"It was fun," I said. "And the other bands are nice too."

"I'm glad your having a good time," my mom said. "And I'm glad Andy is taking time to focus on you, too."

"Sometimes he can, but its really no big deal," I said as I sipped my bottle of soda.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel to rest and I sat on the balcony enjoying the night air while talking to my mom on the phone.

"By the way, I got your class syllabuses that your forwarded to me. Kathy's going to shop for them tomorrow morning so that they can be ready for when classes start," Mom said.

"Okay, thanks Mom," I said as the balcony door opened and my dad stepped out. "Hey, how's Grandma?"

"Well, she's alright," she sighed. "The doctors raised her prescription though. Apparently she slipped a bit more."

"Is she okay?" I frowned worriedly as my Dad waited for me to finish, furrowing his brows as I asked.

"She's alright, the medicine just makes her more drowsy, that's all," my mom assured. "Just focus on spending some time with Andy and the band. Kathy, me and the nurses are taking good care of your grandmother."

I took a deep breath.

"Okay," I sighed worriedly. "I'm gonna let you go for now. I'll call you in the morning."

"Okay, sweetheart. Good night," she said.

"Good night, mom," I said, and we hung up.

"Everything alright?" Dad asked as he took the seat next to me.

"Yeah," I sighed as I ran my hand through my hair. "My grandmother slipped a bit, so the doctors raised her prescriptions."

"Oh," he said sadly. "I'm sorry."

"Its fine," I said. "Its actually been a long time since she last slipped, but... It still sucks....."

He nodded. "If there's anything you need..."

"Thanks, but, you don't really have to worry about this," I nodded, looking up at the sky. "Just gotta be strong at times like this."

"You know... My grandmother dealt with Leukemia for a long time," He said, making me look at him. "It was pretty bad before she was finally in remission. The cancer almost became terminal."

"Is she okay now?" I frowned.

"She's alright," He nodded reassuringly. "Missing my grandpa, but... But she's tough. I'm sure your grandmother is, too."

I smiled a little as I pulled my legs up and hugged them as  looked back up at the sky.

"I, uhh... I wanted to apologize," he said.

I looked over at him.

"About tonight, the umm... The performance," he said

"Oh... Don't worry about it," I shrugged. "It was just a karaoke show. Not really a huge deal."

"I know, but... I shouldn't have put you on the spot like that," He said. "It wasn't right."

"Well, as you said in your song," she said. "What's done is done."

He looked over at me with a raised brow, and then we both burst out laughing at the same time.

"But really, its fine," I said. "If anything... Being on stage like that was pretty fun."

He nodded softly. "I will say this though... You have an amazing voice."

I looked over. "Really?"

"Absolutely. Where did you learn to even sing like that?" He asked. "It was just... You were incredible."

I shrugged. "Just came to me, I guess. But I was more focused on either academics or sports. Only time I ever sang was in elementary school choir, but the teacher was kind of mean to the kids, so my mom had me pulled from it."

"Huh," he nodded in understanding. "But you really are good..."

I nodded. "Thanks," I smiled. "If it means anything... You're a good singer, too..."

He smiled. "Thank you."

I took a deep breath as I looked at the stars.

"Wishing?" He asked, making me look at him.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"Always did the same when I was younger. Thought all the stars could be wishing stars since there isn't always enough shooting ones," he said.

"Yeah... And the first star is almost always hard to keep track of," I said. "At least that's what my mom always said."

He smiled. "Yeah... She told me that when she worked for us long ago. She was dealing with some personal stuff, and would always find a chance to look up to the stars for a bit," he said, looking down. "Probably the only times were ever really close that way... We'd just talk, and... Look at the stars, quietly make our wishes...."

I tilted my head. "Did you ever have feelings for my mom?"

He looked up with pursed lips, then sighed. "Between you and me... Yeah," he confessed. "But I was was Juliet... Lizzy was scared... And she deserved better than me..."

I pursed my lips.

"You have your flaws... A lot of them," I said. "But I'm sure deep down she cares even a little about you no matter what."

He looked over and smiled at me.

"And I do accept your apology about tonight," I said, then smirked. "But I'll kick your ass if you ever do it again."

He laughed. "Deal," he said.

I smiled as I then yawned.

"Yeah, its getting late. Let's head to bed. Gotta head out early, and I need to verify your flight information for next week," He said.

"Alright,. It sucks I only have a week left, though. This is actually a lot funner than I expected," I said as I got up, getting my bottle of juice.

"Well, there'll always be other tours. You know, if I talk to your mom, I can convince her to let you come with us on Warped Tour," he shrugged.

"You mean that music festival that goes statewide every summer?" She asked.

"Yeah, have you ever been there?" He asked.

"Nah, I never had the time," I shrugged.

"Well, maybe this upcoming summer you can come along. Its pretty cool, you'll like it," he said.

"Hmm..." I said. "I'll think about it."

"Awesome. Now, let's get to bed," he motioned and I follow him inside.

Maybe having my dad around won't actually be that bad after all.
