We were 8, me and Scott as we stood saying goodbye to to his Auntie and a few of his other reletives, there was a fire that was caused by hunters, the ones responsible are known are being punished for their crimes, I was staying with Scott and his mum when it happened, my dad was on work leave and had gone away to clear his mind a few months ago I had to attend a place like this, dad said it was to say good bye to mum until we can see her again, there were a few other family reletives

There were 3 children who stood slightly alone, the youngest looked around the same age as me and Scott, that was Cora Scott told me about her and how joyful she always was, she didn't look so joyful right now, I don't blame her she was clinging to the other girl crying

then there was an older lad his names Derek he's stood by his sisters you could see the strain in his face as he held back any attmpt the tears made to try and escape as he scowled at the coffin in front of him, I don't imagine anything could stop him from his tear fighting

The oldest who was holding the youngest crying just as much, that was Laura Scott told me she was always brave, she had both arms around Cora protectively, despite her own safness you could see ger glance at her younger brother to see how he was holding up, she'd tell him it's ok to cry but it didn't faulter his concentration the slightest

After the funeral me Scott melissa and the Hale Siblings went to the Mccall house, Me, Scott and Derek are in one room, Cora and Laura in the another and Malissa on her own room, Derek didn't speak to anyone the whole day and when we got back he went and shut himself in the bedroom

It was dinner time and Derek still hadn't come down, the girls were not really eating and just fiddling with the food on their plate, Melissa decided to leave Derek after calling him twice and getting no response, I slid out of my seat leaving at least half my food and Scott stared at me as I made my way upstairs and Melissa was busy trying to get Laura and Cora to eat so she didn't notice, I pushed open the bedroom door and Derek was sat on the chair just staring at the floor, he took a quick glance at me as I shut the door, shuffling on my feet as I thought about something..... "I need a cuddle" I blurted out and Derek gave me a quick confused look "Scott doesn't cuddle me well an Melissa is busy with your sisters so I thought maybe... maybe you could... never mind"

"Ok" he said quietly I almost didn't hear him, he sat back in the chair and I walked over to him biting my lip, the truth is I didn't actually need a cuddle I wanted to give him a cuddle that always seemed to help when I lost my mum, I climbed onto Derek's lap and wrapped my arms around him and he did the same before nuzzling his face into my neck, We sat in silence for a while before I heard him take a shaky breath and at that point I knew he was letting it out, he was crying, I just tightened my arms around the older boy and held him quietly

After that me and Derek remained close, at least for a year, when my dad came back and decided he was fit enough to look after me again, Derek stood on the stairs with a frown as my dad packed my bags into the car while Scott Laura and Cora hugged the life outta me, "go get Derek" Laura whispered only Derek scowled at her he obviously heard her before retreating up the stairs

"Ready to go Stiles" Dad said coming back into the house

I shook my head and headed for the stairs "not yet I got one more thing to do" I said quickly jogging up the stairs to the bedroom where Derek was once again looking at the floor with a sad look just like he was just over a year ago "sour wolf"

He looked up at me and sighed "don't call me that" he grunted out

I walked over and poked his chest "I'm only 10 minute walk away, I'm sure Scott would brig you around whenever he comes over, and there is still school, no need for such a long face, I'm not going anywhere" I said with a grin and flopped against him giving him a tight hug"

He let out a huff and tightly wrapped his arms around me "I'll miss you little fox" he said and kissed my forehead before pushing me back slightly "and that's my jumper"

I grinned at him "mine now wolfie" I chuckled and ran down the stairs and Derek followed after not saying much but watched as I got the the door "dad, Derek is ok to visit whenever right"

My dad looked at the older boy on the stairs then to me and nods "yeah Stiles, thats fine" he said he knew why Melissa had them, "you are also welcome to come here whenever for as long as I know where my son is"

I grinned up at him stepping up the two steps where Derek stopped and quickly kissed his cheek before heading outside to the car and it barely reached a day before Derek came with Scott to visit me for a bro's night and games to play, let's just say Derek spent more days visiting then staying with Melissa and Scott to the point Laura and Melissa joked that he might as well be living here then at theirs, Scott had a pout trying to claim that Derek was going to take the best friend title for him and Derek just shook his head with a small chuckle
