Chapter 44

Shadow narrowed his eyes at the opening door of his bedroom. He had been there for hours,just thinking with his leg crossed

"S-sir,your father wishes for your presence in his office"A maid said

Not wanting to make an eye contact with him. He already looked intimidating to her and don't want to get I to trouble,as that what she thinks

"Why?"He said with the same deep tone of her voice

"S-sorry b-but I d-don't know sir"The timid maid mentally whimpered,fearing Shadow might tell at her

Shadow noticed this. He sighed and shook his head

"It's fine. Thanks for telling anyway"He stood up and walked passed to the maid

He walked into his father's office,knocking,then getting a "come in" from inside. Shadow slowly opened the door. The room was messy,which wasn't surprising Shadow. His father,a busy man. Of course,he expect a messy office

"Why do you call me?"He asked

"I'm not going to be here in the country for two months,"

Shadow hummed,signaling for his Father to continue

"And so,I don't want to hear any complains from the principal about you. The principal told me you'll be the president of the student council an-"

"Wait,what?!"

"Yes. You are. So,please,act as what is your position. Not being such troublemaker"Doom cringed

Shadow felt a sting into his heart

"I expect a good behavior from you. I call you here,just to remind you to behave. I have so many things to work on our company. And when I'm out of the country,I don't want to think that you are causing so much cussing here while I'm gone. It gives me headache. I want to focus on work,not on something unimportant"Doom said

"Anything else?"Shadow said,trying his best not to let his voice crack

"No. You can get out"Doom said

Doom's harsh words pained him

Unimportant,useless, troublemaker,stupid, delinquent

That's the words he always hear from his Father. He wiped his tears and walked back to his room thinking of a quick shower

When he's done,he sat on his bed,looking blankly at the wall. Everything was so quiet,not until he heard a knocking from the door. He rolled his eyes

"Wha-"

"Shadow"His cousin showed up

He face palmed. Which Mephiles just grinned into

"You always come to my room"He said

"I've been feeling lonely into my room. I don't find any entertainment. And so I come here"He shrugged

"I'm not going to entertain you"

He knows to well what this 'entertain' means. Him being annoyed or irritated, that's Mephiles' entertainment. He started to think that his cousin is weird

Mephiles just chuckled before he sat beside Shadow,tapping his shoulder

"You alright?"Mephiles narrowed his eyes at his cousin,who's eyes are showing mixed emotions and such

No. I'm unimportant,useless,ashamed,in pain,hurt,in agony,I'm nothing to my father but a piece of filth. I want to cry so badly,but he'll only think I'm such a weakling. Stupid he call me. Pointless living he called me. I want to make him proud,but I'm still unnoticed. I want to feel loved and care from my father,but he detests me. I want to tell you everything Mephiles,you are the only shoulder I can lean on,no one else. But I just can't... father's right,I'm a weakling

"I'm fine" Shadow smiled
