‘No wait,’ I said as Luke went inside the little supermarket thing at the gas station.
Luke stopped walking and turned around.
‘Wait for what?’ he asked.
I took my own wallet from the bag that was placed at my feet and closed the door of the car.
‘What are you doing?’ he asked as I walked up to him and smiled innocently.
If only there would be a way to not get my period.
Well there is…I just didn’t feel like pooping out a child yet.
‘I need some stuff’ I shrugged.
‘Well I could’ve just taken it with me for you’
I smiled and shook my head.
‘No, that’s okay. I’ll pick this up myself. Trust me, you’d rather have me do this’
Luke furrowed his eyebrows while opening the door.
‘What do you need then?’ he asked.
I walked inside the store and looked around, ignoring Luke’s question.
He’d find out soon enough anyway.
This was the first time I’ve stepped inside something that looked like a supermarket, only smaller since it’s on the side of the road.
Luke grabbed my hand, pulling me through the building as if he knew exactly where to go.
We stopped walking a few seconds later and I looked at the shelves of chocolate right in front of me.
I looked up at Luke to see him already looking at me, a big grin plastered on his face.
‘Which one would you like?’ he asked.
The next 10 minutes were spent in front of the chocolate as we tried to figure out which chocolate bar to take with us.
We eventually picked out 3, because we really couldn’t pick.
‘Okay, what else did you need?’ Luke asked.
I walked back to the front of the store where I saw the tampons that I needed.
Luke followed closely behind me with the chocolate and his phone in his hands.
I looked at the different brands and sizes of the tampons, thanking my parents for always making me help put away the groceries.
I found the one my mom always bought, grabbed one pack and turned around, almost bumping into Luke.
Luke just looked down at me, a massive grin on his face.
He opened his mouth to say something but I interrupted him, not really in the mood to hear what he was going to say.
‘We need one more thing’ I said.
‘And what’s that?’
‘Banana’s. Do they sell banana’s here?’
‘Why do you need banana’s?’ Luke laughed.
‘Because I like banana’s, why do you wear sunglasses inside?’ I asked, I never really thought of asking him that but for some reason the question just popped up in my head.
Luke didn’t answer he just stared at me for a few seconds before clearing his throat and changing the subject.
‘The bananas are over there’ he mumbled as he started walking.
He grabbed some bananas and then looked at me.
‘Was that all you needed?’ he asked.
I looked around to see if maybe I forgot about something, even though I knew I didn’t and nodded.
Luke grabbed the tampons out of my hands and paid for everything.
As we walked back to the car, Luke put his arms around my shoulders and pulled me closer, pressing a kiss on my cheek.
I looked at him in surprise, expecting him to have the same expression since that always happened when he did things like that. But he just unlocked the car with a small smile on his face, seeming really satisfied with himself.
‘where are we going again?’ I asked, trying to pretend that never happened.
Luke grinned and looked down at me.
‘It’s called Rotorua, and don’t ask me what we’re going to do there because I have no idea’
