Chapter 22 : Mission Hide Maya

ROYS POV

Once she was out from my sight I rushed upstairs and opened my room. I saw Maya sitting in the bed and weeping silently. My heart always felt heavy seeing her in tears. She felt my presence and got up from the bed. Wiping her tears

"Roy..who was that?"

God... what do I say?

"Ah. Owner. Owner of the apartment. He know that I'm a bachelor. If they see you here. They might just misunderstand" I made a lame excuse.

Damnit. I lied again.

She nodded and lowered her head to the ground. I realised that she's crying again

"Maya.. it's okay calm down. I don't want you to cry again"I said

"Roy..you didn't answer...me..if you have... another girl in your...life"she stammered and she felt my heart going heavy. I cleared my throat

"What if it's a Yes?"I asked with a tint if hope. I saw her shaking hands and quivering lips. She looked pale and I felt she will fall unconscious the very next moment.

I rushed towards her and held her shoulders

"Roy? I can't live without. I had been in hell. Don't leave me"she clutched her chest and sobbed.

God. Why are you testing me again and again.

"I won't Maya"I said blankly or it just slipped from my mouth. She looked at me. Her eyes shined with hope

"I love you Roy"she said and hugged me again. My entire body felt paralysed. I slowly hugged her back. Wondering what I'm I going to do next.

I don't know how will she react to if I say about Saanvi. Her condition will worsen and I don't want it to happen. The only person who can bring me out this will be SAANVI.

I broke the hug abruptly and wiped my face with my cold palms

"Maya.. it's not good stay here right now. Go back to Hyderabad. I'll meet you this coming weekend and we can.."

"I'm not going back Roy"she cut me off in between and gave me a heart attack

"Wha.. What..? What do you mean by that?"I asked tensing

"I have Job interview here in Chennai. This coming Monday. I will stay right back here with you. Please don't ask me to go back"she said making me sigh. It's still 6 days away.

"But Maya... I told you... you can't stay here...with me"

"I won't trouble you Roy. I can stay in a hotel if you want. Atleast I can meet you daily"she said

"No.. You can't stay in a hotel. It's not safe"I said thinking what to do

"Then?"

"Just a minute"I stepped aside and called my colleague Arun. Few minutes later I came back to Maya

"My friend owns a small apartment here. You can stay there. It's just 10 minutes away  from here. You'll be comfortable there."I said. She smiled in response and nodded her head.

Suddenly I think about Saanvi. She'll be waiting for me there.

"Maya I think you should take rest for a while. I have some work. I will come soon"I said and she nodded happily. Seeing her smile made me feel lighter about myself

"Take rest"I said and walked outside the room. I took heavy steps outside. My heart wrenched in pain.

How much I wished this to happen and when finally Maya is here I feel myself going numb.
