Whelving Warmth
Chapter 17

"Aren't you going in?"

Ashton used his hand to stopped the elevator door from closing. He was still in wearing his suit. I bit my lower lip as I went in.

The ride was so silent. No one was talking. I'm silently wishing that other people would join us in the elevator but there's no one.

"Hey," binasag niya ang katahimikan.

Napatingin naman ako sa kanya at sinabi na ang kanina pang naglalaro sa aking isipan, "Thank you."

Naningkit ang mata niya. He looks like he don't remember why I'm thanking him.

"For saving me from my father's wrath last Friday," I specified.

"Oh, that?" he chuckled, maybe because of the term I used. Bahagya akong natulala. We were still so young when I last saw him like that. And now, it's happening.

"It's nothing," he gave me a small smile.

Saglit na tumahimik ulit. I stared at the elevator buttons. Trying to search in the deepest of my heart the feelings that I used to feel when I'm with him. Pero wala. Wala na talaga.

"You look happy," he commented making me look at him. "I saw you last Friday with the law student. You didn't noticed me," he chuckled. "Looks like he's the reason why you're happy."

Biglang pumasok si Theo sa isip ko. A smile automatically formed in my lips. "Yeah. I think so."

He smiled after seeing my smile. "I'm happy to see you like this, Sadie."

Nagulat ako sa sinabi niya. We never shared a talk like this since his mom died. He never smiled to me again after the tragedy. But now... Hindi na ba siya galit sa akin?

Sana.

"You too. I wish you more happiness with Ysa," I sincerely said.

I now understand him. It's hard to let go when you already found the right person for you.

Someday, we'll get out of our engagement. And if that day comes, I'll show the world how much Theo meant to me.

Nailing siya. He inserted both his hand in his pocket, "Ysa and I... we broke up. We're not together anymore."

Napasinghap ako sa sinabi niya. "I'm sorry," I uttered, not knowing what to say. I want to ask him about it but I don't think I'm in the right position.

"It's fine," sabi niya. Sakto namang nagbukas yung elevator.

He pointed a spot near his ear. "You may want to put your hair down. Your guy left you a love mark. Baka pagalitan ako ni Tito kapag nakita niya yan," he chuckled and gave me a smile before walking away.

I quickly grabbed my phone to see what he's refering to. My jaw dropped. Theo!

"Last day tomorrow! Aren't you excited to sleep?" bungad ko pagpasok sa kwarto ni Theo. He messaged me earlier that he's already here. I used the extra key he gave me last time.

He slightly turned to me, his specs were on. He's holding a piece of reviewer on his left hand and there's an open book in his bookstand.
