A week after Savanna and I broke up I start getting ready for school when I get the familiar pain of loss in my chest I sigh as it strengthens. When I was ready I get in my car and wait for Ethan to get his ass in my car when he doesn't show I leave without him and speed to the school as quickly as I could without getting caught.
Once at school I grab my bag and rush to Holly's locker where she was putting away her books I notice she's alone so I walk over to her "hey" I say she jumps when she hears my voice "Grayson you scared me" she says holding her chest I laugh "sorry I just wanted to see how you're doing" I tell her awkwardly she smiles at me weakly
"that's nice of you" she says turning back to her locker she grabs a few books "how are things with you and Ethan?" I ask she smiles then her smile fades and the bell rings "I gotta go" she says rushing past me I sigh frustratedly. I pull out my phone and text Terry 'skipping you down?' he replies as I get to my car 'sure Andy and I are at the park' he sends back I roll my eyes and get in my car.
I drive over to the park that was about ten minutes from the school. I see Nova and Peyton two of Holly's friends hanging out with Terry and Andy. I groan then get out of my car and jog over to them "yo" Andy says fist bumping "finally stopped fucking around huh?"Terry asks putting his arm around Peyton "I see you're not" I shot back he laughs and she blushes
He nods "well thought I'd settle," Terry says Peyton elbows him playfully "are they always like this?" I ask Nova she rolls her eye "I'm glad I still have Willow" she says sitting down next to Andy on one of the benches I sit on his other side and join in their conversation.
Terry starts talking about his soccer game last night and Peyton adds her version of how well he played but Andy confirmed he wasn't that great. I laugh with Andy as he pokes fun at Terry and Peyton defends him "yo it's lunchtime" Terry says I look down at my phone and notice he's right "y'all staying the rest of the day?" I ask they all nod
"actually I'm going back to the school for lunch Willow'll be lonely" Nova tells me I nod "I'll drive you back" I tell her she smiles at me and we walk back to my car. As I drive us back to the school she puts her hand on my thigh "or we could stop at my house first" she says winking I take my hand off my thigh
"if you're looking for a quick fuck look somewhere else" I tell her not taking my eyes off the road she huffs "I miss the old Grayson" she says I laugh rolling my eyes and once we get to the school she gets out as quickly as she can.
Once she's out of sight I get out of my car and text Holly telling her I want to talk. She doesn't reply so I walk into the cafe and see her sitting with Ethan alone at a table in the back corner of the cafe. I take note on how happy she looks with him and how when she was with me she seemed sad when I catch her eye she looks at her phone whispers something to Ethan and walks towards me.
She sighs and crosses her arms "haven't you talked to me enough today?" she asks I sigh sadly "please Holly I want to fix things" I confess she rolls her eyes "why didn't you want to fix things a month ago?" she asks angrily I try to reply but feel a loss of words "that's what I thought" she says turning around I grab her hand "wait" I say she turns around looks down at my hands then our eyes meet
"don't you feel that?" I ask her seriously she nods "I feel an asshole who broke my heart trying to win me over again," she says pulling her hand out of mine "it's not going to work this time," she says walking away from me. I try to grab her hand again but she keeps it far enough away that I can't get it "I'm sorry" I say after her she turns around "it's too late" she says her eyes flashing with sadness for only a second before pure rage fires up in them. As she turns around again I feel sad and defeated so I just go home with a heavy heart.
