Stiles was 8 when he met Derek, Derek was 24 when he first met Stiles.... why because for 12 years, Derek was in a coma

Stiles was 8, he was bored sitting in a waiting room being watched by the nurses because his dad couldn't get a babysitter that wouldn't give up on Stiles after a day, Melissa had often helped look after Stiles but was called into the hospital at an emergency after a house was burnt down leaving 3 members severely injured and most dead.

Stiles tried to keep his promise, he'd even swear on yoda if he had to but he was curious and something just lead him to one of the rooms, it was filled with doctors and the 3 patients and Stiles watched through the window as they hooked them up to machines and monitors wires coming off them all "Stiles" Stiles head darted round to see his dad looking at him confused "you're not suppose to be here" he went to grab Stiles but was stopped at the loud beeping coming from the room and the fact more nurses had swarmed in pretty fast

He looked around worried and when Melissa came into view he was quick to ask what was happening as soon as the beeping died down "they are stable but the boy is not looking so good, the girls are stable" Noah sighed "I have 3 sick kids one of them critical and everyone else D.O.S" Noah ran his hands through his hair before he noticed Stiles was gone which only caused more panick "and one missing, Stiles!"

It didn't take Melissa long to see the boy in the room poking at one of the patients "not sleepy time" he said as Melissa quickly picked him up "why they sleeping, are they sleeping like mummy" Melissa opened her mouth, Stiles mother died last year and she knew the boy missed her and often asked about her "no Stiles, they are just resting, like you do when you're sick"

Stiles nodded "please stay out of trouble son, I have some work to do, behave for Melissa" Stiles gave his dad a big smile "okai, can I play with them when they are awake" Noah gave Melissa a look "If Melissa says it's okai, but only when Melissa says" Stiles nodded again and Noah left to fill out what he could till they woke up and find out more

It was 3 days before both the girls had woken up, Stiles found out their names where Laura and Cora and told them Derek was very Lazy, Melissa hadn't seen any harm of Stiles being in the room with them, he'd actually behaved and stayed out of trouble, Laura found it amusing as the boy talked so much Cora was pleading for silence which only lasted 5 minutes if she was lucky

Laura found it cute how Stiles mimicked the actions of the doctors checking on Derek, like he had to do his own tests and proudly repeated his results to Luara, Cora wouldn't admit the boy was cute, she's the same age and boys are just gross she told Laura one day after Stiles all day visit

Laura was 18 and had taken on the full responsibility of Cora and Derek but Derek was showing no sign of waking up even after 6 months, Stiles was still there every day and when Laura came to see her brother he was often sat on a chair next to the bed reading to him, today it was little red riding hood "Hi Laura" Stiles greeted as she came over

Laura gave Stiles a smile that made Stiles smile drop "why Laura not happy" Laura chuckled she knew Stiles would be able to tell, she let out a sigh "Me and Cora are going to go on a trip but we can't take Derek with us" Stiles frowned "when you come back" Laura looked at Derek, she just hoped her brother got better sooner "when he wakes up" she said sadly, Stiles head dropped "oh"

Laura smiled and looked at Stiles before crouching infront of him "can I ask Stiles a big favour" when Stiles nodded she took the book from him and patted his head "Take care of my baby brother for me, and when he wakes up till I can come and look after him" Stiles nodded sternly "Okai, I look after Derek" Stiles grin blew wide, Laura gave him a kiss of the head and one to Dereks before bidding her goodbyes to them
