"I can't believe this", Raph said and shook his head.
Both of your were watching TV and since it was Black History Month you wanted Raphael to see a bit about your culture. But this didn't go as planned. They currently stopped the documentary to report about yet another black boy being shot down for simply being black.
"What the fuck is wrong with them? They're supposed to be our friends? Isn't that what Leo always preaches? "The police is our friend?" Fuck this", Raph yelled and got up to get a closer look at the TV, "that guy was unarmed for fucks sake!"
While your boyfriend was bursting out, you were just sitting there, knees to your chest and holding back the tears. Raph was too worked up to notice it but as soon as he turned around his face switched from anger to fear.
"Are you okay baby?", he asked.
You just shrugged. You were too sad, disappointed and shocked to say anything. Raph quickly sat next to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder. His plastron was soft and hearing his heartbeat helped you calm down a little.
"I'm so sorry", he said.
"It's not your fault. It's mine. Ours. The fact that they we have the "wrong" skin color", you sobbed.
"Stop that right now", he said.
He held you a bit closer.
"I might not often read or see the news but I know that a lot of people are currently working on getting rid of the prejudices and racists", he explained, "and as long as I live I will help as well!"
"Really?", you asked and look up to him.
"I will not let this happen to you, just so you know. If I ever hear anyone making a stupid comment they'll be dead", he assured you.
"Okay, killing them might be a biiiiiiit too much", you said.
"Well then I'd scare them", he answered.
You smiled. He might be a bit aggressive sometimes (never to you but still) but he still had a good heart. And you loved him for that.
