Sofie's POV

i haven't talked to either of my parents since last night. I know that I shouldn't be pissed at them because of this whole 'Sam is your twin' ordeal. The thing that really pissed me off though is that they suddenly decided to tell me, after 17 years, that I have a sister, a freaking twin sister. they never thought to mention that earlier. and that isn't the type of news you just drop on someone

i walked downstairs to get some breakfast before I get ready for school since I woke up an hour before my alarm clock went off. and Lauren is still upstairs sleeping like a bulldozer

i walked into the kitchen to find my mom leaning on the counter sipping on her coffee

" good morning sweetie" she said once she saw me enter

" morning" i said in a small voice

"you're still angry at us?" she asked me and that was one i looked up at her face. she looked like she hasn't got a minute of sleep last night, and she had some sad smile on her face.

that's the thing about my mom, no matter if she's sad or happy or excited or whatever she always has some smile on her face. it's a seriously rare occasion to see my mom with no smile on her face.

" haven't you slept at all last night?" i asked her ignoring her question

" no I wasn't able to sleep. Dave wasn't either but he fell asleep about an hour ago and I thought I'd let him rest" she said running her hand through her hair

" this whole sam thing is really getting to you huh?" i asked her smiling sadly putting a hand on her shoulder

" it has been ever since the day we lost her Sofie" she said with a sigh, and I think, no I'm sure, that this was the saddest I've ever seen my mom be

" if you seriously believe she's your daughter you should be glad that atleast you know she's been living a good life mom" i told my mom in a soft voice, trying to comfort her

" well yeah, that was a relief. I've spent 17 years of my life worrying where she could be, if she was fine or not, if she had a roof over her head and food to eat. it was a nightmare" my mom said sighing a sigh of relief this time

"Sofie I need you and Lauren to do something for me. and I need you to not freak out and try to listen to me, alright?" my mom said looking into my eyes with a serious expression

oh i really dont like where this is going

" what do you need mom?"i asked

" i need you to go to Sam's house. sit with her parents, try to talk to them about the first 2 months of her life, maybe even ask to see her baby pictures but without making them suspicious. and come tell me how that went" my mom said scratching the back of her neck. it's a nervous habit we both share

" you're kidding, right?" i asked my mom with a look of disbelieve

" Sofie do you want a proof that she's your sister or not?!" my mom asked again with the serious face. which is something rare

" yes but not by questioning her parents! they're going to know that something seems suspicious and -" i was cut off by a groaning Lauren entering the kitchen

" Seriously? its too early for arguments guys" She said rubbing her eyes sleepily

" good morning sweetie, we're not arguing Sofie is just being too stubborn" my mom told Lauren, a small smile back on her face

" mommy wants me to go to Sam's house and interrogate her parents" i said with a sweet fake tone

" Sarah have you not slept at all last night? " Lauren asked my mom ignoring what I just said
