-No One POV-

Booth and Brennan are back at morgue as Booth talks. "According to Bureau files, Rene Mouton headed up a small voodoo church. By all accounts, he was a very good man. Now, he rescued scores of people during Katrina. Then he just disappeared. Some thought he was just swept away when the levee broke." Brennan asks, "Why would anyone murder him?" "You know the chaos, during the evacuation. Could even have been for a bottle of water." Then Sam comes up to them with a suggestion, "Or because he was a priest. The gris-gris box, the murder of Dr. Legiere, the unconscious state of Dr. Venus, your amnesia-- this is the work of a bokor, a Secte Rouge sorcerer. Rene Mouton was a houngan, a powerful and well-loved priest. For Secte Rouge to claim his soul, this would give them influence on all the people that he influenced." Brennan then suggests, "Like a chain letter."

Booth then adds, "Or in the real world, somebody who wanted his shoes." "No, Booth, it makes sense." "Wait? What does?" "Venus, Graham and I were on the trail of a broker..." Sam corrects her, "Bokor." "And he found out, or Secte Rouge did." Booth nods, "Allright, great. Then we just toss the ring into the molten river and blah, blah, right? Look, in the meantime, somebody here had the ability to hide Mouton's body and files." Brennan suggests, "James Embry." Sam then adds, "Me." Brennan continues, "Mike Doyle." Booth then suggests, "Say you wanted to hide a particular body and you didn't want anyone to find out-- where would you put it?" They all looked at each other and start walking.

They entered where they keep all of the bodies as Sam speaks, "If I wanted to hide a body, I'd change the nametag on the coffin." Brennan speaks out after checking one of the coffins, "Not Mouton, too young." Booth then adds, "He's buried, and the evidence is gone forever." Brennan checks another casket, "Female. You know, I find that hard to believe that horny little Mike Doyle is a voodoo sorcerer." Brennan opens another casket revealing Mikes dead body as Booth looks at it to, "Mm. Me, too." Brennan adds, "Speak of the devil, it's Mike Doyle and he is not alone."

They are in the examination room as Detective Harding was there to investigate. Brennan whispers to Booth, "You said to avoid the police." "Not cooperating is one thing, Bones, okay? Concealing a double homicide? We might as well give them an excuse to hang us." Harding comes over to them, "Dr. Embry says that you can identify the bag of bones." "The skeletal remains belong to a man named Rene Mouton. His skull is missing." James then speaks, "Looks to me that Mike was drugged; a spike was driven through his head during or immediately following sexual intercourse." "Well, it appears that Dr. Brennan, Dr. Embry, and Sam Potter here are the only three people who could have pulled this off." Booth then adds, "Sam Potter brought us to the body; we called you in. Who does that leave?" Harding looks at James as he speaks, "Oh, please. There's no security in this place. Anyone could have gotten in here."

Brennan then asks, "You said that Mike was having sex when he died. James, he must have been killed by the coffin girl."  Harding then asks, "What?" Booth then asks, "What's her name?" James then answers, "Well, I never got her name." Brennan then asks, "Is there a mojo in Doyle's mouth?" Harding then answers, "I don't feel comfortable releasing that..." "The girl is a voodoo sorcerer. She works for Secte Rouge." Booth then adds in, "Detective Harding, I know this is, you know, sounds superstitious, but..." "Three ritual murders and two world-renowned anthropologist, one who hasn't woken up and another who can't remember how both her and her sister end up smeared with the blood of a skinned man, crucified to a wall with spikes. Call me superstitious."

Sam then speaks up, "Excuse me. May I scatter fwan ginea over Mr. Mouton? To purify his remains." Harding says, "No! No more of this voodoo crap. I don't want you contaminating the body." Brennan asks, "What is it?" "Ashes from a ritual fire pit. Ashes from a dove's feather, salt mixed with holy water." Booth nods, "Okay, okay, you know, we get the idea, just..." Brennan cuts Booth off, "It should have no effect on the bones, Detective Harding." "Fine, fine, go ahead." Sam starts doing the ritual and sprinkles the fwan ginea. Then the bones started to react as Booth freaks out a bit, "Whoa! Did you see that?" Brennan nods, "Very interesting phenomenon. The electrostatic charge of the particles reacted with bone. Angela was unable to recreate the pattern from the X-rays using the best technology in the world." Booth then adds, "Electrostatic, my ass. That was part of an emblem of a 1959 Caddy Brougham... Oh, boy." Harding then asks, "What?" Brennan answers, "The Voodoo shop guy owns a 1959 Cadillac." Booth adds, "He's got a voodoo daughter." The start leaving to head towards the shop.

At the same time Venus wakes up and recalls everything that happened that day and she quickly looks around seeing that she is in a hospital. She starts getting up when she instantly feels pain and quickly stops and grabs her left side of her stomach, looks down remembering that she got stabbed. "How long have I been unconscious for? Where is Temp? I need to find her." Venus forces herself up while holding her left side and was about to head towards the door as she heard two people outside of her door talking, "Hey, we switch shifts in about five minutes, right?" "Yeah, we just have to wait until the next people come so they could keep an eye on the suspect." Venus was confused on why she was a suspect, but knew that if she was to walk out of there she would be arrested even before she gets to say anything or see Temp.

