Tapos na ang kainan at yung eighteen roses na yung kasunod. Medyo kinakabahan narin ako sa mangyayari dahil hindi ko alam kung anong timing ba yung gagawin ko.
I was thinking I should call him out of the venue and tell him what I feel.
Pero ngayon, nagdesisyon na ako.
"Kayden?" Lumingon siya.
"Happy eighteenth birthday." He said, seemingly smiling with his eyes slightly closing.
"Thanks. Ma... ma.." nahihirapan kong sinasabi.
"Ano yon?"
"Ah. Ma-Masarap ba yung food?" Tae. Ang duwag ko talaga.
"Yes. It is." Ngumiti siya ulit.
"Ah. Sige, maghahanda na ako sa susunod na mangyayari...daw."
He chuckled. "Go."
I pressed both of my lips together, forming a straight line and turned back. Pero naramdaman kong hinawakan niya yung braso ko at inikot ako papunta sa harapan niya. My eyes went big when he held my face, staring right into my eyes.
"M-May kailangan ka ba?" God Catty! don't stutter.
The next thing I knew, he held me in his chest and placed his head on top of mine. In short, niyakap niya ako. And hell, I couldn't even breathe properly at the moment.
"I'm not the only man, remember that." He whispers. Hindi ko naintindihan pero napangiti nalang ako.
In that state, I couldn't feel his heart beating rapidly, it was mine. Parang may meaning yung mga sinasabi niya ngayon.
I didn't know if it was just me or I feel like everything was made up. Parang pinalano talaga ang lahat, katulad ng sinabi ko noon.
His smiles... it was like his lips were forming a curve while his eyes had no emotions.
He seemed happy, and I don't know if he was really happy.. or not.
Nagthumbs up pa siya sakin na ikinabaliw ko. But he was wearing his smile with emotionless eyes.
Hindi ko alam kung napapansin ng iba, but when he hugged me, I felt that it was something I couldn't explain.
Parang alam na niya na yayakapin niya ako,
Parang alam na niya na may sasabihin ako sa kanya.
At hindi ko alam pero bakit ba ganon yung nararamdaman ko?
I just hope that it only happens in fictional stories.

And una kong nakasayaw ay ang pinsan kong si Drew. He was this twenty-three-year old guy in college na naging close ko noon nung naglalaro pa kami ng lego blocks.
"How's my cousin?" He asks.
"Oks lang." Ngumiti ako.
Bigla syang sumimangot. "What was the feeling of one-sided love then?" Napalaki ang aking mata.
"Drew!" Pinalo ko ang kanyang balikat. "Paano-"
Bago ko man sagutin yung tanong niya, inunahan niya ako kaagad. "Ko nalaman? Man, I know what it looks like." He said. "I'm five years older than you so I've been through half of the problems in life."
"I don't wanna talk about it, Drew." Napabaling ang aking tingin sa ibang direksyon.
"But just one thing." Bigla niyang habol. "If you think that things are right for you, the next thing you knew, it just appears wrong."
"I'm doing what needs to be done. Ayaw kong magsisi."
Drew smiled. "Just.. don't regret thinking you shouldn't have done it, regret why you didn't gave yourself a chance."
"What chance?" Tanong ko, pero umiling nalang siya.
Pinagpatuloy namin ang pagsasayaw hanggang sa nagpalitan na ng partner. Naging kasayaw ko yung ibang mga pinsan ko dahil nga wala akong kapatid. It was either my cousin whom I'm super close with or the cousin whom I've been telling 'hi' in family gatherings and meetings.
"Honestly, you look like a thirteen-year old trying to be eighteen." Said the amazing Brett.
"I didn't ask for your opinion."
"You gained a year but you're still that girl with glasses who likes the boy next door." He gave me a hideous smile that made me wanted to laugh. "But tell me, for the last time, are you sure about what you're going to do?"
Bigla akong napasimangot. I loosened my grip from his nape and started to place my hand on his shoulder. Here it is again.
"Hindi ko alam kung anong gusto mo, pero none of you could stop me." Sagot ko.
He started to pull me closer to his chest at mas lalong sumikip yung kapit niya sa bewang ko. "Anong ginagawa mo?" Bulong ko.
"Enjoy how close I am, one day, you'll knock on my door, teary-eyed because I know you'll never change when that time comes."
"Drama mo. Itigil mo na nga yung pinagsasabi mo."
"Parang kanina galit ka sakin ha?"
"Kanina lang yon. And birthday ko ngayon so please once and for all... just stop."
He smiled. "As you wish." Brett started to dance as I followed him, making sure that I won't step on his foot. Hindi narin sya nagsalita.
