Chapter 23

Alexander held his head in complete disbelief, while he heard her sniffling,

"You have to be lying" he said looking at her, Anabella shock her head no and the look on her face only made his mind go wild.

"She called, she told me something is wrong with the baby" she said as she sulked,

"Anabella, I had sex with her literally a few days ago she can't know if she's pregnant yet" he said with a chuckle,

"She sounded pretty sure" she said wiping her face,

"And you sound like you trust her more than you trust me" he said looking down at her, before taking her hand walking back to the couch where his phone was,

"I don't know what to believe, one minute she's your neighbor, next she's calling me telling me about her being your girlfriend and how she's pregnant and then you tell me about the whole drugging thing. I don't know what to think" her frustrated tones sounded and the stressed look on her face made him sigh.

He handed her the phone and she read through the chat until her face pinched into a frown and she looked up at him with fire in her eyes.

Oh shit.

He thought as she side eyed him,

"What?"

"You went to meet this girl?" she asked calmly,

"I wasn't alone I went with Jeremy"

"Uh huh, so you are a liar?" she asked and the look on her face was dark,

"I was trying to protect you but yes I'm a liar" he said realizing tonight wouldn't end well, as he saw her shaking her head,

"Why couldn't you tell me all this was going on? No wonder you space out at times you got so much shit going on and you couldn't tell me" she sounded hurt as she handed him back his phone.

Alexander remained silent, rubbing his temples, Anabella backed him as she curled her legs up and she put her head on her knees. He touched her shoulder and she jolted,

"Anabella, I'm really sorry I didn't tell you, I guess we jumped into a relationship too fast, I didn't say anything because I usually keep things to myself or tell Jeremy, he was my support in a hard situation that's why I find it easier to talk to him" he said and she didn't reply, "He told me to tell you, I really just feared you wouldn't believe me I guess because I didn't know how you would react" he sighed to the silence since it was as if he was talking to himself. He released his touch from her shoulder and leaned against the back of the chair.

Anabella sat quietly thinking, this was so confusing for her, she wanted to believe him but he lied to her. There wasn't any guarantee he wouldn't lie again.

He was lying to protect you.

Her mind pricked her, even though he did lie, he had her in mind. Anabella smiled as she looked over her shoulder at him. He looked just as confused as she was, she was still hurt he couldn't tell her but they needed each other. She gave him a quick peck and his eyes popped open,

"Tell me everything" she said straggling his lap,

"What?"

"If we're gonna make this work we should actually talk to each other" she said sternly staring at him and he chuckled taking her cheeks in his hands giving her a kiss.

They laid on the couch telling each other about many aspects of their lives. Alexander told her about covering up the hickeys so he could still be around her, about catching his father cheating, he even told her about getting kidnapped. Anabella listened closely as she laid between his legs, propped on her elbows looking at him as he spoke,

"You were kidnapped? And your father didn't even pay the ransom?" she asked in awe,

"Nope"

"I don't mean to be rude but your father ain't shit" she sucked her teeth, and he chuckled at her,

"Your turn tell me all the hidden secrets about Anabella Carter" he poking her cheeks,

"Well there isn't much to tell actually, I was pretty normal in secondary school the whole 'boyfriend' who I thought I was in love with but he turned out to be a complete asshole" she laughed at herself, "I thought he was amazing but he was just trying to get some ass and I wasn't offering eventually he moved on, he got killed a few years ago" she finished,

"That took an interesting turn" Alexander replied with widened eyes,

"It was expected he got into some fucked up lifestyle. What else?" she asked herself tapping her index finger against her chin, "Oh my father made me take the blame for all of my brother's mistakes and I would have to work in the hotel as punishment. I swear sleeping in the meat freezer was shit. The day you saw me at 'Just Grillin' I was actually coming from saving Thomas' ass he got pissing drunk and then couldn't get home and a car full of guys saw my ass" she rolled her eyes,

"My ass?" he said grabbing it,

"Don't play you getting all handsy, I still angry with you" she sassed and he removed his hand awkwardly.

She gave him a peck on the cheek before dropping her body on his,

"What are we going to do about this?" she asked into his ear,

"I don't know" he said wrapping his arms around her,

"You're right she can't be pregnant that fast"

"She's just messing with us, I'm sorry I put us in this position" he replied and she bit into his neck sucking on the flesh, her lips slide along his skin effortlessly. Alexander could feel a growing erection stir in his pants.

"All isn't forgiven" she breathed out taking another bite of his flesh, "Yet".
