Sun's she was able to start the world again. She begged the moon, the stars, and the sky to give her back her children. She and the sun both begged for a thousand days and nights. She tried to get her wolf to help her but he was too grief-stricken. The mate that belonged to him had died as had his chosen human. Your mate..." Seer Achara spoke.

"Again, the moon was first to interject. He made sure to give life back to the eldest son, and your mate. The sky liked the eldest son's mate and intervenes for him with the help of the moon creating a wolf to guide him onward and keep him safe from tragedy again in his next life."

"That's when we merged right?" Kongpob questioned. Seer Achara offered a smile and nodded.

"Your mate's wolf was willing as was your wolf Sunshine and your brother's wolf. They all loved you three very much..." Seer Achara frowned.

"The sky, stars, even the moon thought that you needed to be challenged. Prove yourselves worthy. You would all forget. But that damn stubborn wolf of your mates... each time you all forget and start over. Acheron has made sure to involve himself each time. It never ends well."

"And the moon goddess?" Kongpob questions out loud. Arthit wonders the same as anger continues to wash over him.

"She's paying a great price. Because her youngest was stronger he needed more to live. The sun realized his love was blinding the moon goddess. He gave part of his strength to you so that you could hold on and be born again. He vowed to never see the moon goddess again. His love had blinded her... she would never be able to see her children again. They would never remember her. They would never love her again."

"Good," Arthit spoke unable to hide his bitterness.

"Arthit.."

"No! This is her fault! He's gone! They're all gone! I don't have anyone and it's all her fault! I hate her! I hate everyone!"

"Arthit."

"I hate you too!" Arthit yelled as tears continued to fall down his eyes. Kongpob pulled him into a tight hug that Arthit tried to break. His emotions were a mess and he could only hit Kongpob with his fist until he no longer could stop his damn emotions from bursting.

"I'm sorry...I'm really sorry." Over and over Kongpob repeated these words to him until he calmed. He had not noticed when Seer Achara had left only that he and Kongpob were together.

"I'm sorry Arthit. For everything I've done to you."
