Finn immediately rounded on Burt. "Why didn't you tell me about that?!"

"And when did you plan on telling me?" Kurt asked furiously.

"I didn't want to freak you out while you were here, I knew you wouldn't come back. Or at least I thought I knew. How did you find out?"

"What if I went out alone, huh? What if I ran into him?" In Kurt's tone they could hear an attempt to suppress what was pure fear. They could hear how much Karofsky truly scared him.

"Kurt, I-"

"You what? You'd make sure I didn't go out alone? What if I didn't ask, what if I went on run or to get something from the store?"

"I didn't want to see the look on your face when I told you! The look that's on it right now, it kills me. I hate to see you scared. You're never here, I'd just tell you when you came back for the summer."

Kurt had so many things to say to that that he couldn't speak. He sat back down in his chair, tangling his fingers through his hair in frustration and fear.

Burt muttered something about making dinner and he and Finn left.

Sebastian, who had been standing awkwardly, moved over next to Kurt. "Kurt? Is this why you've been acting different lately?" he asked cautiously.

"I'm scared, Sebastian," Kurt said quietly, tears running down his face. Being back in Lima just made it that much more real.

"We can go back, if it's too much for you to be here," Sebastian offered.

Kurt nodded. "Yeah, that might be a good idea. It's just so..."

"You don't have to explain yourself, Kurt. They'll understand," he said softly.
