Raiden wakes up to his whole body aching. Forcing his eyes open, he sees you asleep near him. An ice pack is on the side of his ribs, his breathing labored and shallow.
He looks up at the ceiling, thinking back on what happened.

"Brother....!" Fujin had cried out between choked sobs. He had grabbed for the Amulet and yanked it free. The darkness that surrounded Raiden's heart was ripped away.
Fujin had shoved him away, tears flowing.
"Little brother!" Raiden remembers yelling out.
The God of Wind was already clearly struggling with the corruption, eyes changing from blue, to purple, then red. He gripped the Amulet tightly. "Let the corruption take me instead...." he had gasped, clutching the Amulet to his chest.
Next thing Raiden knows, he's suddenly getting beaten up by his brother. He feels one of his ribs crack from a hard punch.

He tried to dodge Fujin's attack, but he was too fast. He didn't want to hurt Fujin, but the younger demigod kneed him hard in the abdomen, bruising his intestines. Raiden gasped in pain, crumpling to the floor while Fujin hovered over him. He looked up at his brother, tears falling down. Fujin glared at him, eyes blazing red.
With one last punch to the face, Raiden was knocked out.
Then he woke up in this room.
He swore he felt someone carry him around before he fully regained consciousness.

Raiden sits up, wincing in pain. You are still asleep. Raiden looks over at you sadly. How could he explain this to you?

Slowly, he removes the blanket covering him, assessing the damage done. The icepack is held to his ribs with gauze, bruising is on his arms from blocking Fujin's attacks, but his torso got the worst damage. His stomach is heavily bruised from getting kneed in the gut, the bruise a gross shade of purple and green.

Still exhausted, he falls back asleep, grateful that he can't feel much pain while he nods off.
He wakes up to someone curled up against his not broken side. Glancing over, he sees you looking all worried.
"(Y/n)...." he whispers. You look up and smile. Looks like you had been crying earlier.
"Uncle," you whisper back. Gods, you look similar to Fujin in almost every way except for the brown eyes.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. I now realize what a fool I have been," Raiden apologizes, feeling terrible.
"It's okay, Uncle," you smile. Fujin taught you how to forgive rather easily, so you're not one to hold a grudge.
But since you are so young, you don't realize the gravity of the situation.

"What happened with Papa?" You ask.
He doesn't answer, simply holding you as best he can.
"Things will be okay," Raiden lies, kissing you on the forehead for the first time ever.
