It's hard to understand people who are so used to keeping up an act, like Jungkook did.

This was the thing you realized after that day.

The day after Miri left again that is.

It was a Saturday and you'd felt the thick tension having wrapped itself around the small house in every room you were making a step in.

Your sleep-fogged brain didn't comprehend what exactly it was right away, it was more like a feeling you got as the morning went on.

Only after you had taken a shower and were sitting in the kitchen with a mug of hot chocolate you were able to take a grasp of what it was; you were alone.

Like silence-engulfed, heart-wrenchingly alone.

Ever since you had made this place your home it had been filled with a pleasant buzz of people living their lives around you.

Wether it was Jee fooling around in the living room, Haru sitting at the dining table reading newspaper, Jungkook chilling on the couch while scrolling through his phone or your mother swirling through the house with a, after all those years, happy hum.

But today you encountered no one as time went on. Jee was scooped up in his room and your mom was still sleeping by noon and if this wasn't strange enough for both your family members you had to realize that you hadn't seen either Haru or Jungkook just a single time.

You had checked twice; Haru was not in his and your mother's bedroom and neither was Jungkook in his.

Truthfully, it wasn't unusual for Jungkook not to be home on Saturday but Haru not being present either gave the situation a totally other feeling.

You stressed over their disappearance until your mom entered the kitchen to get herself some water, giving you the opportunity to finally get your much needed answers.

"Mom, where is Haru headed?" You had a surprising amount of worry in your voice, making your mom give you a soothing glance.

"He's out for today." She explained, "He... uhm is out with friends."

If there was one thing you had always been sure of, then it was that your dear mother is a terrible liar, what was very obvious in the moment, gathering your worries to a point where you felt like running outside to go search for your step-dad just to make sure that your mom wasn't really lying to you.

But nevertheless you didn't comment on it, just nodded.

You'd been stressing your mind over the weird situation your family seemed to be in today for quite a time when an expressionless Jungkook barged in the house, storming upstairs in an instant with out greeting you - or, really, acknowledging you at all.

You watched his tall frame disappearing upstairs and felt a new wave of worry wash over you.

For the first time since ever, you had wished that he was out on his usual fuck-sprees, what would ensure you that nothing was off but as he came back like this it kind of confirmed that today wasn't like every day.

You squinted your eyes at the point you had seen Jungkook last, feeling bad for not being able to talk to Jungkook.

You had always tried your best to keep yourself out of Jungkook's business, not wanting to snoop around stuff that didn't concern you, that wasn't your place to think about, but since Miri had mentioned Jungkook's mom yesterday the worry about the boy kind of overloaded.

You yourself had experienced the feeling of being abandoned by a parent twice with your own dad and later on Jee's. You didn't want to make any assumptions, though you may have been a bit partial in these kind of things.
