Chapter 28

Days go by slow when you are just sitting in a hospital bed in the pediatric wing of a hospital but today went by super fast, it's currently 6pm and I'm reading a book on neurosurgery, why a nine year old reading this book my dad thought it was a good read to get me to know my brain but I can barely understand what any of this means but some people don't know is that I actually granted my aunts gift of a photographic memory "is it a good book?" Dr. Nelson came in

"If I could understand it" I laughed

"Now both of your parents are in surgery and with this horrid storm you will experience flashes and lights flickering. The main reason why I'm telling you this with your surgeries and where your tumor was plus your Mets, i want to prepare you that you might go into a seizure. It's going to very scary for you and I want you to be prepared okay" he told me, I nodded

"I'm going to ask you to move to your side away from the windows you so you can't see them, and I'm gonna give you black out glasses so you can't see anything" he then said handing me glasses

"Why can't I just wear the glasses? And if I do have a seizure why can't the nurses or you help?" I asked closing the book

"The storm is all hands on deck with everyone coming into the hospital to seek shelter and medical help, your parents actually suggested this and since you aren't eighteen yet you don't have a say" he closed the window shades

"If you need anything page me or a nurse" he walked out looking at his pager

I sighed and turned my side opening my book back up and reading away.

A few hours later Cristina came into my room "Sarah hey" she smiled weirdly

"Why are you smiling what happened" I asked lifting my glasses

"You are a big sister" she said

"mama had the baby" I smiled

"Can I meet the baby" I then asked

"she's in the maternity wing, and since the lighting has surpassed you can go" she told me, I took my glasses off  my eyes are going insane it's like I haven't seen light in years I sat up and Cristina helped me in the wheelchair and helped with my IV bag wheeled me out of my room

As I was approaching my moms room I saw mom, dad, Zola and baby "look who I found" Cristina said

"Sarah meet your baby brother derek bailey shepherd" my mom said

"Baby brother? Can I hold him" I asked politely with my puppy dog eyes that they love so much

"Yes but you need to be very very careful okay" my dad said, he sat Zola on the couch and took bailey from moms arms I held out my arms like I saw how my mom was and dad put him in my arms gently

"Hold his head up, like that" he guided me

I smiled at my baby brother and I heard a click I looked up at my mom she was holding her phone smiling "I love you bailey and I'm never letting you go" I whispered to him kissing his head lightly
