I opened my Pinterest today
I did not expect
To be greeted by wedding bands
And engagement rings
How did we go
From cuddling on the couch
And picking out rings
To this?
It seems like yesterday
We were getting to know each other
In the library
And yet
Over a year has passed
And we'll never know each other again
It seems like last week
I was making you
A Pinterest board of rings
And you were nervous
To travel
Because you needed to save your money
For us
It seems like a lifetime ago
And yet
Just yesterday
That we were planning our future home
Talking about kids and education
Where we might live
What type of house we wanted
Worrying about where we would go to church
And now we're here
How did we go
From vacationing in Colorado
With your family
To being the reason
You won't go
On our study abroad
I never got to say goodbye
To your mother
Or your little brother
I miss them
I'm glad you've moved houses
You'll never have to
Have memories of me visiting
Your home
After date nights
In this new house of yours
It's a shame I'll never see it
Or your apartment
It's a shame
We had to say goodbye so soon
It seems like just yesterday
I was ready to love you
The rest of my life
And now
The only chance
We'll walk down that asile together
Is as a bridesmaid
And a groomsman
For a friend's wedding
