Raven POV:
I was in my car driving to get even more liquor for my already drunk friends. Damn, the things I do for them. I got to the store rather quickly because of the lack of traffic and picked up some beer for my friends at home. As much as I loved them, I didn't get anything too strong just to make sure they didn't have the worst hangover ever.
On my way back, I pulled to a stop at a red light. I was sitting there impatiently for the light to turn as my finger anxiously tapped in the steering wheel.
After what seemed like forever, like damn, I never knew so many cars needed to turn left. Jeez. The light in front of my finally turned green and I put pressure on the gas as my car sped up through the intersection.
I was going straight through the middle of the intersection when I saw a bright light from my left but I was too late to realize it and do something.
It hit the side of my car, sending it spinning. All I could hear was loud metal crashing together and glass breaking. I could feel the pressure of the impact and feeling trapped under the metal, it was suffocating.
When it finally stopped I felt myself fade out of consciousness, letting the dark and empty blankness wash over me. I vaguely remember hearing sirens and muffled voices talking around me but it was just in flashed and waves.
I barely opened my eyes again and I saw someone pick me up. Well I felt my body leave the ground as it felt like it was hanging over something and my limbs fell beneath me. Then my fluttered eyes closed again into darkness. That was all I felt, all I could see. It was all too familiar for me and I was ready to let it consume me once again.
I opened my eyes again slightly that jolted me out of the dark again and I looked around, confused by my surroundings. The sudden sounds vaguely came back and I recognized them as sirens, I looked around again and I realized that I was in an ambulance. "Can you hear me miss? What is your name?" Someone that I had no idea who or where they were was saying to me.
I was being blinded by the light and the sound was rushing through my ears. I tried to speak and I could hear it in my head but I couldn't feel my mouth moving. I couldn't be speaking. I started to feel myself drowning into numbness once again when I was shook out of it again.
"Stay with me there. What is your name?" The voice said again and my eyes finally found the source. It was a kind looking women but serious, she was in a uniform and sitting next to me in the truck. She was an entire from what I could tell my the symbol on her uniform.
"Raven, Raven Reyes" I said mumbling, finally relieved I could make words. But the relief quickly vanished when I started coughing through my words at the dryness in my throat that felt like the words scraped through me as they came out.
"Ok miss Reyes, I need you to stay awake," she said and I tried, I really did. I tried to keep my eyes open but I just couldn't. "Stay with me miss Reyes" I heard as the sound faded out and my vision went black. Damn it, I would be mad at myself if I wasn't fading away.
Lexa POV:
"Wait Luna, explain exactly what happened" I said as I got up and walking in front of her. "A doctor- he Uh, answered my phone call to Raven and- and his, uh, told me she got into a car accident." She said, mumbling through everything and I could see her mind racing.
I wrapped her in a hug to know that I was here, that she could feel my presence before turning to look at everyone else. Octavia was crying into Lincoln's chest. Jasper, Monty, Harper and Maya all had tears about to break the surface.
I turned to Clarke and she seemed to be in shock as well. She was staring straight into nothing and I could see the tears building up in her eyes.
I went over to her and hugged her, same as Luna but she broke down in my arms. "It's ok," I said in her ear as I rubbed my hands in a circle on her back. "We need to go to the hospital," I suggested to her and she nodded her head. I knew she wasn't thinking straight and I looked around at all the drunk people in the room and figured they wouldn't either.
"I will drive," Lincoln said as he stood up. I gave him a questioning gaze. "I drank just under the legal limit, it will be fine," he said and I nodded. I would normally reject it but this was a different circumstance.
Everyone filed into his car. That was probably very illegal but we didn't care, we just had to get to her. We got to the hospital and were all sitting in the waiting room. "I need to see a patient named Raven Reyes," Clarke said as she ran up to the counter.
"Clarke? What are you doing here? What is going on?" A voice from down the hall said. "Mom," Clarke said before I could even turn to look, she ran into her mother's arms. Abby embraced her daughter but didn't know why she needed to. "Are you ok?" Abby said with lots of concern and she looked between Clarke and myself and then back to everyone else in the room.
"Raven, she got into a car accident," Clarke said choking on her words as I saw tears coming to her eyes. "Oh my god sweetie, I am so sorry" Abby said, hugging Clarke and wiping her own tears that fell as she was told.
"Doctor Abby Griffin" Abby said to the nurse at the counter and showed her badge. "I need to see a patient named Raven Reyes," she said firmly, trying to fight her emotion to look professional. "Room 112 Doctor Griffin" the nurse said, motioning to a door. Clarke, Luna, Octavia and I all ran through to her room as the others followed.
When we got there, she was lying unconscious on the bed, all bloody and bruised with tubes going through her throat and attached to her arm. Clarke and Octavia broke down at the sight of her and Luna looked at her in shock. I turned and hugged Luna and Clarke was holding tightly to Octavia as the small girl was breaking apart.
Abby walked in and said. "I have good news and bad news" we all looked at her with watery eyes. "The good news is that Raven will be fine." She said reassuringly but I could feel there was something else in the sound of her voice.
"And the bad news?" I asked her because nobody else was in the state to do so. She hesitated before saying, "a glass shard from the windshield punctured her spine and is blocking her brain signals to her left leg, she has zero function in it as of now but we have to operate to now the full extent." She said looking down. This caused all the girls to cry even more and I could see Abby looking ready eyes at the chart in front of her.
"They are doing the surgery soon to remove the glass" Abby said as she eyed me. I was the only one still functioning. I nodded my head and she walked out, leading all the girls back to the waiting room while everyone was waiting to hear the news.
I looked at the girls and they were too broken to explain and most likely to deviated to comprehend so I did it for them. "Raven will be fine" I said and everyone let out a breath of relief and I felt bad taking such a pause in between my words.
