Chapter 36

"Don't you find it odd that your 17 year old daughter is being very friendly with a 22 year old" Cristina asked me

"Very much, I don't know why derek is okay with this. I understand he's known him and his family for a very long time but I don't like that my baby girl is with him" I told her eating my salad

It's been three weeks, all of my children are in school again and my eldest daughter thinks it's okay to be with an older man, I like Brian and his family but seeing my little girl grow up is hard

Sarah- I need a ride home from school

Me- ask your dad or Brian

Sarah- Brian's at school and dad isn't answering, this wouldn't happen if you and dad weren't so paranoid I'd have my license and a car

Me- I will talk to him about it later, I can't pick you up. You're gonna have to take the bus sorry love xx

"Everything alright?" Derek came over and sat next to me

"Can you pick Sarah up from school?" I asked him

"I already told her no, I have a surgery in 30 minutes" he told me

"She told me that this wouldn't be a problem if we let her get her license and a car" I laughed, he smiled

"You still haven't let her get her license? Crazy parents you too are" Cristina said

"No derek is just very over protective" i told her

"I'm not very over protective, I'm scared that her c word is going to come back and have a seizure" derek sipped his drink

"And by c word you mean?" Cristina questioned

"Cancer" I whispered, Cristina nodded

My pager went off "patient I have to go" I kissed Derek's cheek and ran off to care for my patient, once I got there I saw familiar face on the bed "what do we got" I asked my intern

"Jane doe, passed out in her school parking bus lot didn't have an ID with her" she told me

I looked at her face and my heart dropped "page Dr.Shepherd and Dr.Nelson also Dr.Bailey" I yelled at her "and this isnt a Jane doe its my daughter" I then said, the interns face widen

I walked out of the trauma room bumping into my husband "you paged?" He asked, I looked up at him tears threatening to fall "it's Sarah" I told him, he pushed passed me into the trauma  I followed him in

"You two cannot be in here" bailey said

"She's our daughter, and when Callie was in here Richard let mark in so we both have a right to be in here bailey" derek yelled

"Who died and you became king? This is my hospital now, you both are going to wait until she is in a room and stable. Do you understand me" bailey went all chiefly on us, I looked at Sarah one last time

"Der, she's in good hands" I put my hand on his shoulder he looked at me and took my hand we walked out of the room

We went into Derek's office while they checked on Sarah "do you think it's back?" He asked

"It shouldn't be, and we shouldn't be thinking like that derek" I told him

Bailey walked through the door "tell us" derek said

"Well good news, no tumor or anything like her cancer" she said

"But there is always a but bailey" I said

"But the reason she passed out was for exhaustion and dehydration" she told us

"She stayed up all night studying for a test and I guess she didn't drink anything during school, she normally takes a water bottle to school" derek confessed

"She is fine, she actually woke up asking for you guys" bailey then said, we walked out the door bailey following us close behind as we made it to the pediatric wing holding hands as we walk into her room she's on her phone probably texting Brian

"Hey baby girl" derek said walking to the right side of her bed

"Hi dad" she responded putting her phone down

"You gave us quite a scare Sarah, never stay up like you did again" I told her

"I know and it's my fault I didn't drink anything, I swear I had my water bottle with me. I'm sorry" she told us

"I want to talk to you about Brian" I asked her

"What about Brian? He's a good guy" she told me

"Does his parents know about you guys and how you keep hanging out?" I asked her seriously

"I don't know, mom I mean it doesn't matter it's his life so he can do anything he wants it's not like we are together" she told me truthfully, I always know when she lying and telling the truth

"I'm glad you are telling me the truth, do you know who found you?" I then asked her

"I think it was Mariah, I'm not sure" she told us

"That would explain I saw her sitting outside your room before we came in" derek told her

I walked over to the door and opened it to see Mariah "hey Mrs.Grey" she said

"Hey Mariah, she's in here you can see her" I told her, she got up and went into the room to be with her friend I looked at derek

"I think we should leave them along for a little girl talk" I laughed, he kissed Sarah on the head and walked away with me
