Amelia's POV:
-3 years later-
2020. I hate it. I hate it.
I have two, 3-year-olds who have online preschool, a 17-year-old who keeps fucking blasting Clairo, Girl in red, and Billie Eilish, and a newborn baby who won't sleep.
All under one fucking roof. I am going insane.
Ana's trying to teach remotely which I know fucking sucks, and all 3 of my girls are trying to school remotely which I know fucking sucks.
And I? Well I'm just chillin'. Serial killers really don't wanna kill in a pandemic I guess.
"Mommy!" Natalie says, getting in my lap.
"Yes, my love," I say.
"I don't wanna do school anymore. It's not fun. We're on potty break."
"Oh I'm sorry pumpkin! I know, it's a lot better in person. But we can't. Because of the virus, remember?" She nods.
"Mhm." She lays her head on my chest.
"Nick I have had you in my class 3 years in a row. I think I know when you're high. And considering the fact you blew smoke into the camera before turning it off shows you're not typing the essay due!" Ana says.
The whole class bursts into laughter. I do too.
"She got you!!" A guy says.
"Mrs. Hotchner, really? Don't do me like that!" He says.
"I'm doing you like that." Nova runs into her lap.
"Oh, hi. Who is that? That looks like my class but older."
"Oh my god! Is that Nova? Hi, nova!" A girl says. I look at them.
"Hi. Who are you? You're pretty." She gasps.
"So are you! Oh my gosh! My name is Valerie."
"Hi, Val." She says.
"Oh my god, she's so cute. Mrs. Hotchner, respectfully, my ovaries are exploding right now," A girl says.
"I think that's bad. I think you should get that checked out!" Nova says. The class bursts into laughter again.
"Nova, what do you wanna be when you grow up?" A boy asks.
"A chef."
"You should be a comedian! You're so funny!" Another guy says.
"Mm.. maybe. Can I have waffles?" She says, looking up at Ana.
"Yeah! Ask momma. Where's your iPad at? Aren't you supposed to be in school?"
"I left." The class laughs, yet again.
"Me too!! Mood! This is the only class I show up for!!" Valerie says.
"I feel special," Ana says.
"Nov, come here," I say. She walks over to me. "You left school?"
"Yeah. She said that it's nap time. It's on the schedule."
"How do you speak so good?" I ask.
"Um, I don't know. Natalie. Natttttt," she says, shaking Natalie.
"I'm sleeping Nova go away!" Natalie says.
"Hey, can we think of a nicer way to say that? So we don't hurt Nova's feelings?" I ask.
"I'm trying to sleep Nova, could you no do that right now?" She says.
"Okay I sorry."
"It's okay. You can come sleep too! Mommy's chest is comfy."
"Your mom thinks that too," I mutter.
"Okay!" She climbs up on the couch and lays on my arm.
"I'm a mother, no drama," I say.
"I wouldn't have guessed," Scar says, coming down the stairs.
"Shush," I say. She picks up Dahlia, our newborn, who Ana carried this time, by a sperm donor.
"Hello, my baby girl. Hi!" She says.
"What class are you in?" She points her head towards Ana.
"I finished the essay. It was easy," she says, going to the kitchen.
"Of course, you fucking think so Scarlett! You're a fucking fag who doesn't do shit but read!" A guy yells.
"Talk to her like that again I swear to god I will rock your shit," Christina, aka her biggest crush, says.
"Oh try it," he says.
"I will beat your motherfucking ass," she says. Ana mutes both of them.
"Shut up. When I see you in school on Monday for that, Troy, I'm writing you up."
"Is it because I'm black?" He asks. She sighs and groans.
"Troy, I'm half black from my father, don't start."
"Okay! We're done! I will see you all in person on Wednesday!" She closes her laptop.
"Can I do what you guys do and skip?" She says.
"Yeah, but you'd probs lose your job," Scarlett says.
"Fuck the job! I mean I love what I do but it's so hard remote teaching!"
"Remote learning is the same. It's hard, I hate it so much."
"Alexa, play you should see me in a crown by Billie Eilish please," Nova says.
"Yeah, baby! I've raised an icon!"
"No! No! Play watch!" Natalie says.
"No! That's better!"
"No it isn't!" Nova pushes her.
"Nova, we don't push people. Can you help her up and say you're sorry? She could've gotten hurt!" I say.
"No!"
"Why not."
"Because she doesn't like my favorite song!"
"Okay, yes. But it's okay for people to have different opinions than you baby! But you can't push people." she sighs.
"Are you angry?" I ask.
"Yeah!"
"Why are you angry baby."
"Because! You're not listening to me!"
"I am listening to you, baby! I am. I get it, she doesn't like what you like! That's frustrating! But you can't hurt people because of that sweetheart!" She stares at me.
"Okay. What can I do to help you process your big emotions."
"Leave me alone," she says.
"Okay! You can go into your room then sweetheart! You can be by yourself, that's okay!" She goes upstairs.
"I hate Geminis," I mutter, picking up Natalie.
"Are you okay pumpkin?" She nods.
"You're not hurt? That was a hard push." She shakes her head.
"I'm mad at her."
"We'll make sure you get an apology love. But mommy's sorry she pushed you." I kiss her forehead.
"It's fine, she'll get over it."
"She will. It's Nova."
"Gentle parenting soothes my inner child," Scarlett says.
"Mine too," Ana says.
"I was raised on both gentle parenting and "sit the fuck down or you're gonna bust your eye and I'm not gonna take you to the Er." That was great." I say, chuckling at the memory.
"Did you bust your eye?" Scarlett asks, I nod.
"Mhm! She rushed over and cradled me while I was literally sobbing. And then took me to the ER."
"Momma Liv for the win!" Ana says. She kisses me.
"Guys, stop. Christina hasn't fucking made her move yet. Stop. You can't do that until she makes her move."
"Scar.. no," I say.
"But ninnaaaaa!! Mommm!!" Nova comes downstairs. She still looks pissed as hell.
"Hey button, you feelin' better now?" Ana asks her.
"No. But I'm hungry." I laugh.
"What's funny, Amelia." I raise an eyebrow.
"Excuse me? Nova Julieanne, don't call me by my first name," I say.
"I'm mad at you!" She shouts.
"Get that fucking Gemini away from me," I say.
"Emma!" Ana says.
"We don't call mommy by her first name. Okay?"
"Fine. But I'm still mad at her. She's an Aries, I hate Aries."
