A/N: Literally love Tom Riddle and I've finally written for him. I hope you enjoy!  :)

__________
Tom is working in Borgin and Burkes and meets a pretty costumer.
__________

Tom's head was resting idly in his hand while his mind thrummed with thoughts. Currently, he was standing at the counter of Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley. Not many people (unless they adored the Dark Arts) visited the shop in the first place. Only the heir of Salazar Slytherin himself saw use of the small shop. Despite what people thought, Tom was quite manipulative in persuading people to part with their magical heirlooms for a low price. He might've been wasted on such a job yet he found an adoration for it. From this small work place he found an apartment in Hogsmead and lived quite a quiet life, or what he considered a quiet life of studying Hocruxes.

This day however, wasn't so silent as the bell above the shop door sounded. Over the packed shelves of dark objects and heirlooms, Tom wasn't able to capture the person walking through the dark, narrow aisles. For some reason, he was intrigued by this rare costumer. Tom even found himself raising onto his toes and leaning to and fro to catch a glimpse.

On the other side of the shelf was a beautiful girl around his age, her (H/C) hair was pinned up, curly and short while her dress was a huge contradiction to her dismal surroundings. She wore white against the black and brown backdrop of Borgin and Burkes. Indeed (Y/N) (L/N) was a foreign being in Knockturn Alley but, her presence wasn't frowned upon. In fact, (Y/N) was a regular at each shop except this one. On this day, she had entered the shop to trade a necklace passed down to each girl named (Y/N) in her family. Such a strange tradition it was but it could never be continued. (Y/N) was an only child and had no intention of having children. And in the end, it was her piece, she could whatever she wanted with the necklace. Plus, with being an orphan of her age (Y/N) had to survive in her own.

After wafting through the packed shelves, finally (Y/N) approached the counter to see a rather handsome man. He had curls of dark, brown hair atop his head and the brightest blue eyes. They were like the coldest ice as the bore into her approaching form. She had to say, she never expected someone like him in a place like Knockturn Alley, but what could she say?
(Y/N) was anything but a hypocrite.

"Good afternoon" she greeted with a tight-lipped smile, her features bright against those shining (E/C) orbs. Tom couldn't even answer her as he assessed every inch of her form. He simply left her waiting for a reply as he unconsciously gulped down his interest.

"Excuse me?" (Y/N) went on to question, ultimately snapping Tom from his daze and toward the red, leather bound box on the counter.

"Ah, yes, sorry-" he quickly quipped back,
"- you just reminded me of someone".

"Loads of people seem to say that" a lie.

"So, what have we got here Miss...?".

"(L/N) but you can call me (Y/N). And I was hoping to sell a family heirloom of mine".

Tom's lips curled into a smile at her announcement. Another thing to sell, more money to gain, someone else to manipulate-

Tom looked up from the box. She was just there, swivelling slightly from left to right. With that, that skirt of her's expanded around her and her locks of hair seemed to bounce. She looked adorable... But, since when did Lord Voldemort use the word adorable?

"What is it?" He coughed out the question.

"Well, it's a necklace-" (Y/N) began before opening the box, "- with a simple silver chain but the beauty is in what hangs from the chain. It's green jade and is rumoured to bring luck, to whoever wears it, just like Felix Felicis".

(Y/N) spoke with such passion as she gently pulled the necklace from its box and allowed Tom to hold it securely in his wide palm.

"How much are you hoping for it?" Tom asked, his eyes flickering from the jade and her eyes.

"Whatever it is worth. But, I need at least a few galleons to pay for next months rent" (Y/N) informed.

She may have been a Pureblood and from a quite rich family. Yet that was all in the past, now she was alone and barely surviving on what she had. For a moment, Tom contemplated his plan of strategy. Of course he couldn't just be fair to her because she batted those long, raven lashes or had those deep, attractive eyes. He couldn't just be fair because she was so...

The Dark Lord feared to say.

"It's quite beautiful, I wouldn't expect giving you less than fifty galleons".

(Y/N)'s eyebrows rose at the price. It was good, but not good enough. She hadn't feared something more than this deal.

"Is there any way the price could be risen?"
(Y/N) questioned nervously as she played with the hem of her dress. Tom could sense her disappointment from a mile away...
So the young Voldemort sighed and peeled his eyes open from their closed state.

"Didn't you say it was passed down?".

(Y/N) didn't but she had feeling that she best not correct him.

"Yes, since the Goblin rebellion" she said, her voice full of undiluted hope as she peered up at Tom for one last time before closing her eyes tight.

"Then of course the price should be doubled" he announced in a false grandness. It even made (Y/N) giggle as Tom placed the jade necklace carefully back into its box.

He adored that sounded escaping her lips, her laughter could ring throughout his thoughts and he would never tire of the noise. Therefore, the young Dark Lord wrote the cheque for a hundred galleons oh-so slowly as (Y/N) leaned in idly against the counter. The girl was suddenly so close to him he could practically smell the soft perfume accenting her natural aroma. Was he obsessed? Of course he couldn't love but he could still desire. And this is what this was.

"Well, I hope I will be seeing you soon, Miss (L/N)" Tom announced as he reluctantly passed the cheque from his grip to her own.

"Of course. I am quite the regular here in Knockturn. It wouldn't be a surprise if we bumped into each other".

"Until then" he smirked, his expression dark yet alluring. That's when (Y/N) knew why such a beautiful man worked in such a place.

"Yes, until then...",

"Tom, Tom Riddle".

"Until then Mr Riddle... I'll be waiting until our next meeting. With quite an anticipation".

With that, the bell above the door sounded once again and filled Tom with a foreign emotion.

He couldn't wait to see her again.
