Lurking in the Shadows

I know you are there I hear your heart beat

And the dragging sound of your crippled feet

You are always watching lurking in the shadows

Why is it me that you chose to follow

-

a shiver runs down my spine as your tainted eyes bore into my soul

under your powerful traumatizing gaze my spirit will not fold

the bent and bowed finger that you are aiming at me

it is trying to show me something that I can not see

-

you slowly grin at me flashing your yellow gaped pointy teeth

I taking a step back and trip stumbling over the sight before me

your body started to shake as my fear began to show

I knew it was laughter as the noise began to flow

-

when you laugh your hood fell off and I get a good look

your eyes are black and hollow, in your brow a rusty hook

your nose is long and bony, your lips snarling in the curves

I swallow the lump in my throat and fright back my nerves

-

I take a step closer and your eyes widen in surprise

it is then that I see what it is you are trying to hide

I smile and ask "Tell me creature I have to know

why do you lurk in the shadows watching me so?"
