Jess and I sat on my bed, discussing what I should do.

"We should host a celebration party tomorrow!" Jess exclaimed. I bit my lip, because I didn't even know if I was gonna accept the offer.

"I don't know Jess..."

"C'mon it'll be so much fun. We can have it at my house. My treat." She looked so eager, and I couldn't say no.

"Fine..." I said, unsure. She clapped her hands in excitement and picked up her phone to start texting people.

I laid across my bed and sighed. I stared at the BTS poster that was near my dresser. I couldn't stop thinking about the possible BigHit offer. What if I got accepted?

Jess interrupted my train of thought.

"Done. 90 people invited."

"90?!" I shouted in shock.

"Yeah, the more the merrier." I held my face in my hands, my face heating up. 90 people all there for me? I didn't feel so sure about the idea but as long as Jess was sure, I felt better. I laughed sheepishly and tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear.

"Is this about Nick?" I looked at her with a smirk.

"No, this is about you." She was starting to turn pink. Jess had had a crush on Nick since 9th grade. I didn't know how she still had it in her.

"Oh please. I'm your best friend. I can see right through you."

Jess checked her watch. "Oh man, I'm late. See ya tomorrow!" she said before running out of the room. I heard the door shut from downstairs. 

As soon as Jess left, my mom walked in and sat on my bed.

"So, are you gonna accept?" she asked. I shrugged and looked away.

"I don't really know."

"It's your choice. I think it's a good idea to wait to get more offers so that you can choose the right one."

Wow, thanks for the help, I thought.

"Come down, dinner's ready."

"I'm not hungry." I really wasn't in the mood for food. I was too busy thinking about what was going on that I had completely lost my appetite.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." I was starting to get impatient. Not with my mom, but for a hint on what to do next. I was so stuck and I needed to move forward.

"Okay," she said, walking away. I pulled the covers over my head and pulled out my phone. I scrolled through Instagram, looking at the girls my age who were out with their boyfriends having fun while I stayed in my room and contemplated my life decisions.

I was getting spammed with texts from my friends saying congratulations. It must've been Jess who told them, even though she knew that I wasn't sure about the offer. 

I decided not to put it against her considering she was my #1 supporter and probably wanted everyone to know about my accomplishments.I had known her since second grade, so we had been through a lot together.

I focused on keeping an optimistic mindset before any offer was confirmed. I fell asleep listening to "Intro: Singularity", Taehyung's voice lulling me to sleep.

Jess

i'm outside

Confused, I walked out of my house. Jess was standing outside, her car parked on the curb. I gave her a "what" look.

"We're going shopping for tonight," she called out. I sighed and got in the passenger's seat. She gave me a mischievous smile. 

"You know you love me," she added.

"Unfortunately." I playfully punched her in the shoulder and she winced.

We drove to the mall, talking the entire time. I had refused to wear a dress, so Jess gave up trying to convince me.

We walked in the store and Jess immediately started looking at a selection of cute tops. I found a pair of white ripped shorts and Jess found a light pink crop top that looked perfect with them. Maybe the party wouldn't be so bad. I paid for the outfit and went to help Jess pick hers.

"No, no I already have mine." I looked at her wide-eyed. Wow, she was prepared, like usual. I hadn't even thought about what I was gonna wear until Jess had pulled up in front of my house.

We walked out of the store when all of a sudden, Jess started pulling my arm furiously. I looked at her in shock and she had gone red. Her eyes pierced me when she mouthed "Nick".

I turned around and Nick was strolling past the stores. He was with one friend, holding an Adidas bag. He didn't see us, which I was surprised about because we were looking at him like he was a celebrity.

He walked into the store next to the one we were just in. Jess gave me a pleading look and I exhaled loudly. 

I dragged her into the store Nick went into and she looked like she was about to pass out. I thought she was over this stage, considering the amount of time she had liked him.

I saw Nick looking at the shirts that were on sale. His friend picked one out and they went to the dressing room. His brown hair was neatly styled and his toothy smile was covered by a thin pair of lips.

"Here take this and go to the dressing room," I said, stuffing a random pair of pants in her arms. 

She scurried off to the dressing rooms and I followed her from a distance. I turned the corner and saw her talking to Nick.

"Hey Jess," he said.

"Hi! Are you coming to Belle's party tonight?"

"Yeah I am, sorry I forgot to tell you." I saw the smile on her face grow wider.

"Okay cool, see ya tonight?"

"Yup." He smiled at her and I was ready to catch her before she passed out.

She ran back to me, tossed the pants, and pulled me out of the store.

"YAYYYY!" She sounded like a two year old who had just been given a unicorn. I was squealing too, because this party could finally give Jess a chance to impress Nick.

"Shh he might hear you," I told her while containing my laughter. We quickly walked back to her car. She played "Go Go" and I could tell she was in a really good mood.

She dropped me off in front of my house and I bolted up the steps. Maybe a nice nap would help me before the party.
