Avery was so focused on her homework that when the scream happened, a small one left her own throat out of panic. When a second one followed, the frantic blonde raced out of bed and out of her room and sprinted towards the living room. Nami was the only other person in the place ann Avery was terrified at the possibilities that caused her to scream like that.

Nami was pacing around the kitchen while she stared down at phone in her hands. "No, no, no, no, no,"

"What's wrong?" Avery asked. Things were still spotty between them but she wanted to make sure her friend was okay. Nami looked up at Avery and she shook her head.

"My mom is coming into town." Her eyes welled up with tears and Avery gasped. Anyone who didn't know Nami's mother would find Nami's actions dramatic and unnecessary. However, Avery knew Nami's mother way too well.

"What?" Avery asked but Nami simply nodded. "How did this happen?"

"I haven't been paying attention to our conversations. She's asked me a few times what my plans were for this weekend and I've casually answered nothing." Nami placed her hands on her head and Avery covered her mouth.

Nami is always careful when it comes to her mother. Making sure that if Lauren Oh comes to visit her, it is on Nami's time and it's for a very short amount of time. Anything else will cause chaos between the mother and daughter.

Nami looked up at Avery and she let out a sigh. "I know this is a lot to ask but can we put our differences aside and deal with my mother?"

Avery gave her first real smile in a while and she nodded. Nami let out a sigh and the two women hugged.

"How long do we have?" Avery asked.

"Only two hours," Nami whined and Avery ran her hands down her face.

"Okay, here's what we'll do." Avery nodded.

"We're going to clean the place as best as we can in one hour. Then we're going to shower and make ourself presentable before we smoke a joint to deal with her."

"We are not smoking pot," Nami shook her head and Avery rose an eyebrow at her.

"You want to deal with your mom sober?"

"Hell no," Nami gleaned and with a nod, the two set out to prepare for Lauren Oh.

"Mother," Nami opened the door while Avery waited in the background.

"You need a haircut," was Mrs. Oh's first words as she hugged her daughter. "Doesn't she need a haircut Peter?"

At the name Peter, Avery sucked in a breath. She had prepared for Nami's mother, not father too.

Dr. Peter Oh is nowhere near as expressive as his wife. He's quiet and observant, only speaks when he is spoken to or he needs to address something. That freaks the hell out out of Avery. Why didn't Nami warn her that he was coming too?
