𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐

 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅.

~ 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒚𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒔

I was setting up the table for dinner when I heard the front door. Leaving Mary alone in the kitchen, I hurry into the living room and see Felix, "Hi."

"Hey," His voice tired as he replied.

I took a minute to take in his presence. His coat draped over his right hand, his hair disheveled and, his tie hung loosely around his neck. His appearance was not uncommon. There were days when work pushed him over the edge. But, today was different. His posture was stiff, eyebrows furrowed in deep thought. He was troubled, and I could feel that it had nothing to do with work.

"Go freshen up. I'll be waiting for you at dinner."

Nodding his head at me, he leaves for his room. We had our dinner silently. It was weird because ever since we started having dinner together, we always conversed. I mean, yeah, we didn't have deep conversations. Still, we at least talked about how our day went.

Something is troubling him.

"I'm done. If you need me, I'll be in the study."

Felix's voice snaps me out of my thoughts as I look up to him, "Okay." As he strode out of the kitchen, I glance at his plate. It wasn't even half empty. He barely ate anything.

Should I ask him? No, what if he thinks I'm intruding in his private life? We recently started getting along.

You're his wife. You're supposed to know everything about his private life.

Frustrated with my inner conflict, I shut the book I was reading and banged it on the table loudly. I was not focusing on the story anyway. After eating dinner, I went to the library, hoping that reading would distract my mind from Felix. It didn't work.

I'll ask him once and, if he doesn't want to talk about it then, I'll let it go. With that thought in mind, I left for his study at the far end of the corridor. The study was empty when I entered. No sign of my husband anywhere. Where is he? Maybe.

Quickly making my way down to the basement, I punched in the code and entered. The walls were dark grey and, a flat screen hung on the wall, probably for gaming purposes. A couch and two bean bags were in front of the flat screen. As I walked in further, a bar was at the right corner of the room and in the centre was a huge pool table. This was Felix's man-cave or bachelor pad, whatever you want to call it. Let me tell you it, was fucking huge. Turning right, I entered another room. Weights, treadmills, and other pieces of equipment I don't recognize were present in the room. All four walls of the room were mirrored.

A boxing ring was in the centre of the room and, there he was, hitting the hell out of a punching bag. He didn't realize I was in the room, his back towards me as he kept punching.

Shirtless, I could see the way his muscles hardened every time he landed a punch. I haven't said anything yet, words refusing to escape my mouth as I continue to look at him. He looked angry, hot as sweat dribbled down his body. My eyes move to the mirror and, that's when he notices me. Our eyes make contact in the mirror and, he stops. The punching bag sways on its own and, Felix uses his hand to hold it in place.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, his breathing still irregular as his chest rises and falls heavily, gasping for air.

"Umm, I-I was looking for you." My voice comes out as throaty when I reply.

His eyes leave mine in the mirror as he turns around to face me. Good lord, my eyes follow a bead of sweat that trails down from his chest to his abs down to the V line, disappearing in his shorts that hung dangerously loose around his hips.

Snap out of it!

Forcing myself to look back up, I meet his eyes again when he gets out from the ring. Felix grabs a towel to wipe the sweat from his face. All the while, I keep staring at him. I'm sure I was drooling at the sight of his sweaty body. Throwing the towel on the bench when he finished, he advances toward me, stopping a few feet away.

"Did you want to talk about something?" He pants

Right, why was I here again? Oh, right!

"Oh, I just wanted to ask if everything is okay with you. You looked tensed at dinner."

I do a little happy dance in my mind for not stuttering.

He looked taken aback at my question but quickly regained composure when he replies, slightly out of breath, "Everything is okay. Why?"

"You don't spar on a punching bag at 12 in the night if everything was okay." I weakly smile at him and, my gaze flickers to his chest again, the muscles underneath moving along with his heavy breaths.

This is not the time! Calm your hormones, bitch!

I silently scream at myself.

"It's Thea. She has been difficult to handle lately." He says, getting rid of the gloves he was wearing.

I could sense from his tone that he doesn't want to talk about it. It's fine. He gave me space yesterday even after I cried my eyes out. Placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, I said, "I'm sure she'll come around."

As I removed my hand from his shoulder, Felix took hold of my wrist, putting it against his chest as he lightly pulled me towards him. His left hand going down to my waist to hold me in place.

"I missed you." He murmured. His voice was soft, barely above a whisper, and his eyes filled with need. Need for me. I could feel his heart racing underneath my hand, his breathing erratic. It felt good to know that I wasn't the only one affected by our proximity.

I knew he was indicating to the two days when we didn't talk. I did too. I wanted to say it but, the words felt clogged in my throat, unable to come out.

Slowly, he leaned down and brushed his nose against mine. I could sense the hesitation in his movements. He was testing the waters, seeing how far I would let him go.

"Felix," My mind was clouded with desire. A desire for him. "We shouldn't." My voice came out as a plea. Either of us moved an inch and, our lips would touch. I wanted to feel his lips on mine. The warmth of his body against mine, trace the contours of his naked torso with my hands. I couldn't because I knew this was wrong. He doesn't love me.

A groan escapes his kissable lips as he bends down and hides his face in the crook of my neck. Felix softly kisses my collarbone as I struggled to stifle the moan threatening to escape my lips. He continues to leave open-mouthed kisses on my neck, burning my skin in the wake of his scorching kisses when he sucked on a specific spot. My head tilts to the side, giving him more access as I softly moan in his ear. Any control I had evaporated, leaving me defenseless against his actions.

He lightly nudged his nose against my neck and softly bit my earlobe, "Leave," His voice strained as if it physically hurt him to say the word.

His hold on my waist slackened and, he backed off. I let out a needy whimper at the loss of his touch. When he noticed that I didn't move, a grunt left his mouth, "Leave, before I change my mind."

So, I did. I ran away from Felix. I stopped when I was in my room. My room was always a sanctuary for me because I could get away from him and hide. Today, though, it felt more like a cage because instead of hiding, I wanted to seek him out.
