I wanted a scrapbook story
I wanted it badly
And more than I knewI wanted the kitchen
The yard
And the kidsI wanted the "met in high school
Fell in love
And married right after college"I wanted to show our kids
Your senior photos
And be behind the camera
Right there with youI wanted the never alone
Growing old together
Hopelessly in loved
And serving together
Kind of loveI wanted to meet in college
In our first class
And spend every day together after that
Two best friends
Falling into love
Like my parents did...
One day
Soon after graduation
Walking down the aisle
With our friends on your left and rightI wanted that college love
Where we started the rest of our lives together
I wanted the type of love
Where we got to show
Our future kids
"Hey this was mom and dad in college"
I wanted to do clubs together
And school dances
And parties
I wanted the library to be our place
And the campus
To be filled with memories of young loveI wanted that love
The type
Where you grew up together
Met as kids
Played tag in the church lot
And climbed up water towers on the weekend
I wanted to dance
To country songs
And kiss on kiss front porchI wanted the kind of love
You grow up with
You grow into
And you grow old togetherI wanted a love that started
In youth
And ended in "death us part"(08/30/22)
