surprise daughter // greys anatomy

Chapter 4

"I have no idea what you are even talking about Cristina" I said

"why was that little girl in there holding a photo of you and derek" she asked

"Because.." I took a breath before finishing my sentence

"five years ago when I met derek at the bar we had sex like you know but I became pregnant but literally nobody knew until now but only you, derek and I know about this so please keep this private" I begged her finishing my sentence

"you are lucky I will because if we have to do surgery on her neither of you can be in there. You are going to have to come clean soon to Webber and she's also been asking about a miss Annie I'm not sure" Cristina told me.

I hear faint footsteps coming from the hallway "did you just say miss Annie?" A woman in her mid twenties asked

"um yes are you her?" I asked

"Yes I am, I've been looking for Sarah and I can't seem to... wait you are the girl in her photo" she said,

I looked at her with wide eyes "omg you are Sarah's mother what are the odds hi I'm Annie futt, she always keeps that photo in her pocket hoping to find you guys  when she's older and she finally did" she stated excitedly "

um hi.. she's right in that room" I told Annie and she walked straight in

"Grey I want you to scrub in on Sarah's abdominal surgery shes been bleeding for hours" Dr.bailey told me walking into her room, I tried telling her no but she instructed me and Cristina into her room

"Hi are you Sarah's care taker?" Dr.bailey asks, Annie nods to let bailey know to keep going

"do you know any family history of her? We are going to need that for hospital records" bailey asks once more

"um you could ask her parents? they are both in the room" Annie says,

bailey looks at me and derek "wait you too had a baby? When?" Bailey asks

"Meredith tell her" derek insisted

"well around 5 years ago.." I go and tell her the whole story of how and why and what went down all those years ago

A few hours later after her surgery we gave Sarah a paternity test to make sure derek and I are her actual parents "um Dr.Grey Dr.Shepherd, I forgot to mention that Sarah has an awaiting adoption and I'm not sure if I should let them know or not.." Annie stuttered, I looked at derek with teary eyed face.. our baby that I kept away from derek whom I love with my entire heart and now she is going to be taken away from us

"I think they should know" derek said giving my hand a squeeze

I agreed to what he said Annie walked out of the room leaving me and derek alone with our daughter

"derek.. I'm so sorry" I told him crying

"mer it's okay" he took my hand again giving it a squeeze

"no.. no it's never going to be okay because I took her away from us I never told you because Addison was here and now she's going to get taken away from us forever I'm not sure how I can cope with this" I started crying uncontrollably, derek pulled me into his lap shushing me quietly

"we are going to try everything we can to get her to be our kid full time, after all we are her actual parents" derek said, he kissed my cheek and I laid my head on his shoulder wiping my tears off looking at our sleeping daughter.
