"Her rib has cracked, but there are no splinters. It hasnt punctured anything." Carlisle says, examining the X-Ray, "Yet." Edward scoffs, "Edward." I warn, raising my eyebrow. "Its breaking her bones now." He growls, I sigh heavily and glance at Bella, who looks like a very very pregnant skeleton. We were trying everything to get some sort of sustenance in her. "Its crushing you from the inside out. Carlisle, tell her what you told me. Tell her." He snarls in pain. Carlisle looks between Me, Edward and Bella, "Carlisle, tell me. Its alright." Bella says weakly, Carlisle sighs heavily, "The fetus is incompatible with your body. Its too strong, it wont allow you to get the nutrition you need. Its starving you by the hour, I cant stop it and I cant slow it down. At this rate your heart will give out before you can deliver." He tells her straight, "Then Ill hold on as long as I can and" Bella says, determination in her voice. "Bella, there are some conditions that even venom cant overcome. You understand? Im sorry." His eyes dart towards me but I keep my gaze on the wall just above my sisters head. I had my arms crossed, and my entire body was tense, "Edward, Im sorry." Bella mutters, "I cant live without you." He spits through his teeth, "You wont. Youre gonna have a part of me. Hell need you." She says, her voice cracking. "Do you honestly think that I could love it? Or even tolerate it, if it killed you?" Edward asks, his voice filled with surprise and pain. I could feel my eyes water at the exchange, "Its not his fault. You have to accept what is." Bella says, trying to placate him, "Because youve given me no choice! Bella, were supposed to be partners, remember? But you decided this on your own, youve decided to leave me." He exclaims, pacing the floor, "Dont see it that way!" Bella protests, her voice growing weaker by the second. "Well, I have no other way to see it. Cause its me wholl lose you, and I dont choose that. I dont choose that." He snaps then turns and leaves leaves the room. Tears drip down Bella's face and I squeeze her hand. She was cold to the touch and she had started shivering. "Jacob! We're in need of your human heater type thing that you are!" I call out, keeping my voice strong, although it cracks a little at the end. I step back and Carlisle's arms wrap around me. Jacob walks into the room with a grin, he scoops Bella up and carries her into the living room and deposits her on the sofa. He sits next to her and wraps an arm around her, Carlisle and I follow them into the living room and I push Carlisle onto the armchair and drape myself over him. "Dont do that." Jacob mutters as everyone else trickles into the living room. "What?" Bella asks, smiling at him
"Smile like Im your favorite person in the world." He scoffs, and she nuzzles against him, "Youre one of them. It feels complete when youre here, Jake." She mutters, I shoot off Carlisle's lap and grab the bucket, and hold it towards Bella as she looks like shes about to be sick again, "We need to find a way to get some food into her system." I mutter, something had been nagging at my mind but I couldn't quite grasp it. "If I could only see the fetus." Alice mutters, "The baby." Rose snaps, glaring at her "Maybe I could figure out what it wants." Alice says. My eyes widen and I look at her, that was it, I jump to my feet and head into the kitchen, I grab one of the blood bags and pour it into a paper cup and put a lid over the top, I stab a straw through the middle and carry it into the living room. I appear to have missed an entire conversation. "What were you thinking?" Carlisle asks Jacob. I hold up the cup "Blood." I say, Jake's eyes widen "Wait? Since when could you read minds?" He narrows his eyes at me and I laugh. "I can't. I just happened to grab that thought that just kept jumping out of reach. The baby is half vampire, so obviously it just wants-" Jake smirks "someone to sink its teeth into." He cuts in and my eyes widen. "Some O Negative we had lying around" I say. "He's thirsty" Bella says, "I know the feeling." Emmett mutters, "Wait! Wait! Wait! Youre gonna make her drink that?" Jake asks, backing away from Bella, his eyes wide. "Its the fastest way to test the theory." Carlisle says, I hold the cup out to Bella,
"Only if youre comfortable with it." Edward says, Bella nods her head, "Ill try anything." She says, "Just hold on." Edward says, lifting her into a more comfortable position. Jake turns away "I think Im gonna be sick." He mutters. Alice and Jasper leave and so does Emmett, Bella takes a long sip and and swallows, she smiles slightly "It tastesgood." She mutters, taking another drink, Edward smiles at her, "Mmm." Her eyes flutter closed for a moment and my grin widens as some colour fills her cheeks,
Carlisle takes her wrist in his hand, "Your pulse is already getting stronger." He says, with a smile, Esme breathes a sigh of relief "Its working." She says, a grin on her face. Carlisle moves away from Bella and I wrap my arms loosely around his waist. He shoots me a smile and I grin at him, "I'm glad." I murmur into his chest. He tightens his hold on me and I rest my head on his shoulder.

