I got out of the shower and slipped on my new outfit. The floral pastel pink crop top went well with my white shorts. I tied up my pair of white Converse and sat in front of the dresser. Some pink eye shadow would look nice today.

I finished my artwork on my face. I gasped when I saw myself. The pink eye shadow looked so nice, and I was glad because I had never gotten the chance to use it. I put light pink lipstick on my lips so it had a more natural look and stuck my tongue out in front of the mirror.

I was actually confident in myself for once. I stood up and started striking poses. I felt like I was walking the Red Carpet when the door opened.

"What are you doing?" Stella asked, clearly amused.

"Uhh none of your business," I spewed. I itched the back of my neck in embarrassment.

"You look nice. Have fun at your party," she said before leaving. I was surprised at the compliment because for the first time in forever, it didn't sound like sarcasm. The party was supposed to start at 6:00 and I was already three minutes late. I grabbed my phone from off the bed and ran out the door.

I drove in anticipation, and somewhere inside of me I was scared. All these people were having a party for me when the thing they were celebrating may not even happen.

When I turned on Jess' street, my mouth fell open. Cars lined the street, so I had to park at the end.

"Looks like the whole world showed up," I muttered to myself.

I got out and could hear the blasting music. I walked to the backyard and it was littered with young adults, most of which had a drink in their hand.

"Belle! Congratulations!" they shouted. I thanked them and kept walking, hoping to find Jess.

I found her, talking to our other friends in the kitchen. She was wearing a long sleeve black dress that went down to her knees. On her neck was a black pendant. She was wearing black flats and some eye makeup. I wasn't gonna lie, she looked awesome.

"Belle!" she exclaimed. After giving me a death hug, the two girls with her, Natalie and Anya, congratulated me as well. They had also been my close friends since elementary school.

"You guys look great!" I told them. I looked at my own outfit and suddenly felt a little under dressed.

"Don't worry Belle, you do too," Jess reassured. I bet she could read my expression.

There were people everywhere. Some were dancing, and some were taking shots. I absolutely hated the taste of alcohol. The smell of it wafting through the air made me gag.

As I walked by people, they made sure to congratulate me. I sat down on a barstool, ready to order some Diet Coke.

I froze when I spotted Grant.

Grant was my lowly next door neighbor, a playboy who would try to get with any girl he could. He had lived next door since we were in middle school, after his parents got a divorce.

He lived with his mother, who was too busy with her work to ever make time for him. I had enough of a heart to feel bad for him, but that didn't mean he could manipulate any girl he wanted.

Everyone knew he had been after me for months, but I wasn't gonna give up to an idiot who would break my heart after a day.

I tried to get up and walk away before he noticed me, but he gave the small shot glass back to the bartender. He licked his lips and slid over to where I was nervously sitting.
