Chapter 12

The archery range is packed with people, mukhang hindi pa ata kami makaka-archery because of the people. Pumunta nalang kami doon sa range and we saw na meron pala open competition. So anyone can join the competition from amateurs to professionals. We checked if there are still slots to join and there are two slots pa.

"Corrine, diba gusto mong mag-archery ngayon?" Binigay na namin sakanya yung isang slot. 'Cause she is the sole reason why we are here.

"Chi. Show them what you got." Ibig sabihin kaming dalawa ni Corrine ang sasali. Tatanggi pa dapat ako pero alam ko naman na ayaw rin ni Gavin and Connor to play.

Kumuha nalang kami ng bows and arm guards. May 4 pa kaming kalaban and they all look okay. Judging by the way they handle the bow, they have experience.

"Chi, are you going to your usual?" Tanong saakin ni Corrine. I have a routine whenever I play archery pero this is an informal competition. Hindi ako sure kung siseryosohin ko ito o hindi.

"I don't know."

Nag-start nalang kami, ang instruction saamin ay by twos kaming mag-shoshoot. Since katabi ko si Corrine ay hindi ako ang kasabay niya. Nalaman ko ang kasabay ko ay isang lalaki, siguro he is by our age.

Nung ako na ay seryoso kong tiningnan yung target. I eyeing for the middle pero kung saan papalarin. When I heard the signal to let start I waited for about 5 seconds before I release the arrow and I knew it. 10. I heard a laugh at the other side and obviously Gavin is laughing. When I checked the guy, I saw the score and it is 8. Not bad though.

Since Corrine also practice with me sometimes alam ko na marunong din siya. Siguro malapit na yung skills niya sa skills ko. 1st shot. 9. Great.

Nagpatuloy lang yung competition and safe to say both Corrine and I are leading the lead board. For the 6th shot ay tinanggal na yung other 3 na mas mababa yung score. Ang natira nalang ay ako, si Corrine and the guy.

Medyo magaling din yung guy kasi naabutan niya ako pero syempre hindi ako magpapatalo.

Nung shot na ni Corrine. Medyo nag-shake yung arm niya. Kung minamalas ka nga naman. 6. Okay narin since it is the 8th round. Yung guy naman ay kanina pa tingin ng tingin kay Corrine. Nung nagtama yung mga mata namin ay tinitgan ko siya ng masama.

Alam na namin parehas ni Corrine na 3rd place na yung nakuha niya kasi She made a crucial mistake for her 8th arrow. By the 10th round, I feel my arm giving up because of the weight of the bow. By the time of I released the last arrow I know it will be a failure. 7. I lost. Pero okay lang naman. Hinintay nalang naming matapos yung mismong competition before going out. Hindi na namin hinintay yung awarding.

"Bakit hindi na natin hinintay yung awarding. Sayang di yun." Tanong ni Gavin. Alam ko naman tatanungin niya iyan. Si Gavin pa ba?

"Okay lang. Also we are not there for the prize. Itago nalang ulit iyon." Sagot ko naman. Naglalakad-lakad kami sa mall pero we don't an exact destination.

"Chione, I have a question? Paano ka natutong mag-archery?" Tanong saakin ni Connor.

"Well... simula palang bata ako ay I am trained to handle different kinds of combat weapon. Just like how Gavin was trained to use guns. Hindi ko rin alam kung bakit my parents insisted for my siblings and I to train. Pero bata pala ako ang laruan ko na ay mga toy weapons. Hanggang sa they trained me for long distance shooting. Una kong natutunan ang sniper hanggang sa natuto nalang ako ng archery. I fell inlove with the idea of it kaya I pursue it." Mahabang kong sagot. Hindi ko rin alam kung bakit ko sinabi sakanya kung bakit I know how to use the items.

"Ano kasi Connor. Both our parents know each other for a long time. They thought na pag-aralin kami ni Chi ng different kinds of combats. Hindi ko rin alam kung bakit kami pinag-aaral. Basta I remember ang sinabi ni Papa ay marami daw siyang kaaway kaya kailangan ko siyang matutunan. Technically, all of us in our circle of friends ay marunong sa mga combat fights. Because we are trained to do so." Paliwanag pa ni Gavin.
