A Memory Away

24| Peace

"You good over there?" I heard Ashton's voice call out for me, making me zone back in. 

I looked at him and saw him gazing back. I gave him a smile which indicated I was doing just fine. So, be nodded before reaching out to hold my hand.

As if he stored voltage, I felt little electric shocks with the contact. Regardless of that, it indeed sparked me up inside.

I stared down at our intertwined hands and couldn't help but feel my heart dance with contentment. But of course, I played it out just fine and cool.

"So, how long is it gonna take us to get there?" I asked impatiently as if we've been driving for hours while trying not to smile too hard. Although, about 15 minutes have only passed throughout the drive.

He tilted his head to the side as if he was calculating the time. "Maybe two hours," he concluded.

My eyes widen with disbelief. "Two hours?!"

"I know, I know!" he defended hopelessly. "But it's all worth it, trust me."

I frowned. "Can you at least tell me where we're heading?"

"And ruin the surprise? I think not!"

I let out an exhausting sigh. "Okay, fine! But if I get sick, I'm going to throw up on you."

"You just have to make me regret coming up with this whole trip."

I pulled my tongue out and mocked him, making him chuckle. And for a couple of minutes after that, the ride became quiet with only the sound of the low music roaming around. So, I turned my head back to my window and continued gazing out.

By now, there were fewer people and buildings, more empty roads. It was also starting to get dark.

"Hey, I just remembered something," all of a sudden I heard at which I instantly turned around to give my attention to Ashton. Yet that was when I saw a big black car far away from the left lane driving a bit too fast towards us.

I watched it with furrowed eyebrows as it comes closer and closer. And when it didn't stop, I found myself panicking.

"Ashton watch out!" I yelled and pointed out. But before he can do something or even glance in that direction, the car crashed at us.

I felt as our car jump off from the ground and flip a couple of times in the air. I was flying in my seat and at that moment I figured I'd be out the front glass at any second. However, little did I know, I felt myself being snatched away. 

My eyes were shut firmly and my body was crouched all together in caution. But suddenly, I no longer felt turning around. Rather still and carried.

There were arms tightened around me and held me safely. When I got enough courage, I opened my eyes slowly only to see a pair of big brown eyes looking back at me.

With the sun setting down and giving a goddess-like filter, his skin glowed. His messy hair was scattered around and wiggling due to the wind while his eyes stared down at me with sympathy and care. I felt safe just back looking back. 

"What's going on?" I asked him dumbfounded. And when I looked around, I saw Ashton's car upside down on the ground while a fire catching up on top of it.

Is he still in there?

"No harm will ever touch you again as long as I breathe." I heard him speak which made me look back up at him with confusion.

My eyebrows furrowed while my eyes became blurry. "What do you mean?! Ashton's dead!" I yelled feeling my heart sinking and my body slowly becoming numb.

"I promise you," he stated.

And just like that, my world went black.

I opened my eyes slowly only to see a bright light coming directly at me from the small window in front of me. I kept hearing disturbing beeping noises and when I followed the sound, I found my alarm clock.

7:31 a.m. I read.

I stretched my arm lazily and annoyingly hit the clock to stop. And once it did, I heard nothing but peace.

I let out a breath as I stare straight at the ceiling. Yet, I couldn't help but feel a tear slip down my left eye.

Not long after my senses came crashing back, my eyes scanned around my surroundings only to see that I was in my dorm. That was when I realized that I was having yet another nightmare.

A headache too.

It wasn't like my dreams were getting any better, but weirder too. I was confused about why this time, Sebastian and Ashton were on it.

And why it got deep into me...

As if things couldn't get any more awkward with the three of us.

I groaned and turned around so that I was a face full of the pillow. My body was crying out of pain and tiredness, I didn't feel like moving any more inch. All I wanted was to go back to sleep.

Yet before I can drift away, it hit me.

I'm late!

I am exhausted!! This chapter took me forever to finish! I hope you're pleased Rokaya!

Anyway, I bet you're all confused. Just to clear the air, it was all a dream.
