Broken Births

"Arrgghhh!"

"We have to do this now! Her labor has already been induced."

"No wait! I'm only 7 months my baby isn't ready!" I panicked and Clarence held my hand in total shock of what was going on

They stuck me to get an IV, after multiple attempts they finally got it in. My mind was all over the place because so many things were happening at once. In the midst of all the commotion I prayed that my baby would live.

"Don't let my baby die." I said looking up to Clarence

He looked down at me with soft eyes and kissed my forehead. My eyes closed as the doctor ran by my side.

I came back and now Clarence was in scrubs and my legs were propped up as if I was ready to push.

"Okay mommy, on this upcoming contraction i'm going to need a big push okay? Daddy I want you hold her hand and distract her from every negative thought she is thinking right now."

"Your baby is going to survive." She said looking in my eyes making me nod my head

"Right here---- right here BIG push!" I started with a hard push and Clarence made sure to hold my hand through it

"You doing good baby." He said kissing my hand

I pushed on the next contraction and I felt the crowning happen and soon she announced that she seen the head. I peeped Clarence looking to see what was happening and I knew he couldn't handle it.

"Uh Uhhh look up here I ain't got time for you to be passing out! I need you up and awake." I brought his attention back to me and then I had to push again

I felt trickles of sweat drip from my face as I yelled as I pushed, for baby's life.

"Last one here the baby is!"

"Come on baby last one..."

"ARRRGHHH!" I pushed hard as I could and then little timid cries followed

"Its a boy!" They announced quickly cleaning him, I smiled and I felt myself slipping away as the doctor moved quickly to hook my baby up to tubes and IVs

"HEYY! WE LOSING HER, WE LOSING MY BABY!" Clarence yelling was the last thing I heard

My eyes fluttered and Clarence sat across me with wet eyes. I looked around noticing we were in a bigger room and I looked down to see my belly now flat.

"Baby?" I called out and he quickly he looked over at me

He got up and got in bed with me holding me close and he pulled me into him as he sobbed lightly. My heart ached because I barely seen Clarence cry.

"Its okay baby, I'm here."

"I--I thought I lost y'all both." He said holding me closer now and all I could do was hold him letting him know I was okay
