"I knew it!"
The blue-and-white striped fish smiled and set a fin to Nemo, trying to be nice to her new tankmate.
"Kid, if there's anything you need, just ask your Auntie Deb. THAT'S ME! Or if I'm not around, you can always talk to my sister Flo." She explained. She swam over to a reflective glass wall, showing her reflection. Deb acted like the reflection was her twin sister. It seemed she had some sort of split personality problem.
"Hi, how are ya?" 'Flo' asked, even though Nemo could clearly tell she was doing it.
"Don't listen to anything my sister says. SHE'S NUTS!" The striped female laughed aloud.
"Mhh mhmh mhm mmmh!" The starfish muffled. Her face was in the glass wall, making it hard to hear her.
"Can't hear ya Peach!" Bloat rolled his eyes in response. Peach popped her face out but still hung on the glass wall.
"I said we've got a live one!" Peach announced excitedly.
"Ooh oh boy oh boy oh boy!" Bloat said as they all swam up next to her. They could hear Peach now as she stuck her head back on.
"What do we got?" The striped fish asked Peach in wonder. nemo watched this in confusion. They all seemed to be examining the dentist treating a patient for some reason.
"Root canal, and by the looks of those x-rays, it's not going to be pretty!" Peach explained with a grin. The patient screamed as he was having a small machine in his mouth.
"Robert dam and clamp installed?" The pufferfish asked.
"Yep!" Peach said reassuringly.
"What did he use to open?" The royal gramma asked next.
"Gator-Glidden drill. He seems to be favoring that one lately." Peach muttered. Nemo said nothing as he continued to wonder what was going on and why they were watching the dentist and naming off weird names for materials he's never heard of. he looked over at Deb, who tried but couldn't see Flo due to the dentist being in the way.
"Ugh. I CAN'T see Flo!" Deb complained out loud. The dentist put away the small item and grabbed what looked like a screwdriver.
"You're getting a little to--" The patient suddenly screamed again as a scraping noise could be heard.
"Now he's doing a shilder technique." Peach explained in wonder.
"He's using a Hedstrom file." The pufferfish told them with a smile, seeming excited about this. Gurgle thought differently. The royal gramma looked up at him.
"That's not a Hedstrom file. That's a K-flex!" He corrected him. Bloat sighed, not wanting to argue with him again.
"It has a teardrop cross section. Clearly, a Hedstrum." Bloat told him.
"No no. K-flex."
"Hedstrum!"
"K-FLEX!"
"HEDSTRUM!" Bloat then puffed up into a giant pointy ball.
"Urk! Here I go...a little help...over here!" The pufferfish tried to speak as he rolled over. The striped female sighed in annoyance.
"I'll go deflate him."
*PFFFFFFFT!!*
"Alright. Go ahead and rinse." The dentist told the patient. the patient rinsed his mouth and spat into the small sink beside him. the royal gramma looked disgusted by this.
"Ugh. The human mouth is a DISGUSTING place!" He muttered, getting a little sick just watching him.
*WHAP!*
Someone suddenly opened the window beside them.
"Hey, Nigel." Peach greeted, already knowing who it was without having to look over.
"What did I miss an I late?" Someone asked. Nemo looked over and saw a giant pelican sitting at the window.
"Root canal and it's a doozy!" Peach explained to him happily.
"Root canal? What did he use to open?" Nigel asked interestedly as he continued examining the dentist and the patient.
"Gator-Glidden drill." The starfish answered in return.
"He's been favoring that one. Hope he doesn't get Surplus Sealer at the Portal Terminus..." Nigel nodded and looked over. Seeing a new fish in the tank, he peeked over and smiled.
"Hello?" Nigel noticed Nemo, who gasped in worry.
"Who's this?" Nigel asked.
"New guy!" The striped fish answered as she laughed happily.
"The dentist took him off the reef!" Gurgle explained to Nigel, who was a little behind on the details. Nigel seemed delighted to see a newcomer from his side of the neighborhood.
"An outie! From my neck of the woods, eh? Sorry if I ever took a snap at ya. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta eat!" Nigel winked with a grin.
"Hey!!"
the dentist noticed Nigel's presence and walked over to the window to shoo him away.
