after sixth stood harry and i headed over to Macs classroom. we been studying for the EOC which is happening in a few months.

"so what are your grades?" i asked harry.

"A's in maths, english, and science." he said, adding,

"and a D in history." with a small chuckle at the end.

"lucky for you, that's my best subject." i smiled.

"always has been." he smiled back.

"you know it." i laughed, before asking him to pull up a low test grade.

"oh. ancient egypt! that was my favorite one to learn about." i laughed as he started the quiz.

"this is a big one." i said reading the first question.

"Why did hieroglyphs develop?" i asked.

"i don't know." he said, looking away.

"you do know. stop playing dumb harry." i said, looking at his eyes.

ever since we were little, harry's never been able to lie to me. when he does, he looks away and his eyes twitch like mine used to.

"i said i don't know payton." he answered.

"and i know you do. so i'm gonna ask you again, why did hieroglyphs develop?" i said, in a bolder way than before.

"to record important events." he mumbled.

"what were they mainly about?" i asked.

"wars, as well as their gods and pharaohs" he smiled looking up at me.

"i told you. i knew that you knew it." i smiled.

"i know." he said.

"why were you playing dumb?" i asked.

"i dunno. i don't wanna seem like a nerd?" he said.

"i get that." i giggled.

-

"last question." he smiled.

"What body of water played a large role in the development of ancient egypt?" he read off the screen.

"we just talked about this." he smiled.

"the nile river." he answered.

"and why?" i asked.

"it brought water as well as rich fertile soil to the egyptians. this benefited them when it came to growing crops." he said.

"yes!" i said getting excited.

"you're gonna pass the EOC!" i said doing a lil victory dance.

"i'm such a good tutor." i laughed.

"you are. now let's submit this." he smiled, clicking the orange button that said submit.

"45 out of 45!" he yelled.

"AH GOOD JOB!" i yelled back as we got up and jumped from happiness.

"thank you so much payton." he said pulling me into a hug.

"of course." i smiled.

"check your grade now." i said as he flipped pages.

"76.8" he said, excitedly.

"let's do two more quizzes and it has to go up to at least a B." i smiled.

-

"okay." he said, adding,

"lemme check it now." with a lil smile at the end.

"94%"he yelled.

"Fuck yeah!" i yelled back.

-

we were currently on the way to harry's car since he offered to drive me home since my mum was out of town on a business meeting.

"wanna stay over at mines tonight?" i asked.

"hell yeah. dial my mums number so i can ask. and if she says yeah we'll just stop by mine to pick up clothes and all of that." he said as i grabbed his phone and unlocked it before going to the phone app and clicking the contact labeled, "mum 🐄"

"wow you're a prick." i laughed.

"why?"

"the cow emoji?" i giggled pressing dial then speaker.

"hello?" his mom said

"hey mum can i stay over at payton's tonight?" harry asked

"of course!" she said rather quickly.

"just bring her by the house so i can see her! i miss her!" she added.

"she's in the car if you wanna say hi." harry laughed.

"Hi Mrs Lewis." i smiled.

"Hi honey! how've you been?" she asked.

"good! schools been a pain but good!" i giggled.

-

"we're outside mom. payton can talk to you inside, hang up." harry laughed, turning the car off.

"oh alright. i'll see you inside honey." she said making me smile.

"see you inside mom." harry smiled.

and with that she hung up.
