Daniel lived in a world where when you turn 18, you get a number placed on your forehead, and your soulmate has the same number. Daniel woke up on his 18th birthday with a 73 written on his forehead. He inspected the photo he had taken moments earlier and tried to think of anyone he knew with that number, but nobody came to mind.

He quickly changed his clothes into skinny black ripped jeans and a long sleeved orange shirt. He added some chains and a Gucci belt then slipped on his checkered vans.

He walked downstairs to see his mom and dad there with a smile.

"You got your number?" Keri asked excitedly. Daniel nodded and moved his hair out of the way. Keri walked over to Daniel and hugged him. "You're growing up too fast, soon enough you'll find the one and you'll move out, then I won't have my little baby anymore."

Keri pulled away from the hug with teary eyes.

"I'll always be your baby, momma," Daniel said quietly. "But I better get going, or I'll be late to school."

"Ok, you have a good day alright? I packed you a special lunch."

Keri handed Daniel a brown paper bag with a smile. Daniel gently kissed her cheek.

"Thanks mom, see you guys later!"

Daniel walked out of the front door and got into his blue old fashioned car before beginning the drive to school.

When Daniel arrived at school, aka hell, he walked inside and went to his locker. It was all decorated with photos of him and streamers. There was also a sticky note saying 'happy birthday! - Jack'.  Jack, Daniel's best friend, came up behind him and hugged him tightly, which made Daniel jump.

"Hey birthday boy," Jack said. Daniel laughed as Jack let go and faced Daniel.

"Hey weirdo. Did you really have to decorate my locker?" Daniel asked.

"Yes, it's tradition."

"Ok, whatever."

"Did you get your number?" Jack asked.

"Yeah!" Daniel moved his hair out of the way and let Jack get a good look.

"Ooh! 73, interesting," Jack said. Daniel nodded in agreement but shrugged it off.

Zach, Jack's boyfriend, walked up behind him and hugged him.

"Hey cutie," Zach said with a giggle. Jack laughed and turned around to face Zach.

"Hey baby," Jack replied. The two shared a soft kiss before turning their attention back to Daniel. The couple both had the same number implanted on their forehead, 43. All Daniel wanted was to find his soulmate, he wanted to find the person that he'd find the rest of his life with.

"We should get to class, catch you later Dani," Jack said. The two did their handshake before Zach and Jack walked away. Daniel closed his locker with a sigh, he'll just have to wait for the right moment.

*2 months later*

Daniel had been searching everywhere for his soulmate. Every person he walked by he'd check their number, just to be sure. He prayed every night that he would find the one.

As Daniel walked into school he heard whispers around him as people talked about a 'new kid'.

He continued walking, ignoring the whispers and odd stares that he was getting from fellow students. He kept walking until he ran into someone.

"Oh my god I'm so s-," Daniel started. He looked up at the person and noticed the number largely written on their forehead. 73. "Oh my god."

"Wow," the blond boy said quietly.

"You're my soulmate," Daniel breathed out. Corbyn smiled widely and pulled Daniel into a tight hug. "I've been waiting for so long, you have no idea."

The two boys started crying into each other, overwhelmed by the moment.

"I can't believe this is real," the blond boy said quietly. They pulled away from the hug and wiped their tears away. "What's your name?"

"I'm Daniel, you?"

"I'm Corbyn."

Daniel smiled up at Corbyn before hugging him again. "You ready for the rest of our lives together?" Corbyn asked gently.

"I was born ready."
