Chapter 32

"Collecting insects sucks"Knuckles complained

Sonic,Knuckles and Tails were partners for their another project in Science

"Look!I think this mantis looks unique"Tails said before putting the said insect in the jar

"Every insects looks the same for me!"Knuckles laughed

The two chuckled

"This should be by group,but I decided to take the individual option"A familiar voice said making the three stop on what they are doing,instead,listen to the voice talking

"Very well then. So what's your project?Creating insects and describing them?"Another voice asked

"Yeah"

The three heard the two familiar voice getting closer. They waited. Unexpected to Sonic,the two familiar voice belong to Shadow and Mephiles who was now shown,but they haven't noticed Sonic and the other two. When Shadow looked over his shoulder,that's when he found Sonic

"Is this fi-"Mephiles looked at his cousin

"Hey!"He elbowed Shadow

"What?"Shadow grunted

"Who are you looking at?"Mephiles asked

Sonic turned his head on the other way, pretending not to see them

"Did you find an insect?"Mephiles continued to ask

Mephiles looked at Shadow's direction,seeing a blue hedgehog. Mephiles smirked

"Do you like him?"He whispered

"What the fuck!"Shadow exclaimed

"Of course not"Shadow rolled his eyes

Shadow saw Mephiles approaching Sonic, Shadow's eyes widened and hastily made his way to stop from whatever Mephiles will be doing

"The hell are you doing?"Shadow asked

"Saying 'hi'. I honestly want some help from him,them I mean. He looks smart anyway"Mephiles said noticing the other two

"But I don't want to"Shadow said

"Oh!I notice him,he's from your school too right?I saw him yesterday at the acquaintance party"Mephiles said as realization hit him

"Hey uh..."Mephiles greeted him awkwardly

Sonic looked at him

"I....I mean we need some help from collecting insects. Mind if you help us?"Mephiles politely asked

Sonic nodded

"Sure"Sonic smiled

"Bastard"Shadow whispered

When Sonic looked at him,Shadow raised a brow. Sonic shook his head. Shadow noticed him having glasses,he snickered

"The hell?"Mephiles said noticing Shadow snickering for an unknown reason

"Forget it"Shadow said

- After Collecting Enough Insects -

Shadow was holding the jar full of insects. Enough for him to start his project. It was getting dark. Tails and Knuckles had left them,but apologized. Knuckles' reason was because he wasn't comfortable with Shadow's presence,but he offered Sonic to go with him,of course,Sonic refused. As for Tails,his mother called him on phone. As for now,Sonic was also uncomfortable with them,not with Mephiles,but with Shadow

"This is enough"Mephiles said looking at the jar

"Thank you for helping"Mephiles said

"You're welcome"Sonic replied

Suddenly,Mephiles' phone had ring

"From your father"He whispered before walking away leaving the two

Shadow,on the other hand,wasn't showing how angry he is. His mind full of vulgar insults and curses because of his cousin leaving him alone with his most hated person in school

"Uhh...Sh-Shadow  I g-gotta go home..."Sonic said looking at the ground

Shadow just nodded. Before Sonic walked away,Shadow grabbed his hand. Sonic looked at him nervously,his mind full of thoughts by what will Shadow do to him. But seeing Shadow's calm expression told him otherwise he won't do anything

"Let me walk you home. Since you help me here"Shadow said

As much as Shadow hate this,he had to do it. Why? He felt like he had to give back the favor Sonic did to him. It was like debt for him

Sonic nodded,and of course, he's surprised

When they walked together, Shadow wasn't surprised that he didn't see Mephiles on their way. He know his father needs him immediately. When they reached Sonic's house,Sonic awkwardly looked at him

"Th-thanks for walking me home"Sonic said

But Shadow felt what he did wasn't enough to pay his debt

"You're welcome. Thank you too for helping me out on this project"Shadow said his voice laced with sincerity

Sonic's eyes widened,but smiled anyway before walking inside their home
