Chapter 23- 'To Somewhere Only He Knows'

My eyes found hers as she stared outside the window, confusion clearly displayed in those eyes. As her gaze approached me, I gave her an encouraging nod, causing her to open the car door.

We stepped outside and listened to the muffled crash of the water hitting the shore as the chilled breeze seeped into our clothes.

"When my dad died..." I broke the silence, and she looked over to me, giving me her full attention and encouraging me to continue on, so I did.

"I was broken, shattered, lost..." I stretched out my hand in her direction and this time without any hesitation, she took my hand and we walked towards the shore.

"No one was there to comfort me, mom was lost in her own grief, James was there, yes, but he still could not fill up that space and made me happy again. He tried, he tried so hard, but afterall, we both were young back then..." I left her hand and moved a little bit lower so that I could untie my shoes. Noticing me, she did the same and as soon as we were barefoot, I wiped my hands and took her hands in mine again before continuing.

"Then one day, I became so fed up with being all sad, being all lonely, being locked in that one room without coming out... I took my car keys and just left, not knowing where the next destination would be." I looked around the empty beach, ofcourse it would be empty, it was almost 3 or 4 in the morning; not that many people know about this place, it is almost five hour drive away from New York city. People would rather visit the nearby, yet crowded beaches, instead of taking a five hour drive to this heaven.

"And then I found this place." Our eyes captured the beauty of this beach, the blue water glittering under the shining of the moon, making it look like many uncountable glittery balls spread in front of us, creating an unforgettable moment.

"The peace here, the quiet here, was a therapy for me. It was like nature was healing me, like nature was my best friend at that time. So whenever I am feeling down, or just lost, or fed up, with the crowd, the responsibelities, or even you, or me, James, mom, or life in particular, I just come here, take a walk, while forgetting the whole chaos waiting for me back in New York." I looked over to her who stared at me with some feeling I could not quite place, "It will work the same for you. Come on. Let's try."

She nodded at me and with our hands entwined together, walked side past the shore as the water touched our feets and went back towards the ocean, there was a comfortable silence between us, no one of us trying to start up a conversation, lost in our own thoughts. But I decided to speak up once again.

"People are going to come and leave your life, they will do that, everytime, willingly or unwillingly... You can't break yourself everytime they do so." She sighed and nodded her head as I continued, James once told me, "We never lose our loved ones, never. They accompany us, they don't disappear from our lives. We are just like in different rooms." After that we both fell into a silence once again as we walked together.

Both of us did not care about the time as we walked and walked, and as I showed her some of the shells and some rocks where I used to hide small things back then. I was feeling better that she was finally forgetting about her grief and talking back to me, her small sarcastic comments were yet to come out, but we were making progress.

Not knowing what time it was, we decided to head back home because the horizon was starting to brighten up, indicating that the sun was about to rise. Standing up, we both shook our clothes so that the sand could be removed. Once that we both wore our shoes, we both started heading towards the car, before she finally spoke up, "Thank you." My eyes went in her direction, and it was when she finally flashed me my favourite smile, and the sunrise was behind her, creating the water shine like gold, the sky was filled with vibrant colours, and as she smiled at me, the infant sunrays highlighted her beauty, adding more of a taste to the already perfect view in front of me.

And at that point of time, she looked like a freaking goddess, who was standing near me, this emotion-less, rude, violent, heartless man, who did nothing in his entire lifetime to owe this pleasure.

We stared at each other and suddenly, I felt that our bodies started coming closer...

It was like we both were unknowingly attracted towards each other, fuck, I was attracted towards her. Her deep brown eyes, her soft cheeks, her plump lips, her perfectly created face, her body, her heart, her soul...

And that moment, I realised I was going to fuck up real big.