She waits for a bit to see if there is any more information that she could get from. She then hears two other people come up to the two police guards, "Hey, you can take go know. I just got a call from Detective Harding saying that she was heading towards that voodoo shop, and she wants you guys back at the station to prepare for anything." "Alright, we will get going then." They left as Venus started thinking of what Voodoo shop they could be referring to as she remembers recalling Graham telling her about a voodoo shop, he went to get some materials for his research, two days before he got murdered. So, she looked around the room and sees some extra clothes and she quietly made her way over there as she slowly and agonizingly struggled to put them on. Luckly they were loose clothes, so she didn't struggle that much. Once she was done, she heads towards the window seeing that she was on the first floor, which she was thankful for, and she climbed out quietly and steadily walked across the hospital front entrance waving high to the officers earlier without them realizing its actually her. She found a telephone box and luckily had some change in the extra clothes as she dialed up Sam's number knowing that he would know where the Voodoo shop was exactly at.

Back to Booth and Brennan, they made it to the Voodoo shop as Mr. Benoit speaks, "You're taking my Caddy? Why?" Booth then answers, "Why? Because we have reason to believe that your Caddy was used in the wrongful death of Rene Mouton." "You think that someone did a hit-and-run on Rene Mouton in my Caddy?" Brennan nods, "Yes." Booth adds, "Mr. Benoit, does your daughter have a boyfriend?" "Yeah!" Harding asks, as she hands him the photo, "This him?" "Mike Doyle. Yeah. Why?" Booth answers, "We need to speak to your daughter..." Harding clears her throat as Booth corrected himself, "by which I mean Detective Harding needs to speak to your daughter." "I don't know where she is."

Harding then speaks, "Mr. Benoit, right now, she's a suspect in the murder of Mike Doyle." "Why would Eva kill her boyfriend?" Booth answers, "It's hard to explain." Brennan answered, "She was involved in a hit-and-run. When the body surfaced at the morgue, she asked her boyfriend to help her hide it. He refused, so she killed him. Also, she's a member of Secte Rouge." "No, no, no." "I bet there are drugs in this shop that could knock me out, make me forget." They all look at each other as Mr. Benoit speaks, "Eva is downstairs, praying." He leads them downstairs in the basement and stands by the door, "Eva, open the door." Harding moves him aside opening the door and sees that Eva has impaled herself as Mr. Benoit screams and runs to her, "No! Eva." He pulls her out and lays her on the ground, "Oh, God... no..." Brennan looks at the table, "Booth." He heads over to her, "Could that be Mouton's skull?" "Yes. And this could be the spike that she used on Mouton and Mike Doyle." They then hear Sam speak, "This is the lair of a bokor...". They then hear Venus speak, "That's someone who can call the dark spirits, if you didn't know."

Booth and Brennan both turnaround from the sound of Venus voice. They see Sam helping Venus walk a bit as she holds her left side of her stomach as the quickly go up to her. Brennan was the first to hug her and whispers, "I am so happy that you're okay. I am sorry, I couldn't do anything to protect you." "That's okay Temp, I chose to put myself in harm's way. I would do it again if it means that you are safe." Brennan sighs relived as Booth comes over and takes Venus from Sam to support her up, "You gave us a fright their Blueberry. But I am glad you are doing better." "Yeah, it seems that I missed a lot. But let's get back to business for right now. I notice that thing on the wall is used for rituals animal sacrifice. Am I right Sam?" Yes, you are correct." Brennan then points out, "It was heated to red-hot first, to cauterize the wound so it wouldn't bleed."

Booth then asks while helping Venus around, "What, she killed herself because she knew we were coming?" Mr. Benoit then speaks, "No, no, not-not my Eva." Venus looks at him puzzled trying to recall where she has seen him before, but got distracted as Brennan starts talking about the body, "She drove the spike through her sternum?" Booth helped me to the body as Sam speaks, "Sternum, heart. Through the chest cavity, through the spine." Sam then speaks, "Can I open this?" Harding then asks, "What?" "This one holds the soul of Mr. Rene Mouton. I believe this one holds the soul of the bokor." Mr. Benoit then speaks, "Why don't you just shut up?" Sam continues as I think about how impossible it is for the girl to impale herself all the way through, "I would like to release Mr. Mouton's soul, so no other bokor can use it." Harding didn't like the idea, "No, it's evidence. Don't touch it."

