The flight back home happened without an issue. No shenanigans in the bathrooms, no crash on a mysterious deserted island, no snakes taking over the plane...
Our trip to Seoul had been very intense, but also way too short. I was feeling slightly melancholic at the thought it was over as soon as it had started. I couldn't tell for sure if Lex was as bummed out as I was, but I was certain he would have gladly accepted a few more days of this. The only thing that was making me feel better was the date we would have on Saturday. That was definitely worth going home for.
I was so impatient for our evening out that I felt ridiculous. We were already so far into our relationship, so deeply involved in it, that a first date sounded unnecessary. We were too advanced for that milestone, but I was still eager to get on with it.
I wanted to go out with Lex for so many reasons. First, I wanted to see where he would take me, what he had planned for us, how he would make it unique. I also wanted to be outside with him in Seattle, to stop hiding all the time and embrace what we had. It had been easy in Seoul, thousands of miles away from home, and I hoped we'd be just as comfortable doing it in our city.
I was busy with all those thoughts most of the flight, also mentally listing all the things I would have to do to be ready for Saturday. Lex had a lot of things to prepare for his return to Seattle, and it kept him busy as well.
The time changes were even more mind-fucking in that way, and we landed five hours earlier than our departure time, despite the eleven-hour flight. My refusal to accept this as anything other than sorcery amused Lex a lot, and he eventually gave up on trying to explain it to me.
He dropped me off at my place, and after a very long, very steamy goodbye embrace, he helped me with my suitcase. After stealing one last hungry kiss, watched me enter my building. My dreamy smile didn't leave my face all the way to the apartment, where I found Tammy on her way out to work.
"Hey, Dee! I'm so glad I caught you before I left! How was it?," she signed before giving me a tight hug.
Pulling back, I gave her a broad smile, not hiding how amazing the trip had been. "It was crazy. I still can't believe I got to see their inside working like that."
"That's amazing! How did it go with our boss?"
I didn't answer right away, hesitating. I wasn't sure what to answer, given the slightly unconventional situation Lex and I were in. We had had a lot of fun, had spent some amazing time together, and had been having some steamy, intense moments in bed, despite sticking to what would be considered foreplay.
"It was... great," I finally signed.
"I'll venture it was more than great, given how you're blushing all of a sudden. You'll have to tell me everything when I come back this evening. I really have to go. I'm running late."
"Sure, have a nice day at work, honey," I joked. She giggled and left me alone in our entryway after one last hand wave.
Now that I was alone in my apartment, the fact that it was really over struck me. I was back home, and those last few days had flown by in a blink. With a sigh, I rolled my suitcase all the way to my room to empty it.
