I wish I hadn't
Romanticized college
There is some good
And some fun
And some freedom
To college
I must admit
But I wish
So bitterly
That I had not romanticized
College
Because though
Students do have freedom
From parental authority
What they don't tell you
Is you won't have
Freedom of free time
Your hobbies will become sleeping
You don't have time
For the things you love
And you'll forget
That anything exists
Outside of
Class
Homework
friends
And tired eyes
You will stop seeking joy
Purpose
And entertainment
And you will start
To long
Only for rest
So my advice
To the friends
I left behind
In highschool
Please don't romanticize college
It's nice
But once you start
To hope
And to dream
About what college will hold for you
You lose.
Do not dream of college
It is not what you expect
It is good
But it's nothing worth romanticizing