Mr. Benoit speaks again, "I raised my Eva to be a houngan, a healer. How could this happen right underneath my nose?" Brennan answers, "Rebellious adolescent?" Venus then ask everyone, "Do you remember how much of this spike was protruding through her back when you first came in?" Booth looks down at her, "Six, eight inches." She look at James, "Would the fact that the spike was red-hot cause it to go through the body more easily?" "No. It might even make it harder." She then looks at Brennan as she starts understanding what Venus was saying as she takes over, "Eva Benoit did not commit suicide." Harding then asks, "Based on what?" Venus answered, "This room isn't even 12 feet wide. Even if she ran at full speed and her aim was perfect, no way the spike would go through her spine, unless she was pushed onto it." Venus looks at Benoit closely finally recognizing who he is, "And you are the one who was doing all of these events. I finally remember why you look so familiar, you where there and you are the one who attacked Temp and stabbed me."

Sam turns around looking at him, "He is the sorcerer. He believes he can bring her back to life." Booth looks at both Venus and Sam, "Okay, everyone, just simmer down, okay? You're saying that he murdered his daughter, thinking he could bring her back to life and he was the one who attacked you and Bones?" Sam continued, "You find her dead, you stop looking for Mouton's murderer." Venus then adds, "You can check if we are right since an inch or two to the left or right, we would have known it was murder." Brennan continued, "It had to be hard pushing her onto the spike, especially if she were resisting. You'd have some wounds of your own." Everyone watches as Brennan rips Benoit shirt apart, "Venus is right, there is your killer."

Venus then adds, "I really want to go home now." Booth agreed, "Yeah, me, too-- all right, my advice, cuff Mr. Wizard here, before he puts a spell on you." Harding then asks, "What, no written confession?" "You want a confession? Threaten to release his daughter's soul, he'll tell you everything." As we turned around Harding then asks again, "Hold on a second, how come I wasn't informed that Dr. Venus was released." Venus chuckled a bit, "Oh, I heard I was going to be arrested when I woke up, so I snuck out without anyone knowing. You have very poor security by the way." "You know I can arrest you for fleeing form law enforcement." "You don't want to do that Detective Harding, plus it wasn't really that much of sneaking out when I greeted the officers that were supposed to keep an eye on me outside of the hospital." Harding scoffs as Booth, Brennan, and Venus turns back around about to leave as Benoit speaks, "Dr. Venus Brennan, Dr. Temperance Brennan. You leave here, you go home, it does not matter. There are powers, dark powers to which distance make no difference." Venus leans a bit onto Booth as he says, "Easy, buddy." Benoit then starts chanting as Booth tries to cut him off but doesn't work as he breaths out something and Brennan took a step forward and pokes his eyes stating, "I've noticed that very few people are scary once they've been poked in the eye." This caused Harding and Venus to chuckle a bit until Venus wound started hurting from laughing.

-Venus POV-

We are back at the Jeffersonian as I was sitting, still recovering as Temp gave me some medication to ease the pain as she tells the team the story, "We go in the middle of a battle between two religious sects. Benoit used Hurricane Katrina as a diversion to take the soul of a voodoo priest." I nod as Angie adds, "And he killed his own daughter." Hodgins adds, "Dark sorcerers suck, man." Booth then points out, "Oh, but you know, he intended to bring her back to life." Zack then speaks, "There's not really any such thing as spells and magic." Hodgin looks at Zack, "What are you talking about? They put a forgetting hex on Dr. Brennan and made Venus's unconscious for about three days."

I chuckle as Temp argues, "It wasn't the spell that made me forget; it was the drugs- rohypnol. And Venus had lost a lot of blood." Booth then adds, "Yeah, but blood test didn't find any." "Gamma-hydroxybutyrate?" "Not a trace." "Sodium pentathol?" "Nope." "Severe emotional trauma." I raise my hand, "I have that, but I remember every single part of that event clearly." Angie speaks, "Honey, even I think you're too strong-minded for that." "There were too many delays in doing my blood test-- that, plus the adrenaline of our escape, the drugs were out of my system." I add, "Uhh... Temp you were out cold, and I had to carry you out even when I was stabbed." She looks at me as Hodgins speaks, "They put the voodoo on you, baby... I didn't really mean to call you 'baby.'" You guys, stop. Now. I mean it."

Zack then asks, "You do believe in voodoo? Because even if a small part of you believes in it, then it has a grip." Brennan sighs, "I do not believe." Booth adds, "Just a little bit?" "No." "Good, because, you know, if you have any doubts, we'll just have Benoit send you back one of those little satanic mojo pouches from prison?" I chuckle, "I have a good luck charm that Sam gave me." Zack looks at me, "Who is Sam?" "A good friend from over there... Why?" He nods as Temp speaks, "Booth, objects have no intrinsic power. A person's future does not depend on something. Things are just things. They do not have magical meaning or powers." Booth then makes Temps earring that was our mothers appear from his hand as Temp looks at it. "Where did you get that?" "What does it matter? It's just a thing. Right?" I then speak, "Our mom's earing." "No, uh... magical power over your future." Booth leaves as I wave him a goodbye as Angela asks Temp who was looking at the earing still, "Does that prove something?" "Yeah. It proves something." I lay my head on Temps shoulder groaning a bit from the pain as I make myself comfortable as she leans her head on me as we both look at our mother's earing, smiling at it.
