After the incident with Starscream and Soundwave, the Autobots were more desperate than ever. Or, rather, Optimus Prime was more worried.

That human child, in the hands of the Decepticons?

An innocent human girl that held no ties with Cybertronians or their war, was in the grasp of Megatron. There would be no mercy. If Megatron felt she was useless, the girl would be terminated. If she hadn't already been so.

It seemed, at times, Optimus' spark was bigger than he could handle. On top of the lack of energon, he was scrambling around his usual responsibilities to find everything he could about the girl taken prisoner by Megatrons third in command.

Miko rolled her eyes when Optimus questioned her about the girl. "Dude, I can't tell you what I know if I haven't seen her before." The sassy remark made Bulkhead cringe as she sat atop his shoulder, and his optics silently apologized to Optimus for Miko's behavior.

"Host family problems." He tried to explain later, when Miko returned home. She had slammed his door so hard it made Bulkhead jump in his alt mode. Then she proceeded to stomp all the way to her front door and slam that as well.

Guilt was eating away at Bulkheads spark. He knew that the work for the past week Optimus had assigned the team, along with the search for the girl, had pulled him from his charge.

Miko was going through enough already and he couldn't be there for her.

Optimus nodded in understanding, but part of his processor was elsewhere as he stared off into the distance, thinking over the work he had yet to do. The last Omega key had yet to be found.

Later that night, Ratchet approached his leader cautiously. He almost flinched when Optimus turned towards him. If it were possible, he would have had bags under his optics.

"I think you need to recharge, Optimus." Ratchet began slowly.

Optimus ignored his old friend and kept his optics locked into the screen. Again, Ratchet pushed, a small growl evident in his voice.

"You do not know how hard it is for me to tend for you when you are being such a pain in my aft."

Optimus stopped then, partially surprised at the medics behavior. But he shook it off. "I need to get it done before the Decepticons. It is of upmost importance. You know this. We cannot let them win."

Ratchet sighed and rubbed his hand over his face platings. "I understand, Optimus. But please just recharge. Just for a little while."

For a moment, in a moment of weakness Optimus turned his healm and considered this. He was tired. Every part of him felt as if it were rusted or simply twisted off. His processor was so jumbled it was making his healm work.

"No." He finally decided.

Ratchet turned and shook his healm. "Then I am sorry for this, Optimus."

Optimus raised an optic ridge, but before he could question him, Ratchet had already given him the sedative.

Optimus grunted as sleep finally began to pull at him. His optics dropped, and his knees buckled. Ratchet grunted when his leaders weight fully landed in his arms, but managed to drag him towards his berthroom, which he had already prepared.

A sad smile covered his face platings as he watched Optimus have his first peaceful recharge in months.
