marley clicks in the facetime button under vinnie's and waits for him to pick up, which doesn't take long. vinnie's face shows up and a huge smile overtakes his face.

"i feel like i haven't seen your face in years." he sighed.

"we were facetiming last night, dude." marley laughed.

"yeah it's been so long. i have a question."

"yes"

"what if..." he paused.

"what if we what?" marley asked, her eyebrows furrowed.

"nevermind it's dumb." he shrugged it off.

"well now you have to tell me." marley clears her throat.

"no i don't." he disagreed.

"uh, yeah you do." marley looks to her door as her mom entered. "yes mommy?"

"dad and caleb want to know what you want from the chinese place." vinnie stayed quiet on the other line as he listened to them.

"uh plane lo mein, sesame chicken, an egg roll, and duck sauce. can he get a coke too?" marley asked her mom.

"yeah is that all?" her mom asked.

"uh yeah. yes ma'am."

"who are you talking to?" marley looked at her mom not saying anything for a few seconds.

"uh, vinnie." she said quietly.

"oh that boy that—" the phone went silent on the other end. marley had put it on mute.

vinnie tried hard to not laugh at the girl as she frantically got up from her bed to get her mom outside the room.

"sorry about that." marley clears her throat.

"what happened?" vinnie laughed.

"nothing. she's just being my mom." marley laughed nervously.

"okay. what time is it?" vinnie asked the girl.

"7:41, you?" she replied.

"4:41? real thing, you still call your mom mommy?"

"i do sometimes. it just slips out. so don't make fun of me." marley's cheeks tinted pink.