"But a piece of glass hit her spine and she needs surgery to remove it." I said and everyone looked to the floor again and I could see the sadness wash over them."She goes into surgery soon" I said and everyone nodded and all that was left in the room was the sniffling and tears.
Abby came back shortly after. "She is going into surgery now, I will come back with any updates." She said before leaving once again. "You guys should get some sleep, I will call you if anything happens," I said. Jasper and Monty hesitated but nodded in agreement as they carried their sleeping girlfriends to the car.
Lincoln wanted to take Octavia back but she refused persistently. He just nodded his head as he understood her need to stay and kissed her goodbye before he left as well.
I turned to Luna, I tried to convince her to go and get some proper rest because the surgery could take hours but she refused. I also knew that there was no way in hell that Clarke was leaving, I could see it in her eyes. I didn't go either, I may not have been as close with Raven as Clarke or Octavia but they needed somebody to stabilize them.
Time went by and I felt Clarke fall asleep on my shoulder and I turned and saw Octavia and Luna had fallen asleep in their own chairs. It looked really uncomfortable but I'm just glad they slept. I didn't sleep, I can't, especially not in a hospital, too many memories plaguing my mind.
I saw Abby walking up to us after many, many hours that I lost track of and I shook Clarke awake gently before nudging Luna and Octavia awake as well. "Is she okay? Please tell me she is ok?" Clarke asked and pleaded to her mother.
"She is fine, she pulled through but there are some issues," she said and I felt Clarke shrink next to me. "In the process of removing the shrapnel, it left Raven with extensive nerve damage in her leg. It wasn't much of a surprise but it is still there. We do have good hopes for her leg recovery though but it will be a long process through lots of hours of physical therapy. She is asleep now but you can go to her room and wait for her to wake up, we need you to clear the waiting room and I know you are all too stubborn to leave," Abby said with a small smile at the end and motioned is to the door Raven was recovering in.
We all got up and Clarke grabbed my hand as we walked to Raven's room. I squeezed it to make sure she knew I was here for her and she squeezed back.
We enter the room and Raven looks a little better then she did earlier. She was wiped clean of the blood, only cuts and bruises showing now. Octavia takes a seat by her side, gripping her hand and Clarke took a seat in one of the chairs in the room. Luna stoped at the door, staring at the figure on the bed. I turn to face her and she looked like a ghost. I pulled her outside the room to speak to her.
"Luna are you ok?" I asked her, kind of shaking her to get her to snap out of it. "You were right, I should have done something, I should have when I had the chance and now she is in the hospital and she could be paralyzed and I am barely holding on because I regret not doing anything. I could have lost her Lex," She said so quickly but dragging out the last part as I saw her break down at her own words.
"Ok Luna slow down" I said trying to understand what she said. She took a deep breath before repeating herself.
"I should have kissed her when I had the chance, I should have done something like you said and now I may never get the chance" she said while tears broke the surface of her eyes. "Hey, it's ok," I said, pulling her into a comforting hug. "You will get the chance to tell her" I said, rubbing her back to calm her staggered breathing. "And I know she would love to see you when she wakes up so you need to be strong for her ok?" I said and I could feel her nodding against my body.
"Ok" Luna said, wiping her tears before walking inside. I followed her in. Clarke looked up at me when I entered and motions me over to her. I sat down next to her and she grabbed my hand tightly, just like before and squeezed it. I didn't complain but I just smiled at the motion and then I felt her put her head on my shoulder. I use my other hand to run my fingers through her hair to comfort the blonde.
"She is going to be ok right?" She asked quietly, looking up at me, her large blue eyes only magnified by the tears. I almost didn't respond, to wrapped up in her eyes. "She will be ok as long as she wakes up around the people she loves." I finally said and she smiled at my answer and put her head back on my shoulder.
After a while, Raven was starting to wake up and Octavia, Luna and Clarke all rushed to her side. "Hey Raven, I thought we lost you for a second," Octavia said as she wiped her tears so she couldn't see. "You can't get rid of me that easy" Raven responded with a smirk which caused all the girls to smile and chuckle. Even me.
I stepped out of the room and called everyone, so the other girls could just be with Raven and I told them Raven is awake and they all said that they were on their way.
I walk back into the room to see Luna helping Raven sit up on the bed. "How you feeling Reyes?" I said walking over to her. "Like a million bucks Woods" she said laughing but then clutching her stomach in pain. I saw Luna stiffen but she didn't say anything.
"What exactly happened Raven?" Clarke asked timidly, not trying to push her to answer. "The last thing I remember is driving through an intersection and someone hit me from the side, the car spun and there was metal crashing around me and sirens blasting," she said, rubbing her temple with one of her hands as she tried to remember. Luna placed her hand on Raven's other hand that wasn't rubbing her head which made Raven smile at her comforting motion.
Abby walked into the room with Raven's chart in her hands. "How am I doing doc?" Raven said with a smirk as everyone turned to look at Abby.
"Well clearly the drugs are working" Abby said laughing before getting into her serious doctor mood. "What is it?" Raven asked, clearly picking up in her tone, looking at all of us before looking back at Abby.
"The glass that penetrated your spine caused nerve damage to your left leg Raven. You have minimal movement as of now. Although there is hope for a full recovery, it is not promised and it will take a while to happen with lots of effort and struggle." Abby said.
We all watched as Raven's face fell into despair. She put up a good fight with her emotions but she was too worn out from her surgery to be able to hide it from all of us.
Then all our other friends came through the door which made the smile return to her face. "I knew you wouldn't die on me," Jasper said when he walked up next to her bed. Lincoln quickly went to Octavia to comfort her and hug her and everyone else took turns at Raven's side.
