Chapter 33

It's been 4 months since I've seen or talked to Brian, I mean he sent me texts for about 2 weeks straight I never answered them I also haven't talked to my dad or literally anyone since then "Sarah, honey" my mom knocked on my door

"I'm coming in" she said opening the door, she looked at me and walked over to me then sat by me putting her arm around me

"are you okay? you can talk to me you know" she said, I leaned my head on her shoulder she kissed my head

Out of nowhere I started crying I don't know if it was all of the emotions I've build up in these past four months, she was shushing me comforting me whispering calming things like 'it's going to be okay' 'I'm here' 'dont worry'

"Where's dad?" I finally muttered out

"He's in living room" she told me

I got out of her embrace and walked out of my room seeing dad on the couch on his computer writing an email, I sat down next to him hugging his neck "I'm sorry" I sobbed into it, he moved his laptop from his lap and wrapped his arms around me pulling me into his lap

"It's okay baby girl, I'm sorry as well" he said, I let go and hugged him again then got back up "I do love you dad, I know it's been really a tough time I'm sorry" I sat down he put his hand on my back rubbed it comfortably

"It's okay, I'm sorry as well. I knew I messed up I shouldn't have, I love you as well" he told me

"Is everything fine now?" My mom asked

"Everything is perfect" I smiled, I got my phone out of my back pocket and texted the one person that I've been wanting to talk to for the past months

Me- it's been awhile but things with my dad got better, I'm sorry I didn't text you back I didn't text anybody or even talk I was very disconnected with the world. Can you meet me at the gold lantern In an hour?

I texted Brian, I got up and went into my room to get ready I put on a blue top and some dark jeans with vans. I got ready with 20 minutes to spare "hey dad can you drive me somewhere" I asked him

"Yeah where are you going?" He asked back

"I asked Brian to meet me at the gold lantern, I just want to make things right" I told him

"Yeah, um let me get my keys" he said going over to the key bowl, he picked his keys up and we both headed off once we got there I didn't see his car "if I don't come out in 30 minutes we can have a daddy daughter dinner" I told him, he smiled then nodded

I got out of the car and headed into the restaurant, my sweaty hands opened the door "hi welcome to the gold lantern how many?" The hostess asked

"Two, someone is meeting me here" I told her, she nodded and brought me to a table "anything to drink while you wait?" She asked

"Can I have a water please?" I asked

She nodded and wrote it down then walked away I checked my phone no text from Brian

Dad- is everything okay?

Me- yeah, just nervous

Dad- you'll be fine just stay calm

I closed my phone back up when she brought back my water "you still waiting?" She asked

"Yeah" I told her

"I'll come back in 10 minutes okay" she that when I got a buzz on my phone it was a text from Brian

Brian- I don't know who this Sarah is but please stay away from my boyfriend thanks !

I reread that over and over again, I mean I'm not so stunned that he got a girlfriend but I can't help feel a bit upset

Me- he's not coming, he's out of town are you hungry?

Dad- starving

I laugh at his response, I missed my dad so much "this seat taken?" I looked up and saw my dad

"Nope all yours" I giggled

The waitress came back over and took our orders, dinner was actually really fun I missed my dads company as dinner was ending we walked back to the car "do you want to come to the hospital instead?" Dad asked

"Are you sure?" I asked him when we got into the car

"Yeah, I want you to come to the hospital you haven't been in forever plus I know how much you like to make fun of new interns and first year med school students are actually touring the hospital tomorrow and since school is starting again I thought you'd like to have some fun before you go back next week" he said starting the car

"Yeah, what time?" I asked him

"8am" he said, I rolled my eyes

"Yay morning great" I said sarcastically

Hopefully making fun of new people will make my day joyful