It had been a whole day since we had given Bella the blood and Carlisle's eyes were black. We were in the kitchen, allowing Bella and Edward to have a moment, She had just called Charlie and told him that she was going to a spa. Carlisle moves towards the staircase. "Jacob" I hear him says. I look down at the single blood bag left on the table "So thats the last of it?" Jake asks, staring at the blood bag. Carlisle sighs "Bella could deliver as early as tomorrow. If shes going to have any chance at all shell need more blood." He says, "And you need to feed. You have to be at your strongest for her. We need to go tonight." Esme says, looking at Carlisle with Worry. "Carlisle, youre the enemy now. Sam wont hesitate, you will be slaughtered." Jake warns, I inhale slowly, "Emmett will go with them." I mutter, wanting to go myself, but Bella needed someone here that knows what they're doing. "That wont be enough." Jacob says shaking his head. Carlisle wraps an arm around my waist. "We have no choice, Jacob. If theres anything we can do to save her, we have to try." He says, rubbing soothing circles on my hip.
"Youd risk your lives for her?" Jake asks, raising an eyebrow. "Of course we would! Bellas a part of our family now. We'd risk our lives for any Human in this house" She says, glancing towards me, I smile at her and reach out and squeeze her hand. She smiles at me "Yeah, I can see that. This really is a family. As strong as the one I was born into. I know what I have to do." He says, taking a step back. "Be careful Jake." I say, I knew what he was going to do. He nods at me before leaving the house. I press a kiss against Carlisle's lips as He, Esme and Emmett get ready to leave. I pull back, "Be safe." I say, and make my way into the living room. I sit down next to Bella and she leans into my side, with a smile. "Edward can hear him" She says rubbing her stomach, I smile and wrap an arm around her. Rose grins at me then a small frown covers her face. "Lara's awake" She says. I sigh and stand up. I make my way up the stairs and chuckle when I hear her start to cry. I push open the door to the Nursery Esme designed for her and see her standing up in her crib, holding onto the bars for balance. I pick her up and wrinkle my nose at the scent coming from her. I place her on her changing table and change her diaper and drop the dirty one into the small plastic trash can. I grab her blanket and wrap it around her and rock her from side to side in my arms, softly singing the Spanish lullaby that Abuela used to sing. She wraps her fingers around my hair and snuggles against me. I continue to rock her and sing until her eyes droop and her grip on my hair loosens. I wind up the mobile and switch the light off and closing the door. I open Nicky's door and see him fast asleep, I smile and approach him and press a soft kiss to his forehead before leaving the room and closing the door.
I enter the living room at the same time as Jake and he grins at me. "We're totally twinning today!" He says, shooting finger pistols at me. I scoff "Please. I was changing a dirty diaper. You were distracting the wolves. Did they get through ok?" I ask, chewing on my bottom lip. He nods his head and I smile relieved, He stares off into the distance, and Bella frowns "Hey, Are you ok?" She asks, Jake snaps his gaze to her, "Yeah, its not like Im the one carrying a demon." He says, a teasing grin on his face. The air in the room turns stale and Rose shifts uncomfortably then stands up, "This is pretty important, Bella. Why dont you tell Jacob what youve decided on?" She says, rolling her eyes, I grin and walk closer "Oh! Baby names!" I say, rubbing my hands together, Jake looks on in confusion "Rose is trying to talk Bella out of her baby names." Edward explains, Bella grins down at her stomach then motions for Edward to help her stand, "She hates them." She says, resting one hand on her stomach "Well then. Im on your side no matter what you pick." He says, Bella smiles at him "Theyre not that bad. If its a boy, E.J. Edward Jacob." She says, Jake looks stunned and I smile, Rose rolls her eyes and huffs "Okay, fine. That ones not awful. Why dont you tell them the girls name?" She says, Bella flushes slightly "I was playing around with our moms names, Renee and Esme. And I was thinking, Renesmee." She says, My eyes water and a grin grows on my face. "Renesmee." Jake mutters, "Too weird?" Bella asks with an awkward chuckle. Jacob opens his mouth to say something when Edward shoots him a look. "No, thats not too weird. Its beautiful and its unique. It certainly fits the situation. I like Renesmee." He says, smiling at his wife. "He likes it." She says, turning towards Rose. Rose smiles and hands Bella her cup of blood. Bella raises it to her lips, I notice movement in her stomach and move closer, Bella obviously felt it and the cup of blood slips from her hand. She tries to catch it when I hear a crack, Bella's eyes widen nd she lets out a scream of pure agony. Edward rushes forward, catching her in his arms before her head could hit the floor. I quickly run upstairs to Carlisle's office and have Edward lay her down on the bed. I take a deep breath to centre myself, and rid myself of the complete panic that felt like it was about to overcome me. I reach for the scalpel and see it already in Rose's hand.
