Dinner.

Everything happens for a reason. I believe in that, really. I thought it was the most unnecessary thing a person would say but no.

Maybe it depends on the timing of anything that happens. If it happened for a reason, there will always be an exact timing every time it goes again and again, or maybe not.

"Are you coming this Saturday?" Tanong sa akin ni Denisse. She held the upper part of her hair and took one of my ponytails to tie it. Hindi sa pagiging isip-bata pero, it turns out that I still like those kind of stuff.

"Pag-iisipan ko pa." She looked at me like a kid whom her parents didn't buy what she wanted.

She's the kind of girl who seems to invite half of the school to her birthday or any other celebrations. Well, my parents kinda do that too.

I rolled my eyes at her. Totoo naman kasi. Kahit hindi naman niya ka-close yung mga nandoon, she can make up a great conversation with them compared to me, who gladly speaks up for books for the rest of the time.

I crossed my arms and laid on my bed.

"So kapag si Kayden gusto mo?" It was like she was teasing me or something with that naughty-like eyes.

I flip my body to face the bed, in short, dumapa ako sa kama. "Wala akong sinabi."

"Wala.

It just feels so good after knowing something that makes you happy.

The next day came in and it was Friday, I still haven't decided if I should go this Saturday for that freaking party. Denisse kept on asking me my answer, so I told her it depends on the timing.

I held my hands and rubbed them together after feeling the cold thin air of the night. Hugging my body because I wore a sweater, it made me feel warm and just right before taking a hop out of our house.

I didn't want to go to my balcony because I knew I would start staring at his window. Even if he wasn't there, I would still do it. I would still wait if Kayden would surprisingly go out and look up at the stars just like me.

I was about to step out when I heard some noise. I hid by the walls and tiptoed to where it is.

"Watch it!"

He placed his hand on my mouth to cover it. I was about to push him away but he also raised his index finger up to his lips, signaling to make me quiet. May narinig akong mga tumatakbong lalaki.

"Don't tell me you lost him?" A man with a deep voice asked.

"He's just here somewhere." Another guy said.

They started to run again when I heard them dashing against the cold hard ground with their shoes. They seemed to be so scary.

"Anong ginagawa mo dito Brett?"

"Isn't it obvious?" He even rolled his eyes at me!

"Eh sino yung mga yon? Mas malaki pa yung boses nila kesa sayo a!" He sighed and looked at me straightly.

"He thought I stole his girlfriend. My face formed an expression where I was about to laugh. "I'm not joking. I'm serious."

"Hahahahaha! Yan, landi mo e."

"Pupunta ka ba bukas." He changed the topic.

"Bakit?" I asked him.

"Tinatanong ni Denisse." My eyes shone in boredom.

"Depende. Pagiisipan ko pa." Sagot ko nalang sa kanya.

"Okay. Hope to not see you there." He started to walk pass me and go back to their house.

I didn't know if I was sure but I saw hurt in his eyes before he left. Was he tired by running away from those guys?

"Aba't baka nakakalimutan mong Sabado ngayon?" Napamewang siya sa harapan ko.

"Hindi."

"Anong 'hindi'?" Tanong ulit niya.

Sabi niya, but I still kept on scrolling down.

"I even heard that Greg will be there." She said but something suddenly popped up on my phone. It was a message from an unknown number.

Hey. Mom wanted to invite you for dinner.

Napairap ako. Si Brett na naman. Tita never does this kind of invitations for dinner dahil minsan lang sila umuuwi ni tito.

Oh really? Bago na naman yung number mo?

He quickly replied

What? Oh, this is Kayden.

Nanlaki ang aking mga mata. "Oh. My. God." I said, surprisingly coming out of my mouth.

"I know right? Greg is really coming!" "What's with the smile?" She asks.

I pouted and hugged her real tight. "I can't go this night. I have somewhere else to go." She held my shoulders with her eyes shouting the words 'what the hell?'

"What the hell just happened?" Tanong niya.

Ngumiti ako ng malapad. "Kayden's mom invited me for dinner!"

Her face went blank. "Seriously Catty, If you're going to tell me something, make sure it's believable."

Her jaw literally dropped.

"Yeah. I thought so too." I mumbled and started hopping all around the room before going inside my walk in closet.

"Where the hell did he get your number?" She shouted while sitting on my bed.

I took a random cute dress and placed the hanger on my shoulder, seeing if it looks good.

"I don't know." I shrugged. "Does this look appreciating?" I asked.

She rolled her eyes as I laughed at her reaction.

I was really excited for the dinner. And the thing is, I haven't texted back yet.

I'm really okay.