"No, no, no! Those aren't your fish! They're my fish! Go! Go on! Shoo! Shoo!!" As he left, Nigel accidentally broke one of the dentist's pictures sitting next to the window. the dentist shut the window to examine the broken picture frame.
"*Sigh* The picture broke. This here is Darla. She's my niece. She's going to be 8 this week!" The dentist explained to his patient. The fish tried to act neutral like they weren't eavesdropping on him.
"Hey, little fella!" The dentist greeted with a delightful tone in his voice. The fish quickly hid away except Nemo, who just stood there in confusion.
"Say hello to your new mummy! She's gonna be here Friday to pick you up!" He showed Nemo the broken picture of Darla holding a bag, which he covered with his thumb. Nemo became concerned about this.
"You're her present! Oh shh shh shh shh! It's our little secret!" He continued. The dentist set down the picture and walked away to the bathroom.
"Well, Mr. Tucker. While that sets up, I'm going to see a man about a wallaby! I'll be right back!" He spoke to his patient. Nemo swam closer to the picture to examine it in wonder.
"Oh...Darla." The pufferfish mumbled, with a low sarcastic tone.
"Wha? What's wrong with her?" Nemo asked, a little worried to hear his answer.
"She wouldn't stop shaking the bag!" The royal gramma grumbled angrily. The picture now revealed a dead fish in the bag Darla was holding.
"Poooor Chuckles..." Bubbles mumbled, keeping his head low in respect for their old friend.
"He was her present last year!" The striped fish cried as everyone nodded in sadness.
"Hitched a ride on the porcelain express." Bloat said. They all looked up as the dentist walked out of the bathroom, wiping his hands together.
"She's a...FISH KILLER!" The starfish told Nemo. Nemo suddenly became frightened again, realizing where they were getting at. Darla shook the bag until Chuckles couldn't breathe and died. They then flushed him down the toilet and now Darla was coming back for her yearly fish present once more this week.
And Nemo was next...
Now. If Marlin didn't rescue him soon, he would end up in a bag for his last words.
"I can't go with that girl! I have to get back to my Dad!" Nemo swam up to try and escape but ended up getting sucked into the filter in result.
"DADDY!! HELP MEEEE!!" He yelled loudly as the others panicked.
"Oh he's stuck!" the striped fish spoke worriedly. They all tried to help him but someone stopped them from doing so.
"Nobody touch him!"
They all looked over at a skull decor as a Moorish Idol swam out from behind it.
"Nobody touch him." He repeated with a mumble. Nemo tried but couldn't get himself out as the new fish swam up to him. the others backed away as they were told with worry.
"Can you help me?" Nemo asked, struggling to escape.
"No. You got yourself in there, you can get yourself out." The Moorish idol explained in a 'no positive attitude'.
"Uh Gill-" The striped fish tried to explain the situation at hand but Gill wouldn't have it.
"I just want to see him do it okay?" He told them, making Nemo even more nervous. Gill looked back at him once more.
"Calm down. Now alternate wiggling your fins and tail." Gill explained to him calmly. Nemo shook his head in response.
"I can't. I-I have a bad fin!" Nemo told him. His head was the only thing that was outside of the tube so he could barely move.
"Never stopped me,"
Gill then swam to one side, showing Nemo his bad fin. His fin was all scratched up, along with his side and bottom part of face. Nemo gasped in realization.
"Just think about what you need to do," Gill whispered to him, facing him yet again. Nemo knew he had to get out so he could try to get back to his Dad. As he thought this, he slowly began to inch himself out.
"Come on..." The pufferfish urged silently. Nemo then successfully popped out and smiled proudly as water rushed back in the air filter.
"Perfect."
Everyone suddenly cheered and swam up to Nemo happily. Peach and Gill watched this as Peach made a small smile. This wasn't the first time somebody from the ocean joined the Tank Gang.
"Wow. From the ocean. Just like you Gill!" Peach told her friend proudly. Gill agreed with her with a small smirk, to which she chuckled in response.
"I've seen that look before. What are you thinking about?" Peach looked over at him in thought,
"I'm thinking... tonight, we give the kid a proper reception." Gill explained to her as she smiled in agreement and looked back at Nemo and the others. Nemo would be pronounced an official member of the Tank Gang.
"So kid, you got a name or what?" The pufferfish asked with a grin.
"Nemo... I'm Nemo."
