"Do you wanna go find him?"

"I want to explore," Anna replied and Avery couldn't help but smile. The glint of excitement sparkles and Avery nodded before looking at the watch on her wrist. Twenty five minutes before her shift started, twenty minutes exploring with Anna and five minutes to get ready for work.

"Where would you like to explore?" Avery asked and Anna grinned before turning on her heels.

"Let's go outside," she ordered and Avery followed quickly behind.

In his office, Ian was explaining the dress code to Eli when the the younger brother frowned at the sight outside his brother's office window.

"What the hell is Annabelle doing outside?" He asked and Ian quickly turned to face his window. In the distance on the golf course, Anna was running around while Avery chased her. Her laughter couldn't be heard from this distance but it could be seen. Seeing Avery, the panick left Ian and he deflated into his chair and a small smile took on his face.

"She's with Ry, she's fine."

"Right," Eli nodded sarcastically and Ian turned to face his brother.

"What?"

"You trust this girl way too much man,"

"What are you talking about?" Ian frowned and Eli rolled his eyes at the oblivion evident in his brother's eyes.

"I'm talking about how you barely know this girl and you're already trusting her with Anna."

"I know plenty about Avery, besides, shes right in our line of sight." Ian pointed out

"You knew a five year old girl when you were seven, she's a grown adult and you know nothing about her." Eli corrected and Ian looked up at him.

"What's the matter with you? What happened to your accepting and kind personality?"

"What happened to your careful and analyzing one?" Elijah shot back and Ian blinked at him.

"I was looking at her file, she has a criminal record?" Eli rose an eyebrow at his brother. "Yet, you're so comfortable with her around Annabelle."

Ian stared at his brother in silence. There was nothing he could say that wouldn't sound irresponsible. Elijah was right, Ian had allowed Avery into his and Annabelle's life too easily. He was comfortable around her because she was a childhood friend. But he knew nothing about who she was now.

"You're right," Ian nodded. "I'm being a bit careless."

"Just a bit," Eli nodded before looking over Ian's he's and out the window at Annabelle and Avery sitting on the grass.

"I'm going to do a little investigation," Eli stood up from his chair and Ian frowned before looking out the large window.

"Because, I'm a new face and I haven't introduced myself yet as her new boss. If I ask her about the things on her file, it would seem routined. You however, would be suspicious." Elijah explained and Ian wanted to protest but he knew his brother was right.

"Fine, but I don't think you'll find anything." Ian said and Eli grabbed the handle of the door.

"We'll see,"

Elijah pulled up to the girls sitting crisscrossed on the grass and placed the golf car in park. Annabelle peeled her eyes opened and she smiled at her uncle before getting up and running towards him.
