"I'm willing to fight for us, Ethan. Are you?" I asked as a tear slid down my face desperately waiting for him to reply. "I-" Ethan started until we heard the front door open.

I quickly rushed to the couch before shoving the book under one of the cushions. "Ian. Hey." I breathed out looking up at him as I stood straight by the couch.

"Hey. You okay?" Ian asked me looking over at Ethan. "Yeah. He was just leaving." I said making Ethan nod hesitantly.

He looked over to me for a moment before walking towards my front door and leaving. "Why was he here?" Ian asked making me sigh.

"I guess he was worried about me. He was calling me when I was at work." I said making him hum in reply. "I'm going to bed. Night." Ian said making me smile before he turned around and walked upstairs.

I grabbed the book from under the couch before turning out the lights. As my fingertips ran across the switch, I saw the wad of cash on the kitchen counter making me frown.

I grabbed it as I rolled my eyes before I shut off the lights. I rushed upstairs before throwing everything on my bed. I pulled out my phone and noticed 12 missed calls from Ethan along with a few texts.

'Please call me. We need to talk.'

'At least text me back. I need to know you're okay.'

'Amelia, please.' His texts read making my heart break in two.

'Meet me at the park tomorrow at noon.' I texted wanting to discuss what had just happened downstairs and what he needs to talk to me about. I needed to make sure he didn't tell anyone about this.

'Ethan came over and saw my notes before I could hide them. I didn't tell him you were helping me.' I said to Colton instantly making him reply. 'What did he say when he saw?' Colton asked making me sigh as I sat on my bed.

'Angry. But after I somewhat explained to him my intentions, he calmed down a bit. My brother came home before we could talk about it more.'

'Do you still want me to come over tomorrow?'

'No, thanks. I asked Ethan to meet me so we could talk.'

'Okay. Tell me how it goes.' Colton replied making me sigh again in exhaustion as I stood up.

I threw my phone onto my bed before walking over to my dresser. I grabbed a pair of pajamas before getting into the warm shower. "How the hell did I get here?" I muttered to myself as I closed my eyes under the hot water.

As I stepped out a shiver ran through my spine as the cold air hit me. I quickly got dry and dressed before walking towards my mirror. I started brushing my hair when I heard something against my bedroom window.

I stopped brushing my hair before walking slowly towards my window as the sound continued. I turned on my light as the sun finally set not making me able to see anything.

As I got closer, I saw it was small pebbles being thrown against my glass window making me open it. I leaned my head outside as I saw Ethan standing on my snow-covered lawn.

I was about to speak when I heard my phone ringing making me look away from him. I saw it was Ethan making me answer it.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I walked back over to the open window ignoring the ice-cold breeze. "Come down." He replied making me sigh.

"Ethan, can't we just discuss this to-" I started until he cut me off. "I need to talk about this now. Please come down." Ethan begged making me nod lightly. "Okay." Was all I said before I hung up.
