"Riya, what's the name of the company again?" I asked in a hushed voice. Nakikinig lang kami kung ano yung nangyari dun sa construction site kung ano ang nangyari doon.

"Suarez Constructions po." Pasimple niyang sagot saakin.

Lawyer na ako at lahat pero ang bobo ko parin. Hindi ko manlang nakuhang itanong kung ano yung pangalan nung company na kumuha saakin. Also kahit naman malaman ko kung ano yung pangalan ng company ay hindi ako pwedeng tumanggi.

Since I am only a junior associate of the law firm, there are limited things I can do. I can only gather the information, by interviewing the key individuals before the proceedings in court, and I can assist the senior associate in informing the arguments.

Natapos nalang yung discussions ng hindi lumalabas yung isang tanong na gusto kong malaman ang sagot.

"Last question. How the hell did the bystanders even enter the site?" Frustrated kong tanong sakanila. Mukhang they didn't really expect me to question that because they are all looking shocked. 

"Is there even securities around the vicinity?" Dagdag kong tanong. I am looking at their eyes one by one but they are all looking away. Well, except for him and he is looking at me straight in the eye.

"Miss Uy, there is no need to be that way." Pasimple niya akong sinita for the way I talked.

Naglalabanan kami ng eye contact at walang nagpapatalo saaming dalawa.

"Well, Engineer Suarez will you answer my question please?" I am staring at him na parang walang ibang tao dito sa room kung hindi kaming dalawa lang.

"Miss Uy we still didn't know what happened to the site and the reason why the bystanders got in." Sagot naman saakin nung isang engineer.

"This is the only thing I can tell you, compensate them better. They will obviously file a case against your company and that is where you are going to come in. Talk to the victims. People are more willing to settle things when they know their opposing councils are fully prepared for it. If you do that, then there will be no problem for them to withdraw the lawsuit."

Tumayo nalang ako at nag-paalam since I know my job there is done.

"Gentlemen, please excuse me."

Lumabas na ako since I am almost running late to my another appointment. Hindi ko na nilingon pa kung nakasunod pa si Riya saakin basta ang alam ko lang ay dapat makaalis na ako dun.

While we are waiting for the elevator to descend in the floor ay tinanong ko na si Riya kung ano yung kanina pa bumabagabag saakin.

"Why did they sent me here?" Diretso kong tanong sakanya. Hindi na rin ako tumingin sakanya para hindi niya makita yung mata ko.

"Po.?" May halong gulat ang saad niya. Napansin ko ring napatingin siya saakin.

"Kako, bakit ako ang pinadala? While we all know I am practicing Criminal Lawyer." Sobrang frustrated na ako pa kasi ang pinadala dito na isang naman civil dispute. Suing someone or being sued to is considered as a civil case and they need to consult with a civil lawyer and a corporate lawyer.

"Miss nandito na po." Sabay na kaming sumakay ng elevator because I need to go immediately to firm because of next appointment. "Miss, wala po sila nasabi kung bakit kayo yung napili. Ayaw niyo po nun, bagong experience para sainyo."

Mabilis lang ang naging byahe namin pabalik sa firm because there's no cars in the road. Kailangan ko ring i-report sa head ko kung ano ang nangyari sa meeting with the company. Buti na nga lang at wala kaming ibang kasama kung hindi ay mapapahamak talaga ako because of my mouth. Sobrang against sa code of conduct namin yung ginawa ko pero sobrang nakakainis naman kasi yung ginawa nila.
